Around there I think, yeah.

Agreed, it's all about being effective at what he brings to the side and you can't fault him from that point of view because he's very good at what he does but for that to happen, you've got to make him pretty central to what you're doing and go all in on that sort of style like Gillingham have and Northampton did. Otherwise you end up with a player who doesn't really bring much to the table like his Crewe spell albeit they're a pretty extreme example in terms of style.

I liked him here, we had him as a young lad just released from Wednesday. Top notch attitude, will always give 100% and is a nuisance.
Our style is launch it, whether it's by boot or hand. If he joins then he should do ok I'd have thought.

I don't want us to play this way and don't believe we should be, considering the money we've got.

Yeah we've got the money to attract someone who can bring a decent style of football in. We hired Parkinson though and his style is what we will stick to. Personally I'm not too arsed so long as it gets us out of this league, not many teams go up playing pretty football.

Once we're out of here, we can maybe look at going down the Swansea route of playing nice football, but I suspect Parkinson could be here a while if he takes us up.

Who on earth argued this point? Phil Parkinson is our manager, we know we're all about the direct style of play.

I think it's my fault. I argued that there is a difference between being direct and what Keates was doing.

Apparently he looked rubbish in the game Parkinson went to on Tuesday. Guess it doesn't matter if he's up top, acting as a big lump and winning headers for Mullin to chase on to. If Harrogate can go up with Mark Beck playing that role then we can go up with Palmer playing that role.

Truly champagne football being planned at the Cae Ras.

Palmer must be a different player to what he used to be if he’s expected to win headers now.

Just going off his height, he's half a ft taller than the strikers we're fielding now.

Like I say maybe he’s changed his style, to be fair he’s got a lot better since we dragged him out of non-league football but he couldn’t head a ball to save his life then.

Interesting to see who. That Mingi lad a first sign you might be learning your lesson and moving away from the Notts early 19/20 playbook of 30 year old League One/Two players, Palmer less so.

It is also from our playbook of signing players who had a good game against us. Which ended in disaster

Apparently one of the players is definitely from Wimbledon. That'll be Palmer then.

You'd imagine he'd partner Mullin well, at this level.

I’d want that Andrews lad who’s been at Aldershot if you’re signing someone from Wimbledon.

RE Mingi, it looks like we could potentially use his break clause that he has in his loan to Maidenhead. common sense would be take him on loan for the remainder of the season and see where we are come May

Mingi tore you apart at York Road in front of your owners a couple of months back, but appears injury prone and unable to last more than 60 minutes a game.

currently out with a dislocated shoulder too.... hence my thoughts on getting him on loan first

We are trying to tie up Danny Rose from Grimsby on loan to end of season, or permanent. Been decent since he arrived. With Jake Lawlor and Jake Cooper returning to the Hangers and Rotherham respectively, we are on the lookout for replacement CB's - anyone got a Jake that would fit the bill? We have got David Wheater training with us after an operation.
Pretty sure if you want him we will let him go, can’t see him ever playing here again.

But Wrexham are not a direct hoofball side haha
Haha, yes we are!

Pass the ball around the back three nicely (sideways) until one of them launches it forward. Didn't look as bad when Hyde was fit and could hold it, since he's been injured/unfit we have handicapped Mullin by launching it at him (and 5 ft 10 Ponticelli) and relied on Mullin or Davies to do something.

Latest I have heard/read is that a new player trained with us today and several of our players have started to follow Oliver on social media, also that one of the players in talks today is from Wimbledon. Hope for it to be Woodyard, looks more likely to be Palmer but would be surprised if we were looking to sign him and Oliver with Kwarme Thomas now fit again.

Our Twitter has posted saying that today would be a good day to subscribe to our Youtube channel, so hopefully that means we're signing someone.
£180k for Palmer is absolutely mental but aside from the price tag he'd be a better all round option for you than Oliver.

Palmer can do a bit of everything, but is average at it all rather than having a specific attribute you can pin him down to. He's not a target man type as such, he didn't win many headers here despite his height but he holds the ball up ok, isn't particularly fast but equally isn't slow either, strong and is probably good for 10 goals or so a season. He had a bit of a purple patch at Crawley, which got him his L1 move but those two seasons were outliers.

Over the 18 months he was here under the Cowleys, he improved a fair bit. The only problem we found with him, and it was to his credit really, was that he'll never move anywhere to sit on a bench. As soon as it was apparent he wasn't going to start games and get enough game time, he asked to leave (not a transfer request per se). Money isn't really an issue for him either, I'm pretty sure his parents are worth a bit.
Spot on assessment of Palmer that. I think he'd be a great signing at this level. One thing I would add to Luke's comments is that I don't necessarily think the donkey tag is particularly fair. Absolutely destroyed Eastleigh in the playoff semi second leg the season we lost on pens to Bristol Rovers at Wembley:

Burgess will be decent enough down here, we had him on loan as is standard for most of our loans he hardly ever played

Do you think if you sign Burgess you'll allow Rose to come back to Darlo? Was brilliant during his loan. Armstrong said we're trying to sign him on loan or permanent.

Grimsby like signing our old players under Hurst it seems.

Burgess is pretty decent. Tidy on the ball and works hard. Probably could do with finding a way to impact a game more in the final third if he is ever to kick on in his career. His problem was the same as Amos who you’ve just signed and he just had too many better options ahead of him at this time. Good luck to him though.

I actually thought Oliver was a handy player at Notts, obviously good in the air and too clumsy to be your goal threat but can see how he’d fit alongside a Mullen, or off the bench for some hoofs and long throws.

having said that, acknowledging it doesn’t matter as they can afford it short-term, can only re-iterate that Wrexham’s transfer policy is so weird. They could genuinely be mopping up tons of young talent and create a profitable long-term business model. I hope old blokes looking for a payday is just a plan for this year only to try and will yourselves into League 2 and these are all short-term contracts.
