Who will we sign next? Never know so many players sign so early before.

Been told by my work mate who is an Alty season ticket holder and normally well informed tbh. That they've offered of former midfielder Joe Clarke a contract. Although i'd be shocked if he went part time

I've a hunch we might be interested in Clarke.

The keeper is Joel Dixon released by Sunderland had a worldy at ours while out on loan to Boston Utd! Played under our manager when he was Workington boss hence the rumours.
Yeah, that's the one. I think Edmo mentioned after "that" game that he was someone they were looking at.
Keepers from opposition teams rarely stick in the memory, but I always remember Russell being very good at Darlington, so he'd be my pick based on that.

Miller's pretty much said he's off to the FL but has said if he did stay in the Conference (by some minor miracle IMO) it'll be with Lincoln and no-one else.

Good luck to him, a solid performer and a nice guy, hope he finds a decent club and gets gametime, will be welcomed back at the Bank which is more than most.

Least Miller won't be turning up with Grimsby against us next season then! As with Tomlinson, I don't begrudge him a shot in the FL one bit, just glad we won't be facing him. Good luck Tom, he has been a great player for us and deserves success wherever he ends up.

with Waterfall moving to Lincoln, Mills says he already has a replacement lined up ready to sign.

Strong rumours it could be Dan Purslow from York.

Not a fan of Purslow personally but he wouldnt be a step down from Waterfall. Still hoping for Riley back but doubt that will happen

I think it's time for Mills to raid Gateshead.
He's been on the phone to a few of them already without much success. But who knows, if our manager situation continues to drag on then it may happen. Also a big factor could be that he lost the dressing room last season, and a number of them have made strong noises that they don't like him.

Magnay said the same thing about Mills as the reason for him leaving Gateshead.

We're expected to announce another signing tomorrow lunchtime, a striker apparently.

Us, apparently. Is he less shit than Newton?

Newton was never a L1 player, so you were onto a loser there straight away.

I put this about Miller in the Confirmed Thread a couple of days ago:

Aye, I'm hoping he's as value for money as Tomlinson!

Miller's a weird one because he's actually a CB but we stuck him at RB for a few games and I think he and we realised he's actually better there than everyone thought he'd be (perhaps better than CB). He looked a bit unsure at first but after 10 games or so it was like he'd been playing there for years.

He gets forward as much as Newton did, just not got as good a end product. He'll not get anywhere near as many assists as Newton, who also took set pieces. He's probably more defensive minded and certainly better at defending.

The only slight concern when we signed him 3(?) years ago was his injury record but he had a clean bill of health up until November time last year and then the rest of the season was stop-start with groin problems.

A lot of hoping for Ross Hannah,

I'd prefer Emile Heskey :heskey:followed by Michael Owen making a come back, 'Kevin Keegan little smashers'

As much as I like Tom, is he a starter for a team looking for promotion? Probably not, solid 7/10 player in the conference, but unlike Newton, he gave his all for us rather than taking his bat and ball and going home and will be welcomed back with open arms.

Do you guys mean Danny Parslow? As in the guy that was on loan with us? Looked okay at times with us on the rare occasions he was used in a holding role, however he was clearly a weak link at the back. Pushing Toto out to RB and Magnay to LB in the playoff semis instead of playing Parslow when Robertson got injured tells you what you need to know.

A centre back is supposedly close to signing as well.
Looks like it's Ian Sharps, had agreed to join Telford but they're now saying he's heading our way.

I remember Rodman saying similar last year, said he would never sign for another Conference club as he was already at the best one.
Then he signed for Gateshead........
And that worked out REALLY well.......... :ffs:

Well he has had offers from League 2 clubs and interest from League 1 aswell so I doubt he will be going anywhere other than the FL.

I remember when we signed him and looking at what you lot were saying about him. World class when on form but rarely on form and all the other posts about him and i remember thinking sour grapes. However you lot were so right. On the games that he turned up, he was brilliant. But most of the post match comments were either
1. Was Rodman actually playing
2. How bad was Rodman today...

I would love to know how he seemingly got the rep of being one of the better players in the league...

He kept scoring wonder goals in the 2nd half of the 13/14 season, which masked his very ordinary 1st half of that season.
I was disappointed that he left, but looking back on it now, very pleased.
One interesting thing was that after our 2 2 draw this season, he seemed as delighted as any of our players at our late equaliser, we thought afterwards that maybe his head was still here a little bit!

I don't quite see it like that as Magnay was playing LB either way. Toto has played a fair amount at RB before and his extra pace may have gotten him the nod. Parslow is a steady signing in this division and I wouldn't mind seeing him as versatile back-up but do think we can do better.
