I don't think he'll go this season, he keeps reiterating to the media saying he's happy at Wolves and enjoying his football. I think lots of Wolves fans agree that next season though if we aren't promoted then we'll have to cash in on him.

I think he should also only move to an established Premier League side. No disrespect to Norwich but he can do better if he leaves us.

Jesus. And he was playing for us on loan last season. Things change mighty quickly in football.

18 months ago he was looking piss poor on loan at ours to be honest I pegged him as not good enough, I may have been wrong in hindsight.

That seems most likely, after a full season at this level he'll be better placed to get a move to a higher-level club, and Wolves can get more money for him. However, I could see Norwich offering in the region of £10m this summer and I think that would be pretty tempting.

Diego Poyet will be joining us on loan, any good?

Yes.

He came into our side half-way through the 2013/2014 season and went on to win the player of the year award.

You could argue we were pretty rubbish that season, so there weren't many contenders but for an 18 year old to walk into a side half-way through a Championship relegation battle and win that accolade is impressive.

Sits in front of the back four and cleans most up, not shy of a tackle and very comfortable on the ball too.

He was on loan at Huddersfield for a bit last year too, not sure he did much there though.

Hopefully he doesnt play tonight due to his head not being in the right place. He will tear us apart otherwise. On the QPR messageboards they are going to overdrive saying he will score a hat trick against us.

Barton has met with Fawaz then, looks like this is actually on.

I'd take him. We can't give him too much due to embargo and he is the kind of monster we need in that midfield, which is too soft bellied at the moment
He will do you a job this year. You will get 100% effort. You will get full blooded tackles and you will get refs booking him because of who it is.

Having said that, you will get a media circus, fights online and hollywood passes. Plus, with Barton comes a high wage demand. He wanted 40k from us to stay.

Just saw this on the Sky transfer thing:

BARTON UNLIKELY TO HEAD FOR FOREST

Joey Barton is unlikely to sign for Nottingham Forest, despite their interest, because of a disagreement over wages, according to Sky sources.

Newspaper reports on Wednesday claimed that Barton, who is a free agent after being released by Queens Park Rangers this summer, was in talks over a move to the City Ground.

But Sky sources understand Barton spoke to Reds boss Dougie Freedman much earlier this summer and told him the club could not afford his wage demands.

Brentford have accepted a £9m bid from Championship rivals Bristol City for striker Andre Gray.

The 24-year-old, who had been a target for Hull City, is believed to be discussing personal terms with Steve Cotterill's side.

Absolutely ludicrous.

Relegation battle for Brentford (OK, maybe not quite that severe, but y'know).

Have a feeling the Gray deal might be off going by Cotts interview. Baffles me how we keep being so ambitious in our signings but won't be prepared to pay a player the wages they want. I mean, that's more than fair enough, just don't waste time going for that sort of player in the first place. Why commit to the transfer fee if you aren't going to commit to wages?

Anyway - nothing's changed, we badly need to bring in 3 or 4 players.

Be glad if it is off.

Lets get back to the original SL plan - buying within our means, being sustainable and picking up young decent players who are capable at Championship level like Freeman etc.

http://www.seagulls.co.uk/news/article/connor-goldson-joins-brighton-and-hove-albion-2632868.aspx?

We've just signed Connor Goldson from Shrewsbury for an "undisclosed six-figure fee". Highly-rated young CB who won all their POTS awards last season. Another player who arrives with a lot of positive reviews, and the sort I like to see the club invest in, but am now half expecting Lewis Dunk's departure to be announced in the coming days. We've spent a fair bit over the past week (roughly £3m combined on Uwe Hunemeier & Jamie Murphy, and now this chap), so we'll be needing to fund it somehow.

Just hoping he's off to a top flight club and not Fulham, which would be a little bit rubbish really.

Sagas are stories mostly about ancient Nordic and Germanic history, about early Viking voyages, the battles that took place during the voyages, about migration to Iceland and of feuds between Icelandic families. They were written in the Old Norse language, mainly in Iceland......

....or so you would think! These days sagas are mostly about the migration of potential (of various nationalities) up and down the modern motorway network and of feuds between football factions (managers, board and owners) and between clubs and agents. The are written in contract law with ever creative new clauses to serve the Actor in a Leading Role and the Actor in a Supporting Role.

GPG Towers is absolutely certain that Hull, Burnley and Bristol City have put in bids for Gray but only Bristol City have been the Bees valuation. Hull falling about 500k short and Burnley....well much, much further behind. GPG Towers further understands that Gray (or rather his Actor in a Supporting Role) does not view Ashton Gate as a career stepping-stone and is insisting on various escape clauses should Bristol City end up being a League One club again, or if a bigger club comes in for Gray. This and the fact that wages offered by BCFC are not not quite commensurate with a £9m transfer have led to a period of uncertainty for Gray and the club.

What is more that probable is that Hull and Burnley have indicated that they are willing to offer higher wages to gray than Bristol City but are unwilling to meet Brentford's valuation on a transfer fee.

Hull's crazily fractioned club means that no-one is able to agree a fee without the owner lopping-off 500,000 at the last moment. Therefore a club with whom it is very difficult to do business with, with any certainty.

What happens now? We are in a state of uncertainty re Gray's status. The question is: how can Brentford force closure on the current situation so that Gray can play on Saturday.....again Burnley.

Interesting piece from our forum for the Bristol City fans.

Unbelievable.

I heard Gray wanted plenty of clauses like relegation release clause, price release for a bigger club coming in for him as get outs from us as he didn't see us as a big enough club in itself.

Well I won't be happy if this doesn't come off, purely because we've already shown our hand, that we're willing to spunk these ridiculous fees, so we might as well at least get a quality striker for it.

Anyway, who do you reckon we'll be in for next? Charlie Austin? Jordan Rhodes? Jermain Defoe maybe?

Think we'll end interest in a striker if we can't get Gray.

May as well bid for Afobe while we're at it :mell:

We've been aiming out of our reach in Gayle, Gray etc I'd be looking at mid championship strikers who may want a change of location, Joe Mason, Nahki Wells etc. I'm confident Agard will net 10+ this seson, looked good when he came on tonight.

Nakhi Wells would probably get you 10-15 goals a season and wouldn't cost you the earth either.

£2.5m bid for Dale Stephens following three rejected bids for Jacob Butterfield.

I think we're getting desperate.

I like Stephens, apart from the fact he's always injured, but that seems steep given his current standing. I think it's just a rush to get someone half decent in before the window shuts.

I can see at least two relatively big money signings coming in. I don't think our slow attacking start and four injured central midfielders have done much to ease tension.

I was thinking we were desperate but BCFC, what games are your lot playing. You are going to get taken to the cleaners for even looking at anyone.

Think we highlighted a few players, Gayle/Gray who we are happy to splash on, after that if we don't get them I think we'll only taget the loan market even if we don't get them. We wanted to try and make a statement to entice others to join us.
