You're going to be needing to change your style of play to get the best out of them both. I'll be really interested to see how Mick fits them in. Particularly as to whether Ipswich deem Fraser good enough to start regularly. Both will put a shift in for the cause.

As for Mings, having only seen him a couple times in the flesh and a couple times on TV, I was never hugely impressed with him. I admit to being sceptical of all the hype. It's certainly true that left back and centre back are areas of concern for us with not a lot of height or muscle, and Mings will help that. It's a risk though at that price. Howe has always gone for technical full backs, even when we were in L2 with no pot to piss in. So I'm thinking Howe might even see Mings as a centre back, in time. We need some beef right now though.

The fact that all our other signings this summer have been free probably suggested that a big move was in the pipework.

Mick brought in a couple of wingers last year that haven't worked out so it looks like he wants to use wingers. He's got an Arsenal youngster lined up for loan as well.

Style wise, I agree they wouldn't fit in to the style we played from the turn of the year. However, when we played 433 before New year, we could switch up the play really well. Squad depth harmed us up front, in the play offs we only had 2 fit strikers.

Imo our the dealings with Mings has actually made us stronger in the short term, and with a lot of money to play with!

Brentford, Newcastle, Chicago Bears
16 goals playing as the lone striker and none were penalties

I doubt there's anyone at Leeds better than him.
He had a great season last year. Was gutted when he left us. Actually think we might have done better with him in the team than Gray (much as I do like Gray).

Over time though, probably even this season, Gray will be the better forward. Loads of potential if he can improve his first touch and attitude.

Orlando Sa was absolutely dreadful for us. Seems to have sorted his injury problems out though which kept him out most of the time. Think he scored once for us and it was pretty good goal tbf

Apparently we're going to blow our financial load on the transfer market from July 1st onwards in order to get around FFP.

Football League financial year is from July to July, so does make sense.

As it stands, mind, we don't have much with regards to background staff!

We are according to some ready to announce two signings over the coming days.

Vincent Sasso- Right Back/Centre back from Braga, capped for France at youth level but looks like he's had his injury problems for the last couple of years, not sure we'd need another right sider especially if Loovens is signing a new deal but he has pedigree and can't see him costing much.

Mervan Celik- Winger capped at the Swedish youth levels, looks a tricky player with end product who's been playing his trade in Turkey recently after a stint with Pescara in Serie A. Again seems to fit into the player with potential category and not someone who's going to be too pricey.

I like the way we're looking abroad for money buys, far better than getting ripped off for English players, just look at the money Tyrone Mings went for the other day it's crazy. Hopefully we'll pick up some of the best experienced Championship players in the bosman market like with Westwood last season. It does show that we're certainly using a different model now and this may be the reason Stuart Gray's position was unattainable, we wont be having a manager who signs the players we'll be going towards the continental approach which I'm open too.

Burnley being linked with a loan move for Liverpool teenage striker Jerome Sinclair - know nothing about him except he might be being used so the Scousers don't have to pay so much for Ings.

Is there anything from your end to suggest interest from Fulham in Tom Lees? Read somewhere that you'd tabled an offer that was rejected?

Seen us linked with Paul Robinson on a free, following his release from Blackburn & a guy called Nick Bakker from Groningen, 22yr old left back.

I'll take any rumours at the moment.

I hoped that was our Paul Robinson – the slower, shorter, greyer one.

Taking Nicky Maynard and Paul Taylor on trial. This is what it's come to.

To be honest Maynard is only 28. And our list of sick notes isn't in double figures ATM so he might as well sign.

Dunno anything about Taylor but his goal scoring record looks shite.

Hey look, we're swapping roles now. You can fight it out in the bottom half of the table signing freebies and we'll be near the top only to mess it up again, all while spending a lot of money ;)

Taylor was injured for basically the whole time he was at Ipswich. Even if he was good at Peterborough, I doubt he is now.

Don't think you can count stuff on OTIB that reliable.. Would be nice just to hear something though only one I've seen is that guy who moved to Hearts said we wanted him.

I certainly don't think any of the guff on there is reliable Hodge, quite amusing but definitely not reliable. Who have we been linked with on there so far?
Rickie Lambert, Matt Smith, Fran Sol, Clayton Donaldson, a couple of keepers, two Danish strikers and a couple of Scandinavian centre halves. All utter rubbish, I should think but some of the replies are quite funny.

Jens Jonsson as well, Smith was always going to be linked after his loan spell. Don't forget Joe Edwards either.

It's usually like this until 1st July to be fair. As soon as the transfer window opens and the players are back in training I think you'll see a lot more transfers.

We'd done most of our busniess by this point if I remember correctly, only 2 or 3 more came in once we started pre season training

Every year there are legions of 'bargain' foreign players brought in who languish in the reserves. We've had loads. For every Bakary Sako, there's a Frankowski, Doumbia, Maierhoffer, Okoronkwo, Silas, Jonsson and the infamous Jelle van Damme.
I think I'd take my chances on an expensive Tyrone Mings. If you screw up, you'll probably recoup much of your money. If you screw up with those others, you'll not even get the Easyjet fare back.

Interesting to note that Tyrone Mings didn't successfully make it through the Academies of either Southampton or Bristol Rovers. Barely two years ago, Ipswich picked him up from Chippenham. There's bargains to be had in this country if clubs employ the scouts and the development set-ups, IMHO.

For Football League clubs, the transfer window opens after the last day of the season. Therefore, the window has been open for quite some time for our clubs.

The Football League FFP year is from July 1st to July 1st, though, which will come into some chairman's thinking.

The Premier League transfer window opens in July, which is why I imagine most people get confused as the press seem to believe England is a one division country....
