Adrian Popa confirmed this morning. Can never have enough wingers, hopefully he will prove useful.

Jordon Mutch looks like he will be joining on loan (with likely option to buy). Slightly strange one given the form/strength in depth of our midfielders but if he provides something different I cannot complain.

And that then leaves us with just over 24 hours to sign a striker. Given that we have now shown willingness to bring in our first loanee of the season, i'm more hopeful that we'll get something done.

Glenn Murray to Brighton being made permanent for 3m.
Good deal all round. Brighton is clearly where he feels happiest. And we make back what we spent on him, which considering he's aged another 18 months towards the end of his career in that time, is decent business
Seems a lot for a 33-year-old but I imagine a decent chunk of that fee will be dependant on promotion. Loose change compared with the financial reward of going up I guess.

Ben Marshall is 50/50 now. Blackburn wont budge from 2m, and Lambert says 2m for a guy who's contract runs out on the 1st July is ridiculous.

I would pay it and sell Iorfa tbh.

Apparently we've rejected the following bids this transfer window.

3.5 mil for Robinson
2.5 mil for Hugill
1 mil for Cunningham

National media saying we've rejected two bids worth up to 6m for Yanic, again both from Derby and Norwich (no doubt full of add ons and not 6m up front). ITK close to the club though says we've agreed a deal with Derby and he wants to go. All going down in the next 24 hours. Personally I think he'll go, timing is absolutely awful and it'll probably consign us to relegation unless we have some miracle replacement waiting in the wings, but I can't see us turning down 6m with a sell on clause. Good luck to him if he goes, pace and strength to burn, will play in the Premier League if he sorts his consistency and final delivery out.

Good news if true, hopefully we can keep this team together for at least 1 more full season after this and who knows where we could be.

I refuse to believe we'd be willing to pay £6m for him....

However, Wigan have released a statement tonight saying that Wildschut has handed in a transfer request.

He'll probably end up at Villa.

Bloody hell, I leave the house for 30 mins and all hell breaks loose. Proper knobhead move from him to try and push for a transfer. David Sharpe's proven to be pretty ruthless since he's been chairman, so I'm sure he'll have no problem letting Yanic rot until the summer if we don't get the price we want. It's an important situation though, this cash is virtually our parachute payment for next summer so we can't afford to get walked over.

I don't know too much about Wildschut, but from what I have seen, he's got what we lack.

Tom Ince has an end product, he's technically fantastic and there's very few more composed players when he gets into 'them' positions. What he does lack, however, is power. He doesn't drive at defenders, he doesn't create space for other players. I think Wildschut can/will do that. I also believe Wildschut is probably more of a creative influence than anything else. We desperately need that in the final third.

Whatever the fee, whatever the terms, I believe he will ultimately improve us. I don't mind seeing Wigan get well compensated in return. Good club.

Hoping for a busy day at NYS tommorow.

Sounds like we're close to signing a Jordan Willis from Coventry. Their captain at 22 so must have summat about him. With him and Purrington the defence suddenly looks youthful and promising.

Hoping for a winger and a striker too as well as Ryan Taylor (who is a toss signing).

Got a whatsapp earlier saying Eoin Doyle which I hope was a fucking wind up cos I'd give up on life if we signed him.

Kelvin Wilson should finally move to Notts County tommorow too.

That's his game, runs at defenders for fun, bags of pace but more importantly strength so you can't muscle him off the ball, that's why he's so effective and just goes past them with ease. If you're looking for a direct winger or someone who can play on the break he's your man. People think he's expensive because they either don't know him, or see his stats and think they're poor for a striker. Yanic's not a striker, he's a left winger who can play on the right or up top if needed. Easily the best winger we've had since Moses/McManaman.

Villa do like overpaying for Championship strikers on deadline day...

Now there's a few teams involved, we're confident of getting the £15m we wanted. Supposedly we'll use the money on Canos, a lower league striker and a lower league DM.

Shame to lose Hogan, especially as we have no other strikers... but we'll survive even if it's too late to sign anyone else.

Think that's a great move for Joao, the potential is there but his confidence is shot and he's not getting the game time after missing the first third of the season through injury. Hope he goes to Blackburn, bangs in the goals and comes back to us the player we saw in late 2015.

Sounds like Lloyd Isgrove will be the first incoming today. Replacing a winger that doesn't score goals with another winger that doesn't score goals....

*sigh*

Pedraza all but done. Fletcher likely on loan if West Ham get a striker in. One more after those and I'd be pretty happy.

Joao's move to Blackburn could go either way, there is a good player in there somewhere but we have too many options to give him the time to play himself into form, which we haven't seen since the Arsenal game last season. If Blackburn can give him time on the pitch i've no doubt he can score goals.

Finally landed a striker to provide some cover and competition for Baldock - Chuba Akpom on loan from Arsenal. Doesn't score many but a bit of pace to run the channels and stretch defences whilst complementing Murray or Hemed is all we need.
