It's a difficult one. I personally think Mendes could have an underhand deal with Fosun making more of an investment in Mendes's Gestifute agency in exchange for first dibs on his players (An offshore Fosun company have already invested in Mendes' Gestifute, it is how the partnership began). Purely a theory though and one I hope isn't true. All politics...

The Football League have already accepted that there is no conflict of interest between Fosun and Mendes however, and that it is purely a close working relationship.
The Football League thought Carson Yeung and Massimo Cellino are fit and proper, not to mention the new bloke at Forest.

It makes me laugh: the amount of people crying blue murder about Wolves bidding £30m+ for a player, most of them screaming about financial fair play.

1) financial fair play, in all respects, is ridiculous. I don't understand how any governing body can tell anyone how they can spend their money. I understand that it's in place to protect teams, but I'd rather see a rule come into place that protects team in light of sale, i.e. if you want to sell a club then you need to make sure they're financial viable and/or the buyer coming into the club puts a down payment on the club still being financially secure. it makes much more sense. I don't get why club's owners have to skirt around things to be able to put money into a club they want to be successful if it's readily there, i.e. not a loan taken out against the club.

2) It's one of the things I see United fans post regarding Chelsea and City. The main point being 'where were you before the oil money was being spent'. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out that in order for a club to be successful they need to be comparatively spending more money, albeit generally speaking. The reason Derby County are better than the Dog & Duck down the road is because one has full time professional footballers contracted to the club, the other has star striker, Danny Smith - father of two, proud NFFC fan & electrician for local sparks 'Smith & Sons Ltd'. I know it's a big jump, but you get the point. Derby aren't, realistically, going to sign a player to match De Bruyne on 15k a week & £4m. Plus, even if we did, he isn't going to stay at the club without the incentives of more money & the chance to win things.

All in all, fair play to Wolves - I hope they have a proper crack at it.

So far, we've spent less than a number of other Championship clubs. We've spent less than Newcastle did last season, we've spent less than half what Middlesboro spent this season. To date, we've spent a bit more than the likes of Fulham, Leeds, Brum and Hull. Have a look at the table below.

As has been said many, many times, it's not about the money; it's about the money on the right players. Whose fans should be more alarmed...Wolves fans looking at the £19.8 million spent, Brum fans at the £15.9 million or Sheff Wed fans after £13.2 million.

We brought in a number of players on frees, several for just a few million each and Jota and Bonatini on loans. Imagine how fucking happy you would be if Jordan "Back of the Net" Rhodes was only on loan and you could send him back now.

It's also worth remembering that Wolves are one of the few Championship clubs that (at least until the most recent accounts) were profitable, virtually debt-free and with a low wages-to-income ratio. While this has undoubtedly changed massively this last financial year, it comes on the back of a vision that would appear (12 points clear at Christmas) to be fairly astute. Spending £34m on a player at this stage does, perhaps, seem a little out of place but the spending in the last 12 months has been inspired.

So alarmed? Actually some of us were alarmed pre-season (me included) and we said as much. But the relentless positive performances, the knowledge that we have brought in good players on frees, loans and small transfer fees as well as the big bucks transfers, and continued investment in the academy set-up have alleviated that alarm. We've also got some fairly decent players out on loan, including Iorfa and Jordan Graham.
To say you hope it goes tits up is childish and actually quite unpleasant. I would never want another club to go tits up. But thanks for letting us know we are just a "20-25k club" as if that is intended to be perhaps some kind of put-down. It's the same size as two-thirds of the clubs in the PL, bigger than some in the top leagues in Germany, France and Italy. Only in this forum, in one of these threads, is the penis-size obsession with attendance of any interest.

So here's an idea....worry about your own club's fortunes. Remind us again...who the fuck did you spunk £13.2 million on? You might want to see if you can take them back to get a refund if it's within the 30 days.

