We’ve got a big battle on keeping Rodrigues in January. Lincoln, Rotherham, Blackpool, Blackburn and Portsmouth all there watching him last night. Nigel Clough as well, but that’s not happening. :D
I heard they were all there to watch the killer, Kairo!

Serious though, please don't sell Rodrigues to that mob

The time to start panicking is when Peterborough start sending scouts to watch him.

Craig Clay being heavily linked with us, along with Callum Guy (still) and *gulp* James Norwood

Norwood would obviously be ridiculous, I would say I can't see that happening but with some of the obscene amounts of cash being flung around by a few of the clubs of this level it wouldn't surprise me at all really.

Clay is a solid if unspectacular CM, nothing more nothing less. 6/7 out of 10 every game. Perhaps what you need in the middle of the park? I'd have him in our squad again, but he wouldn't be nailed on to start every match.

Callum Guy would be a quality signing, again just highlighting the absurd level of backing you've got for the fifth tier.

Carlisle are 2nd bottom of League Two, can see why he'd want to move.

Didn't Wrexham get that big money centre half from Carlisle, as well?

Proper raid job by Parky and the boys.

Thought that when I read it, don't think Wrexham are making many friends in Cumbria (I'm sure they'll be devastated)

Yeah, Aaron Hayden. Guy got the most assists in the division last season I think, so while he might not want to be second bottom of the Football League you'd think at 24 he'd want to be going up not down though, hence the absurd backing comment as there'll be other clubs looking at him higher up I'd imagine.

Norwood is good mates with Mullin from Tranmere apparently and is frozen out by Ipswich. With his driving ban he will want a taxi into work

RE: Guy, we were heavily linked with him in the summer to the point where Carlisle commented on it I think as it was after the Hayden raid.

Ended up with David Jones....

our midfield need someone to hold it together, Clay could do that job and I wouldn't mind if he gave a 6 or 7 out of 10 performance every game providing the two other midfielders have an 8 because of him.

Well everyone knows they don't have any friends in our neck of the woods, or Chipmunx's at least.

Where's the Craig Clay rumour come from? I saw one person post his name in a thread on RP but that's about it.

Most of our fans want us to go after Kyle Wootton. Not sure we should be stirring up some more brotherhood beef at the moment though.

Wootton is out of contract in the summer and I’m still not completely convinced he’s what Burchnall would ideally like in a striker, so stranger things have happened.

We’d be mad to entertain it though, he’s great.

You can buy Stephan Payne off us as Woottons replacement. £30k he’s yours…

I’d definitely have Clay back, one thing always guaranteed is 100% effort whether 5-0 up or 5-0 down.
I had a chat with him a few years ago at services while he was waiting to be picked up by the Town coach on the way to Southport away and he’s probably the nicest bloke I’ve ever spoken to too.

Clay sounds like another Luke Young going off that. We could do with a ball winner in the middle of the park.

A bit more presence than Young if I remember rightly. I was always impressed with him at Grimsby amd Orient dont here- unspectacular but probably the sort of player we are lacking.

He signed a new two year deal at Orient earlier in the year so wouldn't be cheap? I would be very happy if the Clay and Guy rumours are true- would definitely improve our midfield.

Guy's been garbage this season (as far as I can gather from social media), so maybe he downed tools after not getting his big move in the summer. He was just about okay against us last weekend and Radio Cumbria said it was the best he'd played all season.

Not get much for him either will you what with his deal being up soon. Baller tho

Probably not enough to make it worth selling in January. Depends if we think we can get a reasonable replacement, I guess.

I’m surprised such a big club is after him, mind. Big fan but top of League One seems a stretch.

One things for sure, none of our permanent players will be poached in January........unfortunaltely!!!

We will be off loading to bring new blood in. I would hope at the very least we bring in a right back and a couple of midfielders.

Kyle Wootton should not be anywhere near a L1 club with realistic promotion aspirations. Would be an uninspiring L2 signing for me.
Edit: He's probably better than he used to be, but I never rated him in the past when I've seen him in the league.

He’s a miles better player than when we first signed him. The above was generally the view of Scunthorpe fans and a lot of his former loans, and he wasn’t great here at first to be honest, but seemed to grow in confidence from being made the main man and us going out of our way to get him permanently.

He’ll have a good career back in the league, fantastic link-up player, great in the air and works extremely hard. He’s not a great finisher though and misses quite a lot of chances, think that would hold him back at a Portsmouth kind of level, but he plays upfront on his own here and it maybe would be less of an issue if he was in a two.
