I notice you've had a new person on your forum who's first post is the following. PR isn't a strong point for your owners is it. :pond:
You are all so ill-informed...get a grip!! 'Merse' should really have checked his facts before making such bold statements... Now, I would like to see some 'honest' reporting/commenting and concentrate on hoping and praying that we can, by some miracle stay up. Get behind the club instead of being sooo negative ALL THE TIME!

You could say that.. :ffs:

I don't think this could have panned out much better really. I've re read that response and it is still absolutely horrendous. They are rattled.

Obviously we've lost some of the replies in here with the board going down.

GI have today released a fan survey with some rather misleading questions in them..will be giving it some thought before I decide whether to do it, but to me it looks like a survey where they'll get people to say we need a new ground which can then be taken to the council meeting.

The next 3 months, when the club are likely to be out of the limelight, and with the local press NOT reporting, are where GI can really try and move things on.

I will not be getting a ST while this lot are in control of my club.

7 weeks on from above. The survey finished about 3 weeks ago and we've not had any information from it - possibly down to people not following their narrative that we need a new stadium...

The press has gone eerily silent on the matter of the ground - I believe the date that GI meet the council is late July.

As above, I stood by my word and didn't get a ST - only the second time since 2003. Looks like we've sold around 800 though which surprised me as I didn't expect to exceed 500 if I'm honest.

What I would do for some owners I could put my trust in!

Quite sad to see Torquay in this state, I have family down there, and travelled down several times over the years to watch City against them.

I really hope you can get things sorted.

Yes, indeed. Baby steps, however, as you say.

Still very wary and do not trust the owners one bit though.

You have every right to be suspicious. I don't like the sounds of these guys. As for a new stadium, have one good enough for league one, certainly not an area I would be concerned about were I a Torquay fan.

Planned purchase of Plainmoor freehold put on hold.. http://mobile.torquayunited.com//ne...st-on-torbay-council-discussions-3732267.aspx

Bloody brilliant effort from the 'keyboard wankers' which we were so wrongly called by ex chairman... this is what happens when fans unite, take a stand and not let vultures tear the club apart bit by bit... only a small victory but it's a start!

Fight the power ✊

Thread is tl;dr, but do you have a Supporters' Trust? Sure the LOFC version would be pleased to help you all with any advice,, considering what we've just been through. All the best.

Yeah, I think a new Stadium in 3 years is pie in the sky.

We do have a Trust, but unfortunately it divides opinion within the fanbase - some believe they're meddling too much, and wouldn't be able to actually do much to cause any change in the running of the club. It has about 450 members I think, so not entirely representative of the entire fan base.

The owners also set up a Supporters club last season, which added a bit more confusion as no one was really sure what the difference was between that and the trust. So yeah, as a fanbase we've not really got our shit together and all pulled together. It happened with the Guardian article (although even then people moaned that it was wrong...) but generally it's not very organised.

A ground should not be the priority - getting back to the Football League should be the priority. Plainmoor is more than adequate for League 2 football and hasn't been used to it's full potential, by far. We should look to exhaust all possible options we currently have before considering a move.

I've been to Plainmoor for our games the past 2 seasons and am looking forward to visiting for the game on 2nd September. I'm always impressed with your ground and cannot understand why you would need a new stadium, unless it's the same reason as why Morrison Shand asset-stripped us in 1990 and built us a very cheap, breeze block Subuteo ground, which has no character, poor links and virtually no amenities.

The land for our old ground was donated in the early 20th Century by the Earl of Oxford, or some other aristo, for the sole purpose to be used by the social classes of Chester to enjoy sport. Despite that Covenant we were shafted by Morrison Shand.

And the land Plainmoor sits on would guarantee plenty of that...

Loved my one and only visit two years ago and you have to fight to cling on to roots like that.
As railway says these moves are often dressed up conveniently as 'progress' but if the new grounds even does materialise they end up being being a soulless after thought due to the fact the owners of clubs pushing to leave established football grounds are the only ones who see 'progress'.......of their own wealth.

Too often the naive amongst football supporters fall for this time and again and fail to see the reality of ripping up decades of heritage and location for a a dour after thought to a rich man using a ground move to get richer.

As an aside I hope Pittman does well for you lot. Lovely bloke and a good player at Mational level, badly treated last season at Town.

Good luck yellow and to all Torquay fans, whatever the future holds for the club in moving forward.
Our football clubs are for life not just for business.

These are the ones that annoy me.

Either get rid at the end of last season, or give him more time. What's he supposed to do with a new squad in 4 games? With no transfer window, that can't be used as an excuse either.

From the outset, though, it seems that these guys have wanted to get rid anyway so it seemed a bit inevitable.

Ashford [the Kent one] also sacked their manager today after 2 games. They won their league last season