Middlesbrough: £50.1m
Wolves: £19.8m
Fulham: £16.6m
Leeds: £16.0m
Birmingham City: £15.9m
Hull: £14.2m
Sheffield Wednesday: £13.2m
Reading: £13.1m
Bristol City: £11.1m
Derby: £10.0m
Norwich: £9.8m
Brentford: £5.5m
Cardiff: £4.6m
Nottingham Forest: £3.3m
Aston Villa: £2.5m
Sheffield United: £2.0m
Ipswich: £2.0m
Sunderland: £1.3m
Preston: £1.0m
Barnsley: £0.6m
Burton: £0.5m
QPR: £0
Millwall: £0
Bolton: £0.23 and a can of Fanta
Suspect if you looked at Net Spend instead of just transfer outgoings, you would be a fair few places further down that list.

I suspect you are forking a lot out in wages, but a lot of your deals are loans and one year deals, so there’s no long term danger there. Personally think you guys are being incredibly well run at the moment, and all this £30m striker nonsense is just fake gossip in the papers.

Agree regarding Andre Silva, we wont be signing him, we are just linked with any and every Mendes player purely because of Mendes. £34m is an eyewatering amout to spend at this level, or frankly any level, We wouldn't risk the clubs future on such a deal.

Edit the difference is we are partly paying for it by our prices, you lot are just going deeper in hock to Fosun, luckily you'll be OK thanks to PL monies coming due.

Doesn't me we have to like it. We moaned like fuck at QPR doing it.

I agree on the "we moaned like fuck when QPR did it". I was one of the louder moaners. However....see post above... the good financial management over a long period really helps Wolves. If I am alarmed at all, it is more over whether we continue that good management than over a big signing.

Agreed. The wages-to-income ratio was interesting. Surprisingly, the best club in the division, IIRC, was Leeds. Ipswich were good too. I can't find the actual post now.

Huddersfield have bid £11m for Alex Pritchard.

Good player but a lot of money for someone has started about 24 games in two seasons.

Would have loved to get Pritch back at some point, but he seems to be the type of player who needs a team to play a certain way in order for him to play well, and I wouldn’t have thought that team was Huddersfield.

Still, get anyone to join a PL team these days for less than £15m is impossible, so could turn out to be a very good deal

Not sure on Wilson, always looked off it at this level when I've seen, stupid saying that ahead of Friday though.

It's another option though which is what we need, I think another loan striker may come in too.

Someone at our level has bid 3.5m and 4m for Jack Marriott at Posh.
I hope it’s us, given how much cash we’ve brought in over the past year, but there’s no way we’d pay that much for a player unless a lot of it was add on based.

Lee Evans nailed on to score against us in a few weeks then...

We've not been as bad for that this season compared to last, I was tracking it on TWF but gave up. It seems worse than it is because of Clarke.

Sounds like Chris Martin will be heading out on loan, Reading in pole position with Fulham and Sunderland interested too according to Nicko.

Darren Bent will be off too, Burton one of a few clubs in for him on loan.

Gutted we're losing Pritchard. I'd have rejected that Huddersfield offer. The club told us we don't need to sell this window, and we've caved in after 10 days.

Linked with Andre Gomes from Barca. As with Andre Silva it wont happen. Literally linked with anyone and everyone around the Portuguese setup bar Ronaldo.

The Gomes link at least has the common sense to say will be done on the condition of you getting promoted, so would be for the summer window.

Villa fans - Easah Suliman.

Tell me about him, please.
A good young centre back. Hasn't got a chance in our first team yet as he's behind Terry, Chester, Elphick and Samba but is a constant in our reserves and performs well. Scored the winner in England u19s Euros final. Very good on the ball and is strong and mobile. He'll be very good for you (who I presume is an Oxford fan). Hope that helps mate!

I can't see it. Half the reason I post crap like that is the sheer ridiculousness of it all. Even with the Mendes link I still struggle to understand why players like Neves, Jota would leave to European clubs for projects like Wolves. If you were a top player at a Champions League club, would you want to drop everything to join Wolves? I bloody wouldn't
