Word is Hippolyte is just coming in as a versatile option and we're still looking to bring in a more traditional central midfielder, most likely after the EFL window has shut. I think a lot of clubs at this level will want to see how the EFL squads settle down post their window and see what is available.

You could only DREAM of signing a midfielder from Burton Albion you had literally never heard of until two days ago.
We did that in the summer to be fair. Imagine having all that oil money and choosing to replicate Grimsby's transfer activity.

Tbf we've had a window we could only dream of. We've strengthened problem areas just like they said we would.

These long contracts though mean we are stuck with virtually this entire side for the next couple of seasons, hopefully it's good enough.

Agree with this, one of my top 3 wishes to see as a Pools fan was signing a midfielder from Burton Albion and we have just achieved that massive feet. Proper club status retained forever I believe in accordance to the doctrine.

Hope he's better than the last striker you signed from there.

It's quite clear to me that Parkinson is building a side to take on League 2, as well as this level. I'd expect a fairly quick rise to League One once we're out of this hellhole. I mean, Sutton are near the top and they're one of the worst sides that I've seen win this league.

Although longer term contracts for the likes of Palmer, Tozer and McFadzean may remain questionable, they were probably necessary to get these deals over the line and even though their wages may look out of place at this level, they wouldn't necessarily look out of place 2 steps up. I'm comfortable with us giving out long term deals to the likes of Tom O'Connor and Jordan Davies as they're young and will likely be at the level required when their contracts come towards the end.

Im pretty happy with our transfer business, we've shipped out 4 players who were unlikely to play and brought in 3 players who look better than what we had. I dont know much about O'Connor and will reserve judgement till Ive seen him play a few times. But his stats so far this season in L1, pedigree and what Burton fans have said about him all seem positive. Ultimately he's a 22 year old who was captain of his Southampton youth team and a regular in League 1. Grimsby fans can laugh it up all they like.

Don't agree at all re: Palmer and McFadzean. I'd be bowled over if Palmer is good enough for L1 in 1.5 years (at the earliest). L2 is his ceiling for me. McFadzean you've been told how shite he is by pretty much everyone.

Tozer can definitely do a job at L1 though, I don't know much about at all about Davies and O'Connor but they sound like exciting signings.

Sorry, what don't you agree with? I didn't say they were good enough for League One, I said the long term deals were necessary to get the players in now. Palmer destroyed your backline, if you were at the game at our place you'd have seen the quality he possesses at this level and he is exactly the sort of player we need up front. We haven't seen McFadzean play, but as PP doesn't really have much faith in Cam Green or Jamie Reckord, both of which have departed the club, we didn't have any players who can call left back their best position so it was a problem area. As he was a fairly regular starter in a Plymouth side that won promotion from League Two just 2 seasons back, I'd assume there must be some quality there that perhaps just doesn't reach the dizzy heights of League One. The Plymouth fan I know rates him highly as well. Both of those signings are to get us out of this league and perhaps the next, but I doubt we'd utilise either much if we went up to the third tier. We'd probably loan them back down to this level or something if they wanted regular football.

Thou doth protest too much. Lot of justification for what are some truly awful signings. Wrexham won’t be making the playoffs based on this window.

Would think O’Connor would have been at Saints whilst Les Reed was there, so would of been on his radar.

You said they wouldn't look out of place 2 steps up? Oh unless, you were talking about their wages? In which case, I don't really get what your point is. I've seen Palmer quite a lot mate, both for us and against us. I know what he's about. Destroyed our backline is a very grandiose analysis of scoring a fairly easy chance in what was an evenly contested 1-0 win for you. Sounded like he had a decent enough game but destroyed us? Nah, not having that at all.

Put £50 on it?
Well I certainly hope that you make the playoffs as that'll be one of our main title rivals out of the picture. On a more serious note is it a deliberate policy change for Wrexham to now start publishing transfer fees or is it a case of the selling team trying to justify the sale to their own fans. I think most of ours have been 'undisclosed' although there were plenty of unofficial reports about the Madden deal.

I think it's all come from the selling team. With Palmer for example we were saying undisclosed on the press releases it was the Wimbledon chairman who came out with the figure. I think Cheltenham did the same iirc

Yes, I meant the wages. I'm not sure why i need to justify my point?

Palmer did have a field day against Pearson and Waterfall. Maybe you boys just had a stinker in defence, or maybe, just maybe, he's improved since you last saw him.

why have we rattled Grimsby so much, they aren't even going for promotion this year are they? I thought they were taking a sabbatical?

I just thought it was an odd thing to say now that I understand what you meant. The team Parkinson is building will hopefully get you out of this division and then League 2 quickly and also Ollie Palmer's wages don't look out of place in League 1?

Interesting that you say he had a field day and destroyed us but was part of a side that managed 3 shots on target and had less possession. This is the first I've heard of his virtuoso performance. I seem to remember the phrase "decent debut" being used in the matchday thread.

When do Wrexham go into the Holloway phase of squad building then - 3 year contracts thrown out like randomised confetti for strikers that are lethal at tier 7 and below on the basis that one of them will be the next Vardy...

Definitely Ollie BEEF and not Wrexham BEEF. Also, I think we've been fine lately except for giving it the big 'un about the Notts sell out which was always gonna happen. And I'm about as certain as I can be without having been at the match that Palmer didn't destroy us 1-0.

How's he looked for you lot? I'd imagine he could more than do a job in this division, but it's been a while since I last saw him play.

Fat and shit, if his appearance at our place is anything to go by...
