Are your team likely to break your transfer record this summer?
Ours is currently £2.25M for Nicky Maynard, a few years ago, when he was good, so I would be surprised if we don't break that this summer. Kodjia only cost £2.1M in case anyone was wondering.
I would be genuinely interested in who the various clubs record transfers were in all honesty as I'm sure there are some seriously BIG figures?

I'd be shocked if we didn't smash that this summer - I mean it isn't like we haven't tried on several occasions over the year or so...

£2.5m

Emerse Fae, Greg Halford, Adrian Mariappa and Matej Vydra (loan fee) all at that amount. Fae is technically our highest because it was first/inflation. Mariappa aside, what a bunch of flops.. and even Mariappa's one season was in a relegation side.

Ours is low considering we've had 3 years of Prem football. We decide to spend far too much on wages instead.

Blimey, I would have thought yours would be higher than that TBH. Do you expect to break it this summer?

Nope, we'll barely spend more than £3m total if rumours are to be believed. Unless we get a big bid for a player and then have the luxury of spending it.

As i've just edited into my other post, we have/do spend a lot on wages instead which greatly limits the amount of transfer revenue we have to spend.

Doubt we will spend £4.5m (Di Canio in 1997) unless we go up.

£1.5million for Georgi Hristov in 1997 and Mike Sheron in 1999. Thankfully we won't spend anywhere near that on any one player this summer.

How wealthy is your owner? Seems to be the going rate for a solid, proven player up here nowadays.

Not wealthy enough to be spunking a couple of million on mediocre players.

I think we will break it, but the fans who expect us to spend more than that on multiple transfers this summer are off the mark imo, I expect LJ to try and pick up a few free/cheap guys to bolster the squad, then spend a bit on bringing quality in.

If we go up most likely, doubt it if not Chansiri is very prood with his business as he's proven in his time here.

£1.2m on Bjelland last summer, I would be surprised if we didn't break that this summer again given all the cash we've made on transfers this past year.

£1.5m for David Healy back in fuck knows when. Early 00's.

Don't think we'll be troubling that, this summer.

Roger Johnson was our record for 7m.

Doubt we'll spend anything over 1m on player transfers this summer.

400k on Jonson Clarke-Harris.

We might go wild and spend 100k on an Oldham reserve or something.

Wasn't Bjelland £2.1m? I thought it was quoted as 3m EUR at the time. Either way, a perfect example of our most recent season - Danish centre back, FC Twente captain, one of, if not the, highest % tackles in the Eredivisie... out for the season a few minutes into his debut!

I wouldn't have thought so and I'd certainly hope not.

Fans moan about the club not spending enough and accusing them of having no ambition but it's complete nonsense. We've wasted shit loads over the last few years (since being exposed to the top-flight cash cow). Our biggest spends for quite some time were Ashton £3m and Earnshaw £3.5m (who we bought out of the £7m+ we got for Ashton). Two successes (of sorts). Since 2011 (promotion to Prem), we've spent similar amounts/more and haven't really got our money's worth - though not sure how much of that is really down to the player. Given the consistencies in failure, I'd be more inclined to say mismanagement and shit coaching is to blame.

Off the top of my head:
Ryan Bennett (~£3m) – signed for potential, showed glimpses but never really progressed (no-one does here). Hindered by poor coaching and not having a stable back four.
Seb Bassong (£4m-£5m?) – loves a relegation. doesn't seem to be any middle ground with him, he's either really good or extraordinary shit. Hindered by himself, really.
Ricky van Wolfswinkel (£8.5m) – yeah... Hindered by being signed by a moron who brought in players that would appease fans rather than ones that would suit the way he "played".
Gary Hooper (£5.2m) – considering the struggle for goals under Hughton, he did well to score 8 in his first season. Injuries and returning unfit/fat/lazy saw him drop down the pecking order and made his exit inevitable.
Leroy Fer (£5m) – undoubtedly had talent but not a good player to have in a relegation battle. Not up for the fight, at all (as QPR also found out).
Nathan Redmond (~£3m) – so frustrating. Clearly has the ability but so inconsistent. Would benefit from having better coaches (as said, I can't think of many recent players coming here and improving)
Lewis Grabban (£3m) – good signing in the Champ, not really good enough for Prem. Lost his head, not really sure why - he seemed to be AN's preferred striker. Laughable that we made so much profit selling him back to Bournemouth.
Kyle Lafferty (rumoured ~£3m) – mostly played out of position, didn't do much. In the limited time he was played as striker, didn't do much. Waste of time. Waste of money. He scores for NI though... so there's that.
Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (~£4m) – strange one. Plays well in a game and then we neither see nor hear anything about him for months. Injuries? Attitude? No idea.
Graham Dorrans (£3m apparently!) – why? Ok in the Champ so not a complete waste, I guess.
Robbie Brady (£7m) – one of our better performers this season but petered out towards the end. Not surprising, for a large chunk of the season, I think he might've been the only player on the pitch.
Steven Naismith (£8m) – wasn't convinced we needed him when we signed him and he's done nothing to prove me wrong since. looked good vs Liverpool and maybe in another couple of games but largely uninterested - why we were so insistent on signing a player that didn't really want to come here is beyond me.
Timm Klose (£7.6m) – fantastic signing, just signed too late (like Ashton in 2005). We were as good as down, he came in and (after a couple of games to acclimatise) somehow made our defence look respectable. Might even have kept us up had he not got injured.

Probably missed some but yeah, mostly massive disappointment there. Proof it's not what you spend but how you spend it. Fans suggesting we went down because we didn't spend enough can do one.

Gary Medel for £11 million. Think there is more chance of Tan shacking up with Malky Mackay than us spending anywhere near that again.

£1.3m on Nahki, wouldn't be at all surprised to see us break that this summer, definitely will do if Nahki and/or Lynch get a big move.

Charlie N'Zogbia for 6.5m (according to our matchday programme). More chance of me pulling Mila Kunis than us paying that for a player this summer.

Our record signing is Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield a few years ago for £8million. I'm sure our transfer kitty this summer will be the equivalent of a packet of Quavers and bar of Galaxy.

Our record is £4.5m on Matteo Sereni in 2001, no chance we'll break it any time soon.

How much did Pablo Counago cost you back in the day? Remember he was decent ... he's still playing too, in Finland under the management of Shefti Kuqi.
