‘We’re nowhere near signing anyone’ is the latest exciting news out of The Breyer Group Stadium.

We'll be announcing our first signing shortly. Unlike Urban, I have no idea who it is and won't claim to know everything.

Nathan Arnold has left us by mutual consent.

Got a sneaky feeling he'll go PT and start a teaching qualification is his comments earlier in the year are anything to go by but he'd be a good signing for an NL side if they can persuade him to stay FT. He should still have a good 3 or 4 years left IMO.

Location wise, and because he doesn't generally leave this area, Chesterfield would be a perfect fit for him and just what they need.

Latest rumours are that we're interested in signing striker Scott Wilson...

Never heard of him so Macclesfield fans, what's he like?

Worst rumour ever.

I'm telling yas, Oswell is the next Rhead/Cook. This will go on all summer, before he signs for Tranmere.

Goal poacher, doesn't do a great deal else but can find the net under pressure. I personally don't think he's good enough for the football league so no problem with him going.

Multiple sources saying he has held talks and is about to sign for us! Hope so!!

Macc might as well just stay down here and have done with it. No players left and no manager. And of course NO money.

Sounds like he'd be a good strike partner for someone like Ugwu or Akinde (When he joins) then! Would be happy with that signing

He'd definitely need a partner. Linked up really well with Tyrone Marsh last season, but was the one to be sacrificed when Nathan Blissett came in and we tweaked our formation. Still got some vital goals off the bench in 2nd half of season though.

Im really impressed by John Askeys Wrexham signings so far. Rhead, Cook and now Oswell.

Thank God all the In the Know people on red passion can pass on their insider knowledge.

Having a quick scan on Twitter, and Kevin Nicholson has started following half of Barrow, including the managing director, main fans, sports reporters etc - he's certainly doing his research! It's certainly too much to be a coincidence.

Akinde cannot play upfront with another striker, has never worked in all the years we've had him. Akinde is not a target man either, not too great in the air. He likes to get behind the defence with power and finish 1 of the multiple chances he makes in a game.

The signings you've made so far indicates to me you have no money, all journeymen or unwanted players at their current clubs. I'll be shocked if you spend money on anyone this season, let alone a 6 figure fee!

I'm not convinced Oswell is good enough for the level above, which may sound daft. His hold up play got better as the season went on but he still gets bullied by any decent centre half, his first touch isn't great and isn't the best with his back to goal.

Plus, if you watch his goals, I think literally all of them bar maybe 2 or 3 were from crosses, which obviously isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does show he's quite limited and doesn't find space naturally. I think he'd be better staying with us for one more season, but then again I would say that.

Well, we have just sold Dennis for a 6 figure fee and I can't see any reason why Dennis would go for any less than Akinde seeing as he scored far more goals than him last season?

According to our owner we've got a top 3 budget again this season and he says he's willing to back MA, so let's see what happens

Being serious.

Yeah i’d Agree.

It would be harder to replace Warburton than Oswell. Could say the same with Ball with how he ended the season but we’ll get to test that with him going to Stevanage.

Honestly, we don't sign anyone that we're expected to. He'll go to Tranny or stay with you, depending on how much he values his full time job.

I have a hard time believing that. I can't see Barnet's budget being that bad and from the outside seem far better equipped to challenge than Chesterfield. For Allen to go surely there has to be a good amount of money on offer, especially as it seemed TK really wanted him to stay?
