We are scouting Jota.

Well, Diogo Jota, a winger from Atletico Madrid. Played 27 games on loan at Porto last season for our man Nuno.
Surely if he played 27 times for your manager last season you wouldn't need to scout him?

Yeah, you would have thought so. I just quoted the words from the website which was Portuguese, guessing it's a translation error.

The money Fosun spent at Wolves is little more than pocket change to them. The Fosun empire earns 24.7m a day, so for the total net spend of the club is made back in 2 days.

Don't think there is any evidence that Fosun are money laundering, or that we will fail FFP. Realistically Costa and Neves will be sold this time next year when we don't gain promotion, and I'd guess both would be for a profit on what we paid for them.

Fulham, Middlesborough and Birmingham want Jordan Obita. Probably our best player last season, would be a big loss.

Linked with a £4m bid for Tomer Hemed.

Would happily take him but that link hasn't come from anywhere credible than The Sun.

Diogo Jota very close to joining on a season long loan from Atl Madrid. 9 goals and 7 assists (35 apps) in all competitions for Porto last season from the wing.

Sorry, I know I have said this a lot recently, but what an absolute fucking signing that is. Never have I seen such ambition being shown to bring this club back to where it belongs.

We've sold Idriss Saadi to Strasbourg. Would say we'd miss him but he's never played for us...
He has also scored more goals than any of our other strikers during his time at the club, so there's that.

The ambition might be there, but these are exactly the wrong kinds of signings to take you down into League One...

I wouldn't describe it as ambition either. Just a rich man's play thing at this moment in time.

Eh? How does that work? They're buying clubs with Renminbi?? (I'm not disagreeing with the bit about exchange controls, just that to buy English football teams you don't do it with RMB!)

The bit about money-laundering is fairly defamatory though.

Chinese companies and individuals coming to the world stage is no different really than Russian or Middle Eastern. I think they have an overly simplistic view of football, and I suspect they are sold the argument that "money always buys success". We all know it doesn't. Look at a whole load of clubs languishing in the Championship and League 1 (and lower) where foreign owners (of all nationalities) have come seriously unstuck.

Is Wolves next? Maybe. You yourself or another Weds fan have, today (IIRC), suggested that there are ways to offset spending (e.g. own the shirt sponsor...). FFP is over three years now, so I think it is too early to say that any club is ignoring the provisions.

I admit that I am worried by the FFP consequences, but it's unfair to say that Wolves are ignoring it.

Following on from the above, are you not a bit worried as well?

I agree I'm loving the top signings, but I am also not seeing enough being said about financial stability, the importance of proper financial management, etc. Maybe it's just me but I'm nervous. I don't want to be. I want to just be excited.

On the other hand, a possible line-up of Jota, Negredo and Nelson Oliveira up front is attractive and - with copious alcohol - could lessen the nervousness.

We have different definitions of ambition it seems. I want to see my club playing in the top division, and competing in European competitions (eventually). Fosun seem to share this view. To me, that is ambition.

Yeah, I am cautious/worried. It does seem too good to be true. Champions League quality players coming to Wolves seems worlds away from what we are used to down the years. I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts, opportunities like this don't come around very often, probably not again in our lifetime. The euphoria of it all definately outweighs the worry though, give me this over a midtable season under the Morgan regime any day.

It can't be that hard to get money out of China because there are Chinese financed buildings being built all over the country, including that complex near Bramall lane.

Personally as a Wolves fan in their mid 30s its hard not to imagine this ending in tears and poorly written banners.

Lewis Grabban hasn't been given a squad number for the coming season and is likely to rock up somewhere here soon. Sunderland mentioned.

Middlesbrough close to signing Randolph according to the BBC. Good signing, always thought he was a good keeper at this level, and decent in the Premier League too.

Good, that'll stop them putting in stupid offers for the best Irish keeper in Westwood.
