I’m predicting a Fondop-esque start from Hooper.

Shamir Mullings trialling with us today - looks like he played for both Dagenham and Maidstone last season - any good?

I remember Maidstone fans complaining about him quite a lot. So that probably tells you all you need to know..

We had a couple of new trialists on show against Fleetwood yesterday (along with Barnum Bobb and the keeper)

Michael Chambers previously of Dulwich Hamlets, who looked decent.

And a Portuguese winger called Vasco Lopez who I wasn't as keen on. Big, reasonably quick and has a few tricks though so you never know.

Hooper looked really good. I think we might actually score goals this season. FEAR US
I liked the winger, every time he received the ball his first thought was to bring it forward or look to play someone through. Also showed good ability on the ball in tight areas and looked quite strong. My only worry is taking him to Portugal with us. He might not want to come back after he’s spent time back in that tropical climate again..

Chris Zebroski on our bench today too apparently. Must be taking a break from his marital woes.

Lewis Moore - former Dag GK?

Aaron Simpson - ?

Alfy Whittingham - Havant, Hungerford?

Harry Woodward - ?

Dear god. He is one of the worst forwards I have ever seen turn out for us.

Mullings has also signed permanently I believe, can't be announced yet. Fantastic!

Trouble with Devs is that we never gave him a proper run of games at left back.

He should’ve been for us too but was often played out of position at left back.

We tried him here there and everywhere but he was never given a run of games in the side. As a result, he never looked match fit when we brought him in. There's still a decent player in there but it will take signing for a club like Aldershot to bring it out.

No he was a left back who filled in at centre mid. Midfield is not his position, he's clearly rubbish in those vids.

I would've liked to see him at right back. Reckon he'd be canny at dealing with them long diagonal balls.

He's been a centre mid for most of his career, we played him there for two seasons back in 2008-10.

Looks like he can actually take a corner. That'll be a pleasant change.

Devs is one of those luxury players who only really fits one position, attacking mid. For the last few seasons we’ve played 4-4-2 and 4-3-3, none of those will suit a player like him, because he doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body (Hartlepool playing him at left back is hilarious). We tried to shoehorn him left of the midfield 4 and he was just lost and last season he rarely got a chance because you can’t trust him defensively in a midfield and he doesn’t have the pace (or any pace) for the wide positions. He only really had the odd substitute appearance and that’s not going to help a player like him pick up any form or fitness. Play him attacking mid in front of the midfield and he could still be of use in this league.

This is a more fair assessment of Deverdics, decent set piece in him too.

Seems like Barrow are sincerely looking at signing Harrison.

I get that he was decent for you a few years back, but any essence of that striker is long gone. He was beyond awful for us - lethargic, slow, couldn't be bothered. I think I'd have Shaun Batt up front before him, because atleast the bloke gave some semblance of effort.

You really, really want to be looking elsewhere.

Pools being linked and have apparently already had some talks with ex Bolton LB and Hartlepool lad Andrew Taylor.

Saw he was captain of Bolton last season. Surely no chance of that?

They said there was no chance of us signing David Vaughan last season. We did and he was awful and we got relegated.

He was great for us when he joined, and I would go as far as saying he was a better footballer than Andy Cook - but a long lay off with a knee injury and he came back a different player. His last 4/5 months he was woeful, and was glad that Sutton took him off our hands.

I can't understand Evatt wanting him - apparently he liked him when they were Chesterfield team mates - and I can't understand the fans saying he's worth another shot. For his wages, I'd much rather have a teenager on loan or take a chance on any half-decent forward from the league below.

Kyel Reid was absolutely dreadful for us last season, an absolute shadow of his former self that I saw play for Bradford and Preston against us a few years ago! Completely finished, steer clear county
