No Johnny Russell in the squad tonight, but I'd suggest he was going to head somewhere had we got Wildschut. The 7m Norwich have bid was too much for us.

We've signed Josh Laurent from Hartlepool for 500k. Still one more to come in and probably someone else to leave with Wildschut. Honestly never seen a deadline day like it at Latics. Absolutely mental, thanks a lot Yanic!

Interesting, never looked like making the breakthrough here, surprised he's got he move!

Dominic Samuel signed on loan from Reading. Know nothing about him but my expectations are low.
He's alright, nothing fantastic currently. Needs a regular run of games.

Would have preferred him to go out to a top League One club, but then he can't keep doing that every season.

Signing Laurent is a funny one, 500k as well barmy, definitely a one for the future, struggled at times in league 2 but has great potential wish him the best!

I'm as baffled as you, 500k was quoted by the mirror. We've got loads of central midfielders already. Lots of fans not happy about it, can't afford to be throwing money like that away on just potential.

Grabban joins Reading on loan. Exactly the type of player I would have wanted to replace Hogan. Oh well!

Reece Oxford, Jordon Mutch and Lewis Grabban all in today. Strengthening the spine of the team all in one go. With the 3 points picked up at Birmingham, what a day.

We've at least got an embarrassment of riches out wide for a change. And some serious speed there with Sacko, Barrow and Pedraza.

The team is strong but we're only 1 injury away from a bit of a nightmare which I'm uneasy about. Both at CB and up top.

Not hugely exciting but better than nothing. At least he can cross a ball

Terrible window from Fulham. Expected signings tonight. Got a striker on loan which leaves us with two strikers. Both on loan and one of them (Martin) doesn't even want to be here. I despair just when we start to play the best football since we went down

Newcastle's window has been a bit disappointing. Could have done with a capable centre midfielder or two. At least Diame and Shelvey are back.

More worrying than disappointing tbh, especially given a recent interview with Benitez regarding transfer policy. Seems like he doesn't have nearly as much control as we were initially lead to believe and Ashley has reverted to allowing his puppets to give the manager a list of players to choose from, the vast majority of which he apparently has no interest in.

Well Venky's asset stripping is (pretty much) complete. Can they fuck off now?

Yeah, lump on they still go down with Rotherham and Bristol IMO, marginally keeping us up, probably on the final day.
would not be so confident if I was you tractorboys. keep Mick and you will finish below Wigan and Bristol city and go down, they both added to there squads massively.

In.
Alex Mowatt (Leeds) - undisclosed
Ryan Hedges (Swansea) - undisclosed
Gethin Jones (Everton) - loan
Matty James (Leicester) - loan
Callum Elder (Leicester) - loan

Out.
Sam Winnall (Sheff Wed) - undisclosed
James Bree (Aston Villa) - undisclosed
Conor Hourihane (Aston Villa) - undisclosed
Stefan Payne (Shrewsbury) - loan

Lost a promising full back but brought in two from Premier League clubs on loan. Lost our top scorer but still have two strikers perfectly capable of emulating what he's done so far this season. The biggest loss is obviously Hourihane but quite happy to have brought in Mowatt and James as replacements.

All in all this hasn't been as bad as it could have been had all the rumours flying about for the past month been true. Thank fuck it's over though, and once again let me reiterate how much I hate January when clubs who don't do what they should in the summer try and buy their way out of their respective holes. Fuck em all.

Our window is a bit of a mix:

IN:
Jota (loan finished)
Florian Jozefzoon (nominal fee)
Sergi Canos (£1.5m rising to £2.5m)

OUT:
Sullay Kaikai (loan finished)
Callum Elder (loan finished)
Scott Hogan (£9m rising to £12m)

Delighted to get Canos back in, Jozefzoon looked quite good for an almost free buy in his one game, and certainly has pedigree, and having Jota back in the side is amazing. We also got a pretty good fee for Hogan, would have liked a bit more given the current market, but with only 18 months left on his contract it's probably a fair price.

Only issue is that we are now incredibly weak up front. If Vibe has a good run to the end of the season that shouldn't matter, but if he plays like he has done before today, or gets injured, we're in real trouble.

There's good times ahead for us though, a significant war chest is available in the summer, we have Rico Henry and Judge back from injury soon. Just need to get Jota tied down to a new deal, and quick.
