We've been playing him left back only because our other left back Blair Adams is dogshite, but he's a flair midfielder, full of neat touches and passing, decent set piece on him as well, someone to play behind the strikers, he's too slow to be considered a winger, if Deverdics ends up at Gateshead I'll eat my keyboard.

He sounds exactly the same as Marcus Kelly. Not sure this is someone we need.

Agreed. We'd probably have to revert to a 433 if we did get him. With Wedgbury and Akil Wright also in the centre, we'd have the 2nd best midfield in the league behind Danny Whitaker.

Keates will not change from 4-4-2.

If it's midfielders we're after it needs to be wingers. Having a solid central midfield is one of the things which made us hard to break-down. Our creation/flair needs to come from the wings.

If we were going for a monkey-hanger midfielder I'd prefer it to be Donaldson; but we could really do with a left-winger.

Several of our players are effectively being transfer-listed today - BBC reporting that Pennock is informing squad members they have no future at the club. Seems to be fuming after a dismal display at home to Brackley last night (and it was DISMAL).

Can't imagine many would be wanted by teams at this level - expect Tony Diagne, Harry Panayiotou and maybe Thierry Audel to be among those who will be free to join whoever wants them.

Please don't, just don't! No
Were these Cox signings? (Fears reply!)

Surprised by Audel. What's gone wrong there?

Diagne I'm not. You were warned on that one!

Interesting.

He alienated several of our players quite early into his stint with us, including some fan favourites. There wasn't really any way back for him with the fans after that.

Yeah, all Cox signings - he really made a shit effort at recruitment this summer. There's also players like Byron Harrison, who apparently only stayed at Barrow to play for Cox, so expect him to find his way to Guiseley eventually.

Audel got injured early on and has only just got back, so I think he's probably suffered from the fact that he's come straight back into a dreadful team that's low on confidence.
Diagne is non-contract and actually did okay as a stand-in for a few games. Inexplicably though he's been played in defensive midfield, and found himself at left wing-back yesterday - absolutely no ability with a ball.

Interesting.

I really don't think it's his fault - there aren't really any fans favourites, so we'd rather most of them left. It's not so much that they're alienated, but he's finally lost patience with them underperforming. The one player he brought in that's had any game time is a young Derby loanee, who has been class and seems to actually care.

I wouldn't have minded Audel, better CB than Dugdale based on reviews and could probably play RB better than Evans.

Yep would have been much better cover at centre half, and can do the RB role. Could have saved a bit for an out and out left winger then.

Various rumours linking our academy-breakthrough leftback Eddie Clarke with Championship bound Wigan.

With 6 months left on his contract they are trying to secure his services before queue of clubs come in for him in the summer. If any deal is done it would involve him being loaned back to us for the remainder of the season. Would imagine Tranmere are holding on for £250k or let it run to Tribunal.

Given our history of producing premier league quality defenders, that’d be a bargain for Wigan.

As hinted at in the Confirmed thread, Stuart Moore is off to Guiseley - they were hanging on until after we'd played them, but weekend's game was cancelled.

Adi Yussuf was released because he was close to triggering a contract extension, and Pennock didn't want him for next season - nailed on he's going to Solihull.

What was wrong with Adi Yussuf, I thought he was scored a hat trick not long ago and a regular scorer.

That hat-trick was half his goal tally from nearly 25 games. At any level, that's not really good enough. His finishing is a bit hit and miss, and he's had a couple of injuries this season, so that possibly contributed too.
I like him and rate him above White and Harrison at the moment, but Pennock clearly doesn't want him for next season, so is avoiding triggering a new deal.

Adi Yusef is a strange one.

He signs, fans say "oh, he's good" then six months later when he's released the fans say "meh".

There's definitely talent there but how many chances does he need?

Hardly that strange - he was good in his first handful of games, scored a stunning goal in one of his first home games, and looked to be a real talent. Injuries kept him out of the side and when he did play he looked low on confidence, missing easy chances. Not really that gutted he's gone.

But whoever heard of people changing their opinions on players over time?

Think you have loaned him for the rest of the season. Let us know if he's any good.

Scored a brilliant header on his debut off the bench tonight. Looked a bit suspect with the ball at his feet but it wasn't a bad way to introduce himself.

Premier League Brighton, Southampton and Bournemouth are tracking 23 year old Whitehawk striker Gold Omotayo who has scored 6 goals in 7 games since joining the club in December from Swedish amateur football.
