Some early names - Dan Bradley, Bradley Wood, Alex Rodman, Lee Beevers, Jamie Taylor (not sure he'd move from down there back up here) and Kevin Sainte-Luce.

Beevers is pretty nailed on IMO.

Beevers will definitely join as he's local and wanted to come back in January but Mansfield blocked it.
Looking at retained list we could need as many as 12 players.

Yep. Think there will be a lot of interest in some of our better players as I dont expect much if any of our current squad to stay on in the Conf North even those under contract.

Dan Bradley and Bradley and even Tom Shaw are good solid players at Conference Premier Level.

Shaw's name has been mentioned on our forum, he scored that stunner for you against us didn't he?

Yep thats the one. He is a really good player. Great at sweeping up in Midfield and picking up a lose ball and finding a teammate. Unfortunately he is the first player the manager drops out the team

Tbh, I don't know about the latter. Rodman I vaguely remember from Grimsby, but he's played around these parts for a while (Trinity, Lincoln United, York, Cods)

Dan Bradley would be a great pick up for anyone at Conference level. Make sure he doesn't get too homesick playing for you though...

I'd take Ben Tomlinson here all day long. I'm a fan of Sainte-Luce also

We are reputedly looking at Matty Taylor from Bristol Rovers. I know precisely nothing about him.
Hope he's better than Lee Gregory.

Millwall were absolutely shite whenever I saw them this season, which wouldn't have helped Gregory. On the other hand, Gregory mopped up in this division due to being fast and good at one on ones in a direct team which obviously isn't gonna be a mainline of goals in The Championship. Second season with Millwall might prove more fruitful in a division lower.

We all thought whilst he was outstanding for us last season and made 32 goals essentially all by himself, that Championship was possibly a league too high for him.

Having said that, he still top scored in a very very poor Millwall side

We've so far released about 7/8 of the title winning side, with some first-team regulars gone. Speculation locally suggests we'll be rivalling the biggest budgets in the division (because of location we always have to pay a little bit extra, it seems), and also that we've got some big signings lined up.

Rumours so far range from Omar Bogle (Conference North's stand-out player this season), to the daft Ched rumours, and even some far-fetched talk of Grant Holt returning.

Personally, I reckon we'll be competing against Carlisle for players and signing at least 10 League 2/Conference Prem established names. Chairman has also been quoted in the paper as saying he's after promotion in two seasons. Obviously, we've been in this league before and know it's not that simple, but he does seem to be prepared to chuck money at it. We'll no doubt be unpopular for that reason, but I think we're all looking forward to it and believe that top half is reasonable.

Will he also be buying some frost covers for the pitch?

I've probably been a bit harsh on him. He actually did play well for the vast majority of games, albeit without offering much in the way of threat. Certainly under Holloway we were absolutely atrocious and he had very few chances. Under Harris he improved hugely scoring 4 in ten. He may well be far more of a threat in league one, assuming he doesn't head back up north.

Taylor is certainly at the same level as Gregory, not from what I've gathered but they're also different types of players. Taylor is not a natural goalscorer like Gregory is but seems to do a lot of work for the team in disrupting the opposition defence and creating space for his partner and the rest of the team.
Gregory was always going to have a tough time making a jump of 3 levels into a struggling team. Remember, he had only played that one successful season in the Conference Premier for Halifax.

rumour that harris is interesting the trannys up the road.

Mills is speaking to Bishop, Keates, Ashton and Harris this week so will probably find out how true this is - probably the usual Red Passion panic rumour though

We always seem to milk our release lists compared to other teams. Taking longer or releasing it in parts. Does ma nut in. Be nice to see the list released in the next couple of days. Hopefully it will be fairly ruthless as its not been ruthless enough over the last few seasons.

I can see why we would want to keep Ashton and Clarke but i think the rest should go personally.

Well you guys where a league team once a upon time so why not, wish we could find a sugar daddy to do the same thing with us.

He joined us at Unibond level and came up with us - improving as he went - then with one huge improvement last season.

Everything I've seen from Taylor suggests he works very hard but lacks that bit of quality and he can't really finish.

Might do well in League 2 but can't see him going any further than that. Working hard and being a pest only gets you so far.

You reckon he will carry on playing?

i think he will want to. not too sure where he lives but i think it is in north west so he may drop down a level to get player/coach role elsewhere. injury prone in last two seasons but managed properly could do a job
