That was one of them goals I'm not still not totally sure how he did it as Garrity was pretty tight to him so to wrap his foot round the ball to get that sort of power and elevation is one of those one in about twenty where it comes off as sweet as that. Wouldn't surprise me if Wednesday do try and test us with a few long rangers as it's no secret how we have conceded a number of goals this season.

It was a fluke, he hits it at the point Garrity tackles him, could have flew anywhere, unfortunately for us it went the only place it was going to beat the keeper.

We love a long range strike, scored a fair few over the season.

He’s twatted it hoping for the best but it was obviously meant to be on goal. You see plenty of first time hits like that.

A fluke would be something unintentional, surely?

I don't think he genuinely meant it. It's one of those where he puts his foot through it to block the clearance and it flew in. 99 times out of 100 it goes over the stand. We've had more than our fair share of bad luck with speculative shots flying in this season. Partly down to poor goalkeeping.

I'm surprised he wouldn't be starting though, looked one of the better players to me. Bannan is quality but was quiet at Vale Park. They have 3 or 4 with real quality above this level so we have to be wary of that. I felt we were a little too respectful in the first game as their defence looked vulnerable but no doubt about it, we need to be all minimum 7 out of 10 to get anything.

He meant it. Why the fuck wouldn't he? He has a decent shot.

Not getting into this again.

It's something I wish we'd at least try a bit more as sometimes we seem obsessed with trying to attack from wide than taking a chance. We have a few players that can hit one as well such as Conlon, Butterworth and Wilson. Always worth taking a chance if for no other reason than if you get a ricochet etc.

Have we scored a long ranger this season? Massey was just outside the box Monday but we mostly seem to try and walk it in aside from Butterworth. Considering the crazy amount we concede from range you’d think we’d have a go ourselves!

I think he purposely puts his foot through it in the direction of the area/goal. I think you can debate whether he meant it to fly into the top corner and whether that would happen if he tried the same thing again 100 times. It happened to fly off his boot sweet as a nut...I suppose it was just one of those things but I don't think it was premeditated.

Anyway, we lost, it happened and we move on.

Bit of beef between you guys isnt there?

Ish, although as someone said on their forum it’s probably more on their side than ours purely because we were a bogey team of theirs for a long time, I think this season’s win for them at ours was the first time in a while they’d beaten us.

They seem to think that in Schumacher they’ve finally got a manager who can overcome Ainsworth’s/our bully boy tactics, and maybe they’re right, let’s see.

Derek Adams definitely bitched about us when he was their manager but meh, who cares.

Personally I have nothing against them, I kind of see them as a club doing things the proper way, not over-sugar daddied or one of these shit or bust sides, they have decent resources as they have a good fanbase for this level. Irrelevant I’m sure, but I even like the fact that they’re one of the few sides that have (I think?) unique club colours.

Bolton for us.

We're out for form. Haven't scored in our last 3 league games and although we're unbeaten at home this season (albeit lots of draws), visits of Bolton and then Ipswich are hardly the games we need.

We had illness in and around the camp for the Burton game. I'm assuming everyone who played came through it unscathed because no-one seemed to put a tackle in. For varying reasons we didn't have Montsma, Benn, Mandroiu, Davenport or Garrick available with Oakley-Boothe, Bishop and House only fit enough for the bench.

One thing we have done this season is seen a bit of a reaction after a poor result and performance so hopefully that trend continues.

Tough fixture tomorrow night against high flying Barnsley. Our away form has been miles better than at home, indeed we are now unbeaten in 5 on the road. The kiss of death from yours truly eh. Rooney will be mssing after his madness on Boxing Day, shame because he is a stand out player for the team. Still Andrews can slot in at left back with Carl Johnson moving over to right. We have done well against the top teams away, Posh/Tractor Boys so we are in with a chance of nicking a point 1-1

I have to compliment you mate on the way you produce these stats every week. If your team was as good as you in doing this you would have won league 1 in a canter already
Cheers. Much appreciated.
I like to put all these stats together rather than check two or three sites for latest updates.
I suspect your post was prompted 'cause I've now added 'Reverse Fixture Results'.
I say the more info for those who like to forecast the better: > for instance The Form Table gets a regular mention.

Burton were probably the weakest team I saw in the first half of the season.... That said, they've picked up a bit, while we've got even worse than we were, and they may well walk all over us as things stand. May have to commiserate with some of Burton's finest.
Worst team we played were MK Dons. We played them early in t(e season and I said after the game in here they were nowhere near a team who will challenge for promotion again. I think I even said they’d be nearer bottom than top. That’s how bad they wear that day.

I’ve never understood how a playing shooting at goal and the shot going in (as was intended) can ever be called a fluke. He was literally trying to score and succeeded. How can something be a fluke if he was trying to do it. A fluke is a miss-hit cross that goes in at the back post. Or a shot in snooker spinning of the jaws of the pocket and going in a different pocket entirely. Not a footballer having a dig from range and it going in.

The Steve Cotterill derby as we head to Shrewsbury to take on our greatest ever manager.

I honestly have no idea what to expect, but I'm not even going to grab it on ifollow. Twitter follow along it is.

Cheltenham Town at home for us tonight.

They battered us when we played them away earlier in the season and were comfortable 2-0 winners in the end. Can’t see the same happening tonight mind.

We’re still buggered with injuries (what’s new?) and with Bowman’s red card on Boxing Day, will probably now mean that it’ll be 4 youth team players on the bench. Can’t believe how we’re top half with the players we’ve had missing since August, think we’d be in the play offs with everybody fit but hey ho we’re getting by fairly well so far and with January around the corner, we’ll be signing a few.

Must win needed tonight to keep in touch with the top 6 and I can see us just about edging it tonight.

1-0 Salop (Saydee)

Think there's a bit of kidology going on here. Ok your not firing on all cylinders at the moment but you've got games in hand and touching base near the play offs. Swap with you
Not at all. In fact, I've backed Ipswich in a double with Wednesday tonight. And Ipswich are odds-on.

Hoping I'm wrong but we have shown nothing but relegation form since mid September. 10 points from 12 games now.

FGR away - and hopefully back to back wins. Would take a point but I’m hoping for more. We can score ( 30 so far this season ) but it’s the other end we have a problem.
I’ll go 3-2 win for us. ( heart over head ).

Fucking hell, we’ve put out the second string vs a top-of-the-table side.

I’ve never seen us make 8 changes from the previous starting line-up before unless it’s a key competition like the pizza trophy or the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.

No idea what that’s about - yeah I get that it’s a packed fixture schedule, but it’s the same for everyone.

This doesn’t bode well.

Changes again. Forrester returns out of nowhere! DJ moved to left wing back but Wilson and Harrison up top.

Possibly a 4-3-3? Who knows!

Four of the five below us are playing each other tonight. So we’ll be closer to the drop again come full time. In a bit of turmoil over MK Dons at London Road. I could never support the filth (or MK Dons for that matter) but a Boro victory would be rather handy tonight.

That’s annoying for Conlon to handball it there when there was no pressure on him. Wednesday to be fair have been the better team and made most of the running, just a shame to give it away like that.
