Most of our fans would be happy for him to be a squad player for us, even in the Championship.

There’s no doubting his footballing ability, Barry Bannan and Garry Monk especially have raved about how good he is in training etc but he’s still built like a child which is what’s holding him back.

Non league will probably break him then

He does indeed look very young. Does he get stuck in or does he shy away from tackles? I feel like bulking up isn't necessarily the problem a lot of time, it's the desire to win the ball and not be scared that a lot of creative midfield type of youngsters suffer from. Also appreciate that you might not have seen him a great deal.

Have seen the majority of games he’s played really, he gets up and down well and isn’t scared of getting a foot in but he’s not the type to go flying into tackles. It’s more he gets pushed off it a bit too easily when he does have it, but that’s in the Championship so he might have a bit more of a footballing brain the most in the Conference and be a step ahead.

I hope that he’s better than the last player you loaned us, Jake Kean.

He played as if there was a force field across his goal line so he couldn’t step over it.

Notts County fans, someone on our forum has mentioned a possible signing ( we need a striker) being Kyle Wootton, heard anything your end?

Nah nothing our end. It’d take a big offer for us to sell, he’s very much our main striker and focal point. As good as he is in this league as well, I think League One would be a step too far for him probably.

Agree with Jacob, although his record on paper looks impressive. He’s attracted a bit of criticism recently for missing a few chances where it was easier to score, he would definitely have to improve that in L1, but his hold up play is good. However as Jacob says, it would throw our plans in disarray somewhat so would need to be a very big offer. I don’t know if there is something built into the Football Radar (our owners’ stats company) model though where we sell at a certain point/profit (was he free? If not was a pretty small fee) and reinvest in a target that has already been identified? Or he may have a clause if a league club comes in? We’ll see.

Oh and re this Grimsby lad, we signed Matty Wolfe on loan from Barnsley last summer, all their fans said he should be in the first team squad etc and what a great signing it was for NL, etc.

Literally only played in the trophy. Although that could have just been Ardley being a prick.

We’d sell if a good enough offer came in, part of what we’re trying to do is sell when a player is at their most valuable, but I think you’re talking £150k+ for Wootton and personally I wouldn’t be paying that. He’s a very good target man and may have a career at a higher level in a two, but he misses too many chances to do the role he does for us (effectively up top on his own) much higher than this. His goalscoring record is still good here because we create so many chances that he can afford to miss some, but you’d imagine that wouldn’t be the case so much at a higher level.

Rodrigues is the Notts forward I was expecting us to have a battle to hold onto, but all has been thankfully quiet on that front. We signed him on a three-year deal mind, so you’re talking mega money to get him this summer.

Like most players, I’ll wait until I’ve seen him play before judging him. When do you ever get loaned a young lad for the parent team to say that he’s absolutely shit?

I'd be surprised if we sold him right now but everyone has their price. He's been brilliant for us and we'd have to sign a similar standard replacement which wouldn't be cheap.

Let’s not forget Jake Reeves had a clause in his deal which said he could leave if a FL team came in..

Reeves was a league player who we persuaded to drop down (might as well not have bothered tbh) though. Wootton was a kid who couldn’t get a game for Scunthorpe, and we paid a fee for. Might have a release clause, but can’t see it being one like Reeves’.

Maybe not, but I was surprised Reeves did tbh given his injury problems.

Can’t see there being anything in the Plymouth link though. Let’s say HYPOTHETICALLY there was, we’d need an experienced target man pretty quick, who could we replace him with?

Got to be Simon Denton hasn’t it, given our penchant for signing Chessie squad players.

Hahaha, get him in. In all seriousness, I don’t think we’d go for a target man. I’m not convinced Burchnall sees that kind of striker as what he wants longer term, he’s just got him and needs to use him. Whether that’d be sensible at this level is another matter.

I was very sorry to see Reeves go. A midfield of him, Palmer and Francis would have been a very solid platform to play a front three of Wootton, Rodriguess and Roberts.

It's possible and if it's his last year under contract we may have to sell him or he'll walk for free in the summer which would go against the moneyball philosophy we're supposed to be going with.

we will be making a decision on David Jones this week, he has been getting put through his paces to prove his fitness after nearly 2 seasons not playing and has played CB for the last two games to cover injuries. if the price is right he is basically a Hollywood red.

Seems Furman is no longer on the cards for one reason or another. Parky wants at lease another 2 or 3 in the building before end of the transfer window

The latest from us is Wild is hopeful of at least 4 new signings in time for the Maidenhead game. They are practically done but just having a few paperwork issues. 3 of them we know are young trialists. There was a mention of a fifth signing last week but that's gone quiet. Guessing it's not close or it's fallen through.

Jamie Cooke, young attacking midfielder who's just signed from Colne is heading out on loan. He smashed it at Colne who are in tier 8 with something like 9 goals and 6 assists in 13 games. Suspect, he will end up at a Conf North or Northern Prem side.

Dean Furman has been spotted on trial at Alty. Looks like that would be a good signing for them.

Sounding more and more like Siriki Dembele is gonna be getting sold by Posh going off a pod with their chairman. Sounds like they know what they're spending their dough on already. Barry Fry also doing his thing and using the media to drive prices up. Most importantly though, it'll mean a decent windfall for us.

Thank God for that. We had him 10 years a go and he was crap then and he's even worse now.
Techically, you might not be wrong there but in his defence between then and now he has gone on to score about 200 goals.

*Tom Denton - who just had his second knee surgery of the year. No news on how long he will be out but hope its not something that ends his career.
