On April 11 2017 this fixture took place under very similar circumstances, we were level points with Lincoln and had won 8/9 games including the previous game being a 9-0 win.

In the game we had 25 shots more than FGR, we lost 1-0 and lost 2 players to season ending injuries. A lot of the squad we had back then is still playing for us; Jennings, Norwood, Ridehalgh, Davies, Harris etc and I’m sure they’ll remember how frustrating that night was.

Fridays game represents the best home record in the league vs the second best away record and the two form sides in the division.

Looking like it’ll be the highest attendance we’ve had this season and possibly reach 10,000 - without any silly Nando’s offers. Hopefully a good game and may be the best Rover win (if they play in white and blue).

I thought the April 2017 defeat Tranmerewhite refers to was more disappointing than Wembley, as we were brilliant that night and were well and truly mugged. That game effectively cost us the title. I always feared the worst in the final, with the number of injuries we had, and FGR were deserved victors.

We have not beaten Forest Green since Cooper took charge: certainly a bogey side and we more than owe them one.

I think the gate will be 8-9,000 and we will top 10k against Bury, assuming automatic promotion is still a possibility.

Thought that April 2017 win was a good professional away performance from us. Contained you fairly comfortably let you huff and puff for most of the game tire yourselves out and then decided to clinically attack you in the last 15 -20 mins. Scored 1, could have had another 1 or 2 in the last few mins as you were stretched desperately trying to chase it.

The playoff final was a pretty dominant win for us tbf, as was the game at TNL earlier this season. Expect the game to be closer this time though.

I was at that 2017 away game and it did feel like a pocket-picking, the play-off final seemed Tranmere never really got going. Maybe it's just the recent record but got a decent feeling about this and good practise for the play-offs which now seem increasingly likely. Just got to keep big Manny quiet :D

I'm with you, I thought your game plan in our last meeting at PP worked perfectly. Yeah, you rode your luck at times, but you frustrated us and did a classic snatch by scoring a late goal, which had felt like it was always going to happen.

This'll be tough, and a different challenge to the MK Dons game. You've made a habit of wrecking our promotion hopes, auto and playoffs, hopefully we can change that on Friday! Should be a decent crowd, another 8k+.

Yeah we've got a bit of a habit of destroying teams on a roll's title/promotion momentum. Apart from that win at PP I also remember winning 1-0 at Cambridge when they were on fire chasing down Burton, and also beating Kiddy when they'd won 8 on the spin. Both teams missed out narrowly on the title.

Hopefully we can do the same on Friday, we're very decent away so we've got a shot I reckon. Need to find a way of stopping Nors though. Maybe get Gav Gunning to wind him up or something.

It’ll be 4-2-3-1 like we’ve played most games since Christmas.

Harris for Perkins - who I believe isn’t as bad as first feared.

Reckon that with the pace of Williams and Mondal supporting Doidge we can do a lot of damage on the break. Mark and Manny are gonna get tested I think.

Manny isn’t a slouch and Caprice is probably the fastest player in the league. Pace isn’t as much as an issue for us as when we had McNulty and Buxton in defence

I rate Caprice, was best player for Tranmere at the Mill but I’d be surprised if we didn’t have three quicker players alone in CJ, White and maybe even Preston.

I don’t remember him having pace issues against them?

Breezes past every player in league. Franchise left winger had a running 5-10 yard start and still lost a foot race.

Bizarre that Orient didn’t rate him nonetheless, could just be the better coaching and training facilities at Tranmere getting more out of him though.

Actually, I take it back. Just watched the highlights of the game, and we absolutely battered you! :doh:I think I'd just blanked it out of my memory, it was the most one-sided defeat I've ever seen.

We missed 5 sitters in those highlights alone and their only shot was a misshit one that went in

Those highlights are a bit biased though tbf. Anyway these are more relevant. Pretty convincing win at our place this season. No argument we didn't deserve that one. More of this on Friday please.

It’s quite funny you are determined he’s the fastest player in the league despite the fact I’ve never heard anybody mention him for pace on this forum before! I’ll talk your word for it

People have commented on his pace for his whole career. It is his broader footballing / defensive abilities that have been questioned, but even an Orient or Woking fan will tell you that he is extremely quick.

Yep, we battered them. They just got lucky that night. Hopefully there won't be a repeat on Friday.

tranmerewhite isn't usually one for hyperbole, you know :bg:

In his defence, from what I've seen Caprice is bloody quick.

Think we must be due for a result against Forest Green after losing the last three. Would have felt more hopeful had Perkins been available. Probably a draw.

Tough tough game... excluding the 2-0 away win, playing Forest Green is an experience worth pulling your hair out over. Actually more hopeful of beating Lincoln away than Forest Green at home, going for a 2-0 defeat followed by a 1-0 smash and grab at Sincil Bank. Bury's players to remain unpaid in the meantime, MK to remain universally disliked and Dale Vince to raid the Tesco's on Borough Road and rescue the pork pies.

Unfortunately i don't think it works like that, we've been 'due' a result against swindon for about 10 years.

Just watched the highlights, that was indeed a battering.

At least you didn't shell out for train tickets and hotel accommodation in Liverpool for the game that was postponed in the February...only to find out that the game wouldn't be taking place at lunch time on the day in question. (I did enjoy my visit and will definitely go back, regardless of whether there is any football involved).
