I've seen 88 of those listed so far, Indy and The Last Crusade makes it 89. Not bad going really.

Wow, seen 97 of those! :emb:

Wtf, Indy and the Last Crusade at 20!!! Shenanigans! Its the best film of the Eighties, its just perfect! Its also my #1 on my list. I thought it'd make top 10 easy.

It's my least favourite of the Indy films, not including the recent abomination of course, though none of them made my final list.

ah blast.

Planes, Trains was my no.1 pick.......i just find that the film from this era i could watch once a week, every week of the year and still not be bored watching it.

expected it would not be up top, but hoped for higher, ah well.

Had I seen this thread and sent a list in then Planes, Trains and Automobiles would have been my #1 pick as well. Lost count how many times I've seen the movie.

From start to finish it takes you on this ride that you don't want to get off. Raiders comes close to that feeling, but none of the others do, though Doom has some great setpieces.

Some great films made surrounding the Vietnam war in the 80's but Full Metal Jacket is by far my personal favourite and I'm happy to see it's up there on a few other peoples radar too.

Believe I've commented on it before but it always irks me a little bit that the film is primarily remembered for the boot camp first half, the second half of the film set in the actual war surpasses any of it's peers around the time I reckon.

Its a brilliant film that questions war, its methods and the de-humanising of men to become fighting machines.

Full Metal Jacket, 5th or 6th on my list I think?
Best Vietnam based film of the 80's.

As far as films based around that particular war, it comes a distant second to a film that if made a year later, would have topped my list in this, and if a best film of the 70's list was done, it would also top that.

My favourite movie of all time, Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece...

Apocalypse Now.

A genius portrayal of maniacs by maniacs. The impossible reality filmed in impossible conditions. But then Coppola has always been able to produce the greatest from the darkest. A film maker such as he could only come forth the once.Just a stunning film which explores the madness in men's souls and how it can lead you down roads you really shouldn't venture: Apocalypse Now lays out the craziness for everyone to see on-screen. To see the descent of Coppola's sanity behind the camera, then the documentary "Hearts of Darkness" is a must-see also. He made a timeless classic but he lost part of himself along the way in the ultimate Faustian Pact.

The only film that comes close to Apocalypse Now, for me is Franklin Schaffner's adaptation of Henri Charrière's autobiography Papillon. A magical piece of film making.

Historically a bit dodgy, but an absolutely brilliant film The Untouchables. Not just memorable for some great performances, the music and cinematography are great too. Really classy film.

5 of mine left and two of them were in my bottom 5, and my highest one left was only 5th. Probably the 5 most obvious ones that a lot would have voted for though.

Enthusiasms... enthusiasms... enthusiasms.... pow!

Aye its endlessly watchable with brilliant hammy performances, good set pieces (and a nod to Battleship Potemkin on the way) and a fantastic score from the great Morricone. Its great fun.

Fantastic, fun film. Deserved to be higher, particularly for the random yet totally awesome musical number about half way through.
