Signing one was bad enough, but why on earth do you think a second player even we don't want is a good idea?

We are gluttons for punishment . And our manager is addicted to signing wingers . Rumour has it he's joined Winger lovers anonymous.

Not happy about Briscoe but to be fair to Heslop he was about the only player who played ok against Woking. Maybe these players just hated playing for Torquay?

Possibly. Briscoe is still overweight and unfit eighteen months after signing for us, although given his age and fitness when he signed I doubt it was specifically because he hated it here. I think he's happy with his lifestyle and unlikely to change now, but as a result he can't finish a full 90 minutes and isn't reliable for putting in a physical shift. He has talent on the ball, but not enough to overcome his limitations off it.

Heslop was a Paul Cox signing and then offered nothing for the other managers we've had since. Getting them both off the wage bill is great for us, as it's allowed us to bring in a few new players. I am surprised though that other clubs have taken them, especially ones higher in the league that aren't totally skint and desperate.

If we're looking for better then I would have thought Wrexham would be too.

Typical Mills signings really, players he knows. Briscoe hasn't been any good since Mansfield and we already have an overweight and unfit player on the books in Fowler. I certainly hope we can do better and it's just paper talk.

It probably didn't help Heslop being brought in by Cox who subsequently left in the way he did. We needed a specific type of player and it was obviously felt he fitted the bill. We've had lots of players who looked poor with us then went on to do ok elsewhere, and vice versa. Storer last season being a case in point.

As you'd expect with first offers, our 3 have been rejected.

If you ask nicely, you can probably have DSY back.

He's not getting a look in here anymore.

I think he was one who Moyses couldn't wait to get out of the door. He's too tied to London.

An in the know guy on our forum has said that we are in for Scott Vernon. Apparently we were close to signing him a couple of weeks ago but Shrewsbury are waiting on another striker coming in. Once that happens then they will listen to offers.

Would be a good signing for this level if true.

Heslop is/was a class act. The only question was if he was past it, or if it was a Torquay curse.

Was. Perhaps due to a lack of match fitness here, but he was crap. He started playing slightly better as his contract neared it's end, but I don't know whether that's coincidence or not. He is not good enough for top end at this level. Nor is Briscoe.

The jury is still out on both of them. I'm prepared to give them both a chance.

Bid rejected for Rhead from, as you'd expect, Barrow. Put in on the morning of the FGR game. Good conduct again.

Have we offended Barrow in some way? Christ they took 4 points off us!!!
They can have Beevers if they want!!!
Between Mr Cox's trying to pinch our players and our manager's lack of tactical nous they've done a grand of fucking our season up!

Chairman has also said there are six players on the list to sign by the end of the window. Clearly a centre forward is one of them.

The bid was lodged last week, but it's taken until now for Lincoln to make a decision. Sounds like they considered it.

Saturday, before the FGR game, was last week.

I highly doubt we've considered selling our top scorer and the focal point of our play to Paul Cox for presumably a low 5-figure fee, given his actions in November with Hearn.

Fair enough, thought you meant it was today. As I've said before, I've no opinion on Cox yet so not gonna blindly stick up for him, but I highly doubt Rhead will have found out about any bid on the morning of the match - the club will have been the first to know and they can reject it out of hand.

Seems that we're looking at resigning Michael Coulson. I presume as back up, would be an excellent back up signing too IMO.

Apparently you're making an improved offer for him..
Not sure why your manager wants a player he only used as an impact player?
Started every game for us this season and only been subbed once.

To be fair, used him as an impact player for Mansfield who was fighting for promotion, then in league 2...

Barrow are the opposite end of the table

The thing is, Paul Cox sounds as if he actually believes we're going to sell to his club. It's absolutely brilliant comedy, I must admit.

Not too certain a lad who has lived very locally for the majority of his career is going to want to relocate to a place that hasn't discovered electricity or running water yet, but I'll let him decide.

As mentioned on an earlier page, there's some increased speculation that Scott Brown is likely to join us. We've effectively got four Conference North central midfielders, so any quality at all is welcome. Can't say I've seen him (or noticed him) before.
