One things for sure, none of our permanent players will be poached in January........unfortunaltely!!!

We will be off loading to bring new blood in. I would hope at the very least we bring in a right back and a couple of midfielders.
Tough to off load though, when Canvey Island and Concord Rangers have better players than you.

He’s a miles better player than when we first signed him. The above was generally the view of Scunthorpe fans and a lot of his former loans, and he wasn’t great here at first to be honest, but seemed to grow in confidence from being made the main man and us going out of our way to get him permanently.

He’ll have a good career back in the league, fantastic link-up player, great in the air and works extremely hard. He’s not a great finisher though and misses quite a lot of chances, think that would hold him back at a Portsmouth kind of level, but he plays upfront on his own here and it maybe would be less of an issue if he was in a two.

Also 6’3, and very good at defending set pieces, which often goes unnoticed. Think we’d miss that part of his game if he went.

We have a soon to be fit Tom Denton available from February who does the very same think. £100k he’s yours.

So he's actually more of a #10 than a #9 then? That's interesting, I've always thought he was supposed to be an out and out fox in the box kind of player. Do you think he could do a job at mid/lower table L1 side or would L2 be a better move then, if he goes up?

He’s a classic target man really. Not a fox in the box type at all, although does get most of his goals from crosses, is a better finisher when he doesn’t have time to think.

It’s hard to say. I think there’s a chance he could step up to League One in a different role to the one he plays here, as a second striker with an on-the-shoulder player alongside him, and in a more direct team where his ability in the air comes into play more than it does here.

Bloody hell, BBC Nottingham adding Joel Taylor and Matty Palmer to the list of players there’s interest in now. Are we even doing well enough to have half of our team nicked in January!?!

With all this talk about our players anybody would think we were 10 points clear at the top. Bit sick of local journos doing their best to stir up interest as well. Who’s supposed to be in for Taylor and Palmer?

No names, just a question Charlie Slater put to Burchnall - said that there’s people there every game watching the same names, those two plus Rodrigues and Wootton.

There are reports that were the latest club in the Jordan Maguire-Drew collection. Can’t say I’m inspired at all though Hurst has a knack of talent out of grumpy underachievers (see Jon Nolan). It’s a winger who’s not always injured I suppose.

Classic NL player, flatters to deceive for first 10 games then nosedives

It’s a big 10 games for us so if that happens then I’ll take it.

He’s definitely singing today btw…

JMD seems to be one of those who gets homesick anywhere outside of the M25. He's got ability though and is surprisingly young still.

I'm not sure JMD is an underachiever as such, he's a decent NL player but so far hasn't quite been good enough to play consistently at EFL level, but he's only just turned 24.

It’s weird that we’re signing another winger given we have Bapaga, Sousa and Clifton (can’t believe Clifton is essentially a winger now). On top of that Scannell and Grant are returning shortly with Max Wright behind them.

I know the 3 injured are injury prone, but if even 1 of them returns, we have 5 first team players vying for 2 slots. In reality it’d be 4 vying for one slot given Clifton is pretty much undroppable ATM

Didn’t he sign for Woking to mild fanfare in the summer? Assume that’s not worked out.

Are Scannell, Grant and Wright returning though? They've all been returning all season, aside from those couple of matches Wright managed. On that basis, it makes perfect sense that we're signing a winger as we've only had two fit natural wingers all season. Scannell and Wright are lost causes unfortunately. We're gonna be left with Sousa, Bapaga, JMD and possibly Grant vying for two spots which is about right. Clifton essentially being a winger is another reason why we're signing one more in this position too, I'd imagine? So he can go back to his natural position in the middle, where we're definitely lacking a bit of bite and energy.

Hadn’t looked at it like that with Clifton purely because when Hurst has had the option of Sousa and Bapaga, he’s tended to only play one (still can’t get my head round Bapaga not playing).

Yeah I'm not sure why he doesn't like them together. Off the top of my head, I think they both started vs Barnet. Eastleigh and Bromley? So two wins and a weird defeat you can write off with seven goals scored doesn't seem bad. Maybe he sees them both as a bit weak/wishy washy?

Scannell and Grant will be lucky to play this season never mind this year. They have been training for weeks, but Hurst said the other week he wants them to play in either a reserve game or an 11v11 training game first, he just can't get time sorted to fit one in.

Tells me he doesn't trust either to stay fit for longer than 10 minutes so can't even trust to put them on the bench yet.

This is ridiculous, he's said it a few times. You're telling me a professional football club can't cobble together a match of fringe players/youths/whatever against anyone purely for the sake of getting some players up to fitness? Needs sorting out that.

It’s one of these weird Hurst things that only seems to be an issue to him and nobody else. I’ve literally never heard of a situation like this before, as Gladders say, he must just not trust them.

We’re interested in a centre half who’s been playing NLS this season. Still getting going

Charlie Sayers, who at 17 was in our first team at the start of the season is on trial with Spurs and played for their under 18s on Saturday.

We’ve supposedly got Brandon Comley on trial, would be pretty pleased with that

We had one against Burnley last week so DC could have a look at the players who hadn’t had much/any game since he arrived a few week ago.
