Adios Jota, off to Eibar on an 18 month loan for family reasons. Can't help but think our owner is the best out there, compassionate but protecting the club's assets.

One of my favourite ever Brentford players, such a shame to see him go. Think that takes him up to the end of his contract with us, so we'll never see him play again. Massive blow, easily could have sold him for £6-7m in the summer, doubt we've got much for him now.

Much as I love that we've helped him out when in need, I'm devastated that we've just lost our best player by an absolute mile for nothing. (You only had to look at his 2 brief cameos in December to see the impact a clearly unfit Jota could have).

Our team from last season has just been ripped apart since the summer. Dread to think how long it will take to build it up again.

Goodbye King Jota, thanks for all the last minute memories.

Edit: just seen that we've extended his contract by a year as well, so he'll either be back in 2017 or we'll get a fee. Fair play to the club, help the guy out and as Tosh said protect our assets.

There's a non-story in the Scottish Daily Record this morning. We're signing Hull City's Andy Robertson apparently for 7 million, netting Dundee United a hugh windfall of cash.

I could never see Hull selling one of their best players to a promotion rival in a million years.

Club have money.
Club have injury problems at left back.
Sat in an office in Scotland looking for relevant stories to get readers.
Tada.

Not really. It's all about value for money. Dwight Gayle is a proven striker, who has scored at the top level who you would go out of your way to offer more to, if you could. Clough has played 20 games, and is not proven. A prospect, that is all.

There would have been a limit for each, and you couldn't meet a standard Championship wage.

^^This

Apparently the issue with the Mark Davies transfer is that we aren't willing to pay him what he wants, not that we can't afford to as Davies is on a reported 20K at Bolton and we're already giving Hooper 32K, so i'd be amazed if we couldn't afford to match his wages, just that we didn't deem he was worth what he wanted

Wouldn't agree that he's our best player by a mile, as I still think Alan Judge is the best player in the division :) But it is galling that things seem to have been turned on their head. We had a fair bit of interest from a few Premier League clubs in the summer and the club were really concerned about bids coming in. Then he gets out injured for 5 months and then all of a sudden he's back off to Spain and his value will likely decrease as a result... only about 5 teams in Spain have any money and 2 of them aren't allowed to buy players for a while.

I think this season has been an eye-opener for Benham in terms of "what can go wrong, will go wrong". Certain things have seemingly been our fault, but we've also been hit with weird and unforeseen issues coming out of nowhere. I guess these kind of things make football interesting, and with our form having picked up dramatically following the first 10 games and we're seemingly safe from relegation, I'm just going to try to enjoy what's left of this season and am very excited by FFP relaxing next year!

Liam Grimshaw expected to be announced today. Taken longer as he needed International experience as his loan was cancelled from Scotland.

At the moment, I'd agree with you on Judge, my favourite player. Jota had something else though, don't think we'll see someone as good as him in a Bee's shirt for a long time.

Apparently Judge wants a new contract, happy where he is and remembers how badly everything went when he went to Blackburn. That would be fantastic news if we could get it done - best news we will have had in a long time. The best thing we could do this window is get Judge, Tarky, Dean, Button and Diagouraga down to new contracts.

Apparently AEK Athens have made a loan offer for Orlando Sa. This might be why we're suddenly in for Kermorgant, seem like similar types of players.

Don't know whats happened with Sa. Started the season great, then got a needless sending off against Derby and has not been the same since. Dropped at the latter part of Clarke's reign and McDermott just keeps him on the bench, preferring Vydra or Robson-Kanu. We even had a completely unproven player we signed from Billericay come off the bench instead of Sa a few games back.

Wolves are in talks to sign Ajax's captain and Danish international defender Nicolai Boilesen

Jesus, when did we start to show some ambition...

Wow! Would be a good signing, has been linked with Newcastle plenty of times.

Yeah, hope it's true mate but can't see him wanting to go to the Championship. Apparently he was the club captain last season but put in a transfer request to move to the prem. Since it fell through for him in the summer he fell out with Frank de Boer and has been dropped ever since. He's out of contract in the summer so I think a few clubs will be ahead of us in the pecking order though.

The Sun are reporting that Grayson has been given the green light to big £500,000 for Tom Bradshaw. Not sure how much I trust them but the rumour around us bidding for him went around last week.

Bradshaw would cost a lot more than 500k, I think they would only listen to bids over 1m.

Someone called Eder linked with from Swansea now. 14 apps and 0 goals, seems like the sort of striker we like.

Good record at Braga though, especially for a big man. Would have him here in a second.

Rumours that Green and Phillips are on their way to Bournemouth. If we got 5-8 million for Phillips I would be very happy. They can take Green as well.

Hope Brentford don't feel forced to sell Tarkowski on the cheap now.

We were apparently due to bring in 2 players today who have backed out after finding out Cotterill had been sacked.

You couldn't make it up :ffs:
