I remember him, I think we were linked at one point. Wasn't his career blighted by injuries or some such?

Aye never really recovered from his injuries, he was already quite old when he joined us wasn't he? mid to late twenties I think. Once he got that second injury with us, think that was it, I believe he had a brief spell at Mansfield and Lincoln but then dropped down the leagues.

He did actually play in a charity or was it testimonial game for Mckeown earlier this season and scored like 4 or 5 goals though!

still only 36. We will probably end up with him after all the other players we are linked to fob us off

can someone delete that Mirror article link as well, its causing issues with viewing the forum

A shame. He was really good for a season or two. One of those players the opposition fears.

Yeah as Fish says, he got an injury right at the start of his second season with us and never looked the same. I think it was an ACL or something similar and he was a very explosive player. He's up there for me in terms of players we've had down here. Him, Disley or Podge for me. The season he tore it up though he was an absolute menace. Fast, powerful, clinical. Could score all types of goals. What I'd give to have that type of player right now.

He played in a charity match with and against load of old Town guard from the 90s and onwards in the summer and apparently he was the best player on the pitch. Edit: Just noticed this was mentioned further up.

Massive shame that his career turned out the way it did. He could have gone on to have been a very good striker at the level above at the very least had he not had such a bad injury.

Was the Broadley FC match in pre-season.

Tristan Abrahams to Grimsby thread on The Fishy started by the poster who started the Danny Amos thread. If Vadaine Oliver and Harry Cardwell are the calibre of strikers the top sides in this division are going after then I'd be happy with Abrahams. Although I'd want him as a replacement for Lenny and not the #9 we're still crying out for.

I know being a forward is not just about scoring goals, but 17 goals in 134 games! Yikes!

It would be uninspiring but we’d undoubtedly get more games out of him than Scannell and Grant who are just burning our money atm. I seem to remember him playing as a winger quite a few times? As SoC says, as long as he isn’t the goalscorer that we need!

Yeah weird. Have taken the link out of my post now but spireite_uk might need to edit it out of the one he's quoted too?
Tried to fix, but I think it's something in the forum back end causing problems. I've just removed the link. Someone has tried to link something in the confirmed thread too though and it's thrown a wobbly.

John-Lewis had a similar record when he came here the first time round and Hurst got a tune out of him. He'll be coming in as someone big and powerful who can run the channels, not necessarily to score goals so I wouldn't overly concerned about his record.

Still playing Actually represented three clubs this season. Hucknall Town, Eastwood and Quorn. Now part of the management team at NPL Premier Basford United
I knew he'd been/was at Basford but had no idea he'd been at that many clubs recently!

Looks like he scored a few goals in his first few games then goes of the boil. 3 in 7 at start of this season and 7 in 11 at start of last season, lots of sub appearances though and still young. If its true surely a fee, as he is contracted at Carlisle unless they want rid?

Wrexham's search for a striker seems to be a bit of a scatter gun approach.

Edit: Links are being dodgy, but Dimitri Sea has turned down an offer from a Welsh club.

Devante Rodney to Halifax, that would be our signing of intent. No idea if it has any legs in it. But just seen a few cryptic posts here and there.

Could have sworn he was killing it for Port Vale at the start of the season then picked up a long term injury. Can’t see it personally.

There's been murmurings he could be on the way out of Vale albeit Stockport and Walsall were the two who were rumoured. Probably be less likely now we've lost Dennis Politic but you never know. After looking promising last year he has been a huge letdown this time for reasons that am not too sure on.

Killed it last season for them. Hasn’t hit the same heights this season, their fans seem to think he maybe moving on.

Interesting. He’s one I could see us being in for should he be available. We are in the market for attacking options and he’s had 2 really good spells with us previously. His agent (Gareth Seddon who also used to play for us) did a podcast with our local paper a while ago and pretty much said had Port Vale not come in for him, he would have signed for us permanently.

I certainly wouldn't rule it out. We've very strangely for a team who are chasing promotion decided to go for almost a full revamp of our squad this January so it would tally up. Our manager was asked in a press conference about it last week (specifically about Walsall and Stockport) and he gave somewhat of an evasive answer on it, or at least not flat out denying it. He was last seen at Bristol Rovers then went off with what we were told was a bit of a knock but that was six weeks ago and hasn't made a matchday squad since so read into that what you will.

When are you going to let us have Tom Pett back?

Not sure he'd go back to Stockport personally. He didnt do a right lot there and they didnt play him where he wanted to play.

He's had his most prolific spells in his career with us and is loved by the fans. Be just the focal point we might need at this stage.

I'm not sure we'll get him though. 3rd loan spell possibly to get him back match fit

The Rumour linking him with us has come from the Port Vale rather than any of the ITK people that usually let stuff slip on our messageboard, alongside that we’re generally looking for more of a Quigley type so not sure if there is legs in this rumour.

But to answer your point, he did do well here but yes on the wing and think he prefers playing up front. That was two managers ago and we would play him up top this time but just like with Charman and Cardwell who went elsewhere we can’t guarantee a start every week so I think Halifax is more likely if the choice is his to make.

Rowe has confirmed we’ve had a bid for one of our players, and it’s been rejected….

For Saidou Khan though… and he’s said he doesn’t want to leave either so guess that’ll be the end of that particular interest
