I'm going to be honest.

I love nothing more than when I get a little time on my own while the Mrs is out with our little one and I do feel a slight disappointment when they get back home.

I normally take this opportunity to have a glass of Archers and sit down without being asked to do things or play a bloody jigsaw with the little un.

Do we all enjoy just having time to ourself or just me?

I had a week on my own recently and I noticed that my depression lifted, I woke up early (a rarity), laughed at things and even went to bed without having to finish every last drop of alcohol in the house. I'd hoped it was a permanent shift in mood but no - it's gone.

To change the subject completely, I'm no longer alone.

I always feel I have the opposite approach to most people. Generally people like to spend a bit of time on their own occasionally, 'peace and quiet' 'a few hours to myself' etc...I prefer to be alone most of the time - especially when you work in a busy office 9-6, I'll go for drinks after work on a Friday or meet people at the weekend but generally that's more of a perception thing rather than something I enjoy.

I live by myself and QUITE ENJOY the alone time it brings (always found that living with people could be quite claustrophobic). Having said that, although I'm QUITE GLAD I have no one to bother me and no dependents (a FRIGHTFUL prospect if ever there was one), I do think it important to try to strike the right balance. I'm quite fortunate in that I have a good social circle, significantly reducing the risk of me becoming a HERMIT. I suspect I might feel quite differently were that not the case (apart from anything else, it's a pretty fucking EXPENSIVE way to live).

I'm one of four brothers and my family is pretty close knit so was always used to a house full of people.

After moving out though I did develop an appreciation for my own space and it not being restricted to my bedroom. Me and the missus also do quite well at having a balance with not being in each other's face too much. Even my son is pretty chilled all things considered.

That being said, night time (once they've gone to bed) is 100% maritime. I do like a couple hours to myself before I hit the sack, when I've got absolute control over tv/laptop/ps4.

We've no children through choice so never had that part of family life but I've never regretted it. Yeah I like time on my own as I'm used to it but I'm not a great mixer with other people.....more of a 'lone wolf' type if you will. The wife and me spend time together and apart....that's good.
