Strange deal for us with Jacob Butterfield coming in on loan and Sam Winnall going the other way also on loan. We have too many strikers and Winnall wasn't getting the playing time he deserved so it's a good move for him and Derby as I think he'll score goals for them. We needed a new midfielder but more of a beastly type box to box especially while Kieran Lee is out. I know Butterfield has the odd screamer in him but what are his main qualities?

Clayton Donaldson joins Sheff Utd at the death, quite surprised at that I must say.

Envious that we have genuine quality players like Jota while you can only attract dross like Mark Duffy. How many times have Sheffield Utd finished above Birmingham in the last 20 years? You don't even have to include the last six you have just spent in League 1.

Signs Clayton lol

Keiftenbeld also joins Derby at the death, not upset to see the back of him, ultra frustrating, can be great but far too often can be total dogshit.

Steele confirmed
Same with the academy kid from Derry, both done within minutes of each other.

Shame we didn't manage a CM but not a bad window.

Will the last person out of Brentford please turn the lights out!!!!

FFS
Down to 17 fit first team players now.

I understand selling players who are in the last year of their deal, we need to recoup the money. Totally get that. But we spend every season 2-3 players short. We then buy what we need at the start of the summer, the squad looks good with depth across most positions, then we sell a few players and go back to square one...

We're in a better position than we have been in the past, but doesn't stop days like this hurting.

We finally signed someone. Loan deal confirmed for Alfred N'Diaye of Villareal to the end of the season. Considering we were deserpate for a striker and then get another midfielder it is quite disappointing.

You lost our 1st bet you will lose our 2nd. Birmingham city also won't finish top 6 , the twitcher will lose the plot and they will fail miserably.

Mowatt out, Gardner in seems a strange one.

Happy that McBurnie is here though. Need a big gangly bastard up front.

Why're you bringing me into it? I only explained the situation to you.

I probably won't lose the 2nd it depends how long we persist with LJ. Our squad looks pretty decent currently, it's just our manager that's the problem and I'm praying he's learnt from last season's mistakes.

I had Brum down to finish top six but I'm not so sure now. Thought they'd have done their business earlier, they'll take a while to get going with the amount of players they've brought in I reckon.

Butterfield is quality but you have to play him in the right position. Get him in the space between the oppo's defence/midfield and he'll be lethal. We tried to play him in a much more reserved role over the past few years and unsurprisingly he's not been any good. Scored 8 or 9 in his first year here, potential to be a quality mid. He needed a change of scenery, definitely not a Rowett type of player. Hopefully he does well.

Winall is a strange one, unless I've missed where one of Nugent, Martin or Vydra have left it just adds more competition to an already competitive position. He's scored goals at this level so fingers crossed.

Cardiff fans should'tbe too disappointed with Bryson, if Neil can get him firing them you're onto a winner. Scored 15+ from midfield under Schteve.... if you can get that form out of him again fair play. Class player for us over the years of wish him all the best.

Unsure of Kieftenbeld (sp), scored a screamer against us a few years ago but thats all I know. Kinda expect these sort of players from GR. Will see how it goes.

And will no doubt celebrate each of his goals as if it were a great moment in life.

Oh it so funny

Looking through the leagues transfers and thinking clubs are spending money they can't afford, only a few are actually down by a large amount! Didn't realise there'd been such large departures in the league!
How will FFP stand if Bristol City, Birmingham and Wolves fail to go up? Surely they'll have to sell up over the next couple of years

That seems a bit naive when you take into account wages, contracts, very real threat of value depreciation and the desperation of any situation in which you're forced to flog those players. Having saleable assets certainly didn't save Portsmouth or Leeds from the doldrums.

It's not naive, we haven't spent anywhere near the levels or what some people think. The players we've signed permanently are all 26 or under, Neves is 20, we've made about £5-£7 million in sales and sent numerous others out on loan. I am not saying we are the peaks of a well run club, but even with our spending we aren't what people think.

Do yourself a favour and read my post above where I have explained FFP. Our net spend over the summer is £7.1m. For a club whos owners earn £24m a day it's hardly going bankrupt them either. I don't know if some people are gullible or just plain stupid.

Also how the hell do you come to the conclusion that Bristol City are going to fail FFP if they don't go up?

It looks dramatic when you see the story "Birmingham sign 13 new players", when you look at the figures we've actually only spent a net of £12m, while not insignificant, it's pennies compared to some clubs in the league. I can't see us plunging into financial ruin if we don't go up (I'm not expecting us to threaten promotion).

Us? Over the last two seasons we've spent about £30m and made £25m of that back.

This year we've only really received money for Tomlin (£2.5m) but we have plenty of sellable assets and had plenty of big offers for players but we're not in a position where we need to sell our best players.

Last year we got £15m for Kodjia, £5m from a Bolasie sell on etc etc, and invested into players.

I know that clubs such as Villa, Derby and Wednesday are much closer to the FFP red line than we are.

Can your net spend really only be £12m?? You've already given £11m to us for only 3 of those players, and with add ons it could reach £14m.
