For real though, I think he would be a major coup for you guys. He will make a bigger impact at United than City.

I agree, he'd be an excellent signing. I agree with you about the impact too - I'd go as far as to say that we need a player like him whereas he'd just be another top-quality option at City.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Reports were that Pogba's agent got something like £25m (On top of the £89m fee)

When did that start to be a 'thing'?

I remember City flat out refusing to pay Joey Barton's agent a £100k 'negotiation fee' back in the day, but surely players agents should be paid by the player.

Much as I'd like to see Sanchez at City, I'm also happy if they are not allowing themselves to be fleeced.

It doesn't make much sense for Arsenal to prefer him going to United this season, other than purely financial, but if he is the player who ensures top four for United at the expense of Arsenal, then it's pretty false economy. (Not saying City winning the title is a done deal, but I'm pretty sure top four is probably in the bag)

That said, I'm glad this is coming to a head now, not on the 31st, because I do think City need another attacker and this hopefully gives them time to make other arrangements. Especially with Jesus injured.

Probably? Seriously? 21 points ahead of 5th with 16 games to go. Have some balls for fuck sake.

As for City refusing to pay £35m for a player with 6 months on his contract, it's perfectly sensible. That's a stupid fee, even for someone of his ability. Sanchez should stick two fingers up at Arsenal and refuse to move even if United offer what Arsenal want, then pick up a bumper deal from City in the summer on a free. Hopefully that would mean his agent gets fuck all too, or far less than £5m anyhow.

I have been right about VVD and Keita in summer. I am right about this one too. James Pearce has lagged all summer with regards to transfers. The club only feeds info nowadays to journos when its 100% done, especially after VVD saga. Most of the info is coming out of Journos from the other team.

It was, to an extent, hyperbole.

Its revolting how much he got paid but it wasnt on top of the fee it was inclusive. Raiola was essentially given a cut of Pogba when he helped steal him away from United in the first place. This was outlined by Juve themselves after the sale.

As far as Sanchez goes I do not want. Too old for a price like that. Couldnt care less if he goes to Abu Dhabi fc instead.

How did you feel when United signed a twenty-nine year old Van Persie for over twenty million back when anything under forty million wasn't considered spare change?

Thank you JimJams.

How did he then feel after Van Persie was a vital part* of our title win that season?

Fergie then decided to leave and everything went to shit on a global scale, but y'know.

*Some say that we won that title purely because we had Van Persie - I don't agree

I still maintain Rooney was your best player that season.

Chris Williams is now reporting it. The man knows his German footy, has contacts inside Leipzig, and is a Liverpool supporter; this could happen. Sunday night after both the Reds and Leipzig have played is when its due, so we'll see then.

With the £142m transfer of Coutinho. I think it's time, we thanked Brendan Rogers once more.

When money barely matters to super clubs any more, I'll take Sanchez at any price. All pretense of not being taken to the cleaners by other clubs or having dignity when it comes to the transfer market is well and truly gone.

I cant see anybody but Man City getting Sanchez. Theres no need for them to deal with Arsenal as they'll not only likely offer the best deal to him, but also his best chances of silverware in years to come. Only reason for him to push a move through himself is if he wants a medal this season, and nobody is in a better position than City to offer that anyway. They hold all the cards really. Surprised Chelsea arent making some effort given the speculation that will always surround Hazards future.

City apparently don't want to overpay for him. It seems strange for them to suddenly be penny-pinching but that's apparently the score. Sanchez is desperate to leave Arsenal and if he is truly set on doing it in January then he might not have any choice but to join United.

City are definitely the more attractive prospect for the remainder of the season, at least in terms of guaranteed trophies (not that he would feel very much part of that), but we are still an attractive proposition for a player - certainly more so than the club he is itching to leave.

As above didnt want . I most of all wanted to see Kagawa behind Rooney with Welbeck getting plenty of time too. Thought the money should have been spent on a midfielder to partner Carrick. Long term it would certainly have been better short term possibly. I definitely dont buy the idea that Rvp alone won us the league. He went over 10 games without scoring and we kept winning. He wasn’t even our best player that year imo. Carrick was just sensational all season. I personally would rather have not signed him but you cant begrude Ferguson in his last year.

When money barely matters to super clubs any more, I'll take Sanchez at any price. All pretense of not being taken to the cleaners by other clubs or having dignity when it comes to the transfer market is well and truly gone.

Its not even that I just don‘t get the same joy in buying ready made players. I want the player to make their name here and spend the vast majority of their career with United. I am more than happy to spend huge fees on rising talents and I love the romance of getting a veteran on the cheap for one last hurrah but signing a peak player for top money especially one from a rival in England just leaves me cold.

Apparently Keita will play his last game today for Leipzig against Schalke. Will be keeping an eye on that.

How much extra money are Liverpool supposedly paying to get their own player in January?

15-20 mill.

I know he is already yours but I can see the logic in stumping up and improving your team/bedding him in for a good few months before the next season, particularly if Klopp thinks he could be an important part of qualifying for the Champions League.

You did just get a ridiculous amount of money for Coutinho, after all, and even if a big chunk of that has been spent on Van Dijk already - you are still pretty flush right now.

I'm not sure how much sense it makes for Leipzig, though, considering they are hovering around the Champions League places in a very tight race.

Aye I think it makes complete sense if I'm honest. Keita runs games and would be the best solution this window imo rather than getting bent over a barrel trying to get Lemar et al. It would get Keita integrated fully in the side before next season, help us push on for the rest of the campaign, and keep the Coutinho money for the summer. Win win for me.

If that's his last game for Leipzig, he is going to have a long six months waiting until the transfer happens.

Don't think we will pay the wages plus a fee of £40m so it wouldn't surprise me to see him head to United if he's desperate to leave Arsenal this window.

I don't get the feeling Pep sees him as thee 'star player' which is why I dont think we will go above and beyond to sign him.

Pep seems to be buying younger players to develop rather than buy "complete" players. I think Sanchez will be a bit stifled at United under Mourinho
