For Football League clubs, the transfer window opens after the last day of the season. Therefore, the window has been open for quite some time for our clubs.

The Football League FFP year is from July 1st to July 1st, though, which will come into some chairman's thinking.

The Premier League transfer window opens in July, which is why I imagine most people get confused as the press seem to believe England is a one division country....

You mean it isn't?????????

Bailey Wright expected to sign a long-term deal at some point this week according to the LEP.

Hope so, 22, a full international and can only get better.

He's come on a lot in the last 2 years and was class after coming back from injury last season.

The lack of incomings has been annoying but i'm glad we're trying to get our main assets tied down.

One of those shite twitter transfer rumour accounts linked us with Grigg yesterday.

I'm so bored that I'm going to pretend I believe it.

It's got to the point where i'm eagerly anticipating the news that Kevin Davies has signed a player/coach deal.

We'd done most of our busniess by this point if I remember correctly, only 2 or 3 more came in once we started pre season training
Mainly because in that league we were one of the big fishes that held all the power financially, and could just cherry pick any players in that division that we wanted.

Different Summer this year - and Cotterill warned not to expect a repeat of last Summer, as it was going to be harder to identify the targets, and then bring them in at the right price.

Surprised Paul McShane hasn't attracted a lot more attention from Championship clubs and rumourmongers. Same for Stephen Quinn.
Almost as surprised that Hull let them go: they seem ready-made for the rigours of Championship promotion challenges. Would be happy to see either at Wolves.

Both have been heavily linked to Reading the past few weeks. Paul McShane seems almost certain, as it looks like we might be offering him captaincy/senior role to help persuade him. Quinn is linked with Reading and Cardiff but Hull are still deep in contract talks with him as they want to keep him.

Starting to get a few more rumours pop up at Reading. Apparently we've made a £750k bid for Clayton Donaldson after failing a £500k one last week. If Birmingham want the £2m they say they want then I hope we don't pay it (not that we could afford it either), I would pay £1m absolute top for him. Has to be better value elsewhere, strikers in England are ridiculously expensive now.

Mark Bunn is signing for a club 4 hours away. Could potentially be us, more likely he's going back to Blackburn as he favourited a tweet asking if he was returning.

Out of interest, would you take Grigg?
Definitely. At the minute we only have Garner, Beckford and Hugill. I think he would work well feeding off Garner's flick-ons too, similarly to Beckford.

Not gonna happen though.

Donaldson has got to be the most underrated striker in the Championship.

I can’t see him wanting to leave to a club who finished below us last season and have no serious aspirations for next season.

£500-750k for a guaranteed goalscorer is laughable.

Said on twitter to Jack Kinghe'll cut his hair when someone signs him.

Doubt he'll be here next season.

We can probably offer better wages?

Agree that the bid is a bit on the low side for the market, but it's about all that we can afford. Seems like we have a budget of about £2m to buy a new strikeforce, and £2m doesn't even get you a decent young league one striker anymore, let alone a proven Championship striker. No wonder we seem to be looking at the foreign market for forwards.

We've been 'linked' (OTIB crap probably) with Donaldson as well, can't see us paying a great deal for a 31 year old, that sort of investment would be reserved for younger players who can be around for a while. Like we got Freeman for around 700k, for a top quality league 1 player. I'd rather see us go for Grigg over Donaldson being honest 23 years old, good potential and should we slip back to league 1 an already proven player who could power us straight back.

How do I go about becoming friends with an ITK person? It seems like everyone has one nowadays.

Almost certainly bollocks but for a reported £1m, Will Grigg wouldn't particularly float my boat.

£1m is now what you have to pay for a lower end champ striker/top league 1 striker so not surprising. Afobe was rumoured to be a £2m fee (well according to wikipedia at any rate), if wikipedia has the scoring stats right then 10 in 22 for Afobe, 20 in 44 for Grigg so the same scoring rate but 1m lower for Grigg and less chance of it being a purple patch.

Supposedly Stephen Quinn is having a medical with us today. Not the position we need to strengthen, not high on the priority list anyway, but when good players turn up it's good that we're looking to sign them.

EDIT: More good news.

First signing of the Summer and it's Orlando Sa. 3 year contract, fee undisclosed but thought to be about £1m to Legia Warsaw.

The advantage of having an ITK imaginary friend is that 'it' can be a real ale drinking she who's never heard of Facebook or jewellery and who hates IKEA, shopping and shoes. She also tends to agree with all your opinions and is turned on by the unshaven, teeth unbrushed boxer shorts and vest look.

How about you get Jacques Cousteau to float it, while Grigg scores shedloads for your football team? £1m? In a heartbeat.
