Our team last season was a lot better than the one we had in 13/14 to be fair, well, after January anyway when we had Beckford and Johnson to give us the extra edge.

Wolves and Brentford from the other season would have walked last year's league though.

We still got 4 points off you that year and it was one of our worst seasons, probably would have been 6 if Galloway hadn't been sent off in the game at your gaff. And we still finished second which while potentially not as impressive as your play off win, we are still going to be ingrained in history as getting promoted in a higher position

Yeah in a shite divison like i said.

Also we would have wrapped up 2nd spot pretty easily last season if we didn't lose Garner and Beckford for so long.

We had a diabolical January, we were playing Kevin Davies as a lone striker....

We would have got it a lot quicker if we had Afobe all season, and Alli and Martin didn't get injured...

If you had Johnson and Beckford all year, you'd have it walked last season.

To be fair the same could be said for us if we hadn't have lost Alli for a month, and we arguably would have won the league if we had kept Afobe
The best teams came up though, and unfortunately for us we are only just looking like a team that could challenge ourselves from last year, going into a tougher league with a worse team you got promoted with was always going to be a tough ask

As good as Alli is, I can't imagine losing a central midfielder for 5 or 6 games was as significant as losing both your strikers for two months.

I'll give you Afobe but you were never going to keep him past Christmas in reality.

I agree but it's all a bit pointless tbf, there's a million and one ways which can affect a season, so we're debating nothing really.

We're lucky this year that we've coped with losing Beckford, Humphrey and May all season.

Would MK Dons fans rather the team with Alli and Afobe to the one you have now? I'm guessing you would.

Our League 1 team had Leigh Griffiths, Richard Stearman, Wayne Hennessey, Michael Jacobs, Kevin Doyle, Bakary Sako, Scott Golbourne etc. I would have that team every day of the week over the one we have now.

If we had the team we finished the season with, but swap Cole for Afobe we wouldn't be in any form of danger this season I'm certain of it

Says it all that Cardiff fans are happy to see him go. What fun it is to support a club with 0 ambition.
To be honest, it's down to what has been perceived as a lack of effort on his part mainly. The boy does have talent but £3.5 millions worth? Not a chance in hell
Cardiff sell all their strikers and still don't attempt to recall that piece of shit Eoin Doyle.
We're doing our bit for the Championship community by keeping him with you lot, just look at us offloading Revell as well for further proof.

The Leyton Orient who got relegated with the same squad last season? Lol.

Rotherham and Brentford were lucky that bigger clubs like Bristol City and Sheff Utd were so poor.

Oh and we were the best team before Christmas last season, and we were the best team after. No if buts or maybes, we dominated from start to finish and did the double to prove it.

Is there any small glimmer of hope that you can give me that he is even worth a fraction of that fee? I know i'm scraping the barrel but that is a truly awful signing, especially for 3m or so.

I genuinely think Kenny Jackett still thinks he's managing a club like Millwall sometimes. Terrible signing.
It has only taken him 3 minutes to score his first goal... the next Steve Bull :animatedf:

I think we showed last year that our squad was pretty awesome, and given than we've got £25m or so in fees since we came up also backs that up a lot. We also finished 3rd the season before so to say we were lucky is incredibly harsh.

Reyt lucky, still baffles me why you wanted to sign Agard with us being that lucky.

Same team? well Odubajo weren't in it for a start.

Delusions of grandeur from Mkat and the Yokels what a suprise.

What absolute nonsense that is.

Wolves' squad was immense as was Brentford's and ours by league one standards. Orient had Odubajo, Preston had Garner on top form and Peterbrough had Assambalonga. Last season you didn't have anything or anyone on a par with those squads and individuals in them.

Proven by how poor and lucky you and Mkat have been.

Freeman was as good in L1 as any of those names you mentioned. We've only been exposed in this league because we haven't strengthened our squad.

That good he's still rotting in Bristol.

There's no way any of your fans or Mkat's would agree but its eviidents others can see my point.

13/14 was easily the strongest league 1 has been for years, Wolves had 1 of the best squads outside the premier league, Brentford had a decent side which they proved the following year finishing in the playoffs in the championship, and then it was a lottery of us, Preston, Peterborough and Leyton Orient who were all capable of winning the playoffs and luckily it was us, you could add Sheff Utd to that list aswel who probably would have had a better league season if they didnt get far in both cup competitions. Last seasons league 1 wasn't a poor standard but it wasn't a patch on the season before. This seasons league 1 however is the worst ive ever seen, i think any team in the championship including us and Bolton would walk this seasons league 1 with the current squads, Burton being the top says it all.

What does Mkat even mean? It's not funny or even offensive, I don't get it.

League One was stronger when you went up, can't dispute that. You did excellently to go up.

I really don't think your squad was as immense as you make out mind. Most of that side are now playing at a lower level and don't forget Revell was leading your line that season. I'd put your success more down to excellent management and impressive loan signings.

I think most teams that do well and overachieve in L1 do so because the team gels and forms something better than its parts. Most of the players from our L1 teams that finished 3rd and 2nd who have moved on haven't done very well:

Trotta - stuck in the lower leagues in Italy
Forshaw - clearly still has talent, but has spent all of the time since leaving on Wigan and Boro's bench
Craig - back in L1 for Millwall
Forrester - playing for Rangers now, wasn't doing very well in L1 when back there with Donny either
Moore - not even sure who he is playing GK for now

Not particularly surprising, a lot of the time in L1 if a player does well it's mainly because the tactics suit him. If he's good enough to be great in any team he'll have been snapped up by a PL / Top of the Championship side already.

Rotherham had a great team. Maybe not so many great individuals, though they did have a few cracking players, Agard was brilliant that season, Tavernier was a massive driving force behind their 2nd half of season form, Pringle had a couple of great games against us (where even is he these days? Fulham?), think they had Smallwood back then as well? No doubt there was some excellent management in there, but I'd back the squad they had that year against the squads that are doing well in L1 now.

Apologies for the slightly rambling post!
