Hughes confirmed. Posh fans all use the words solid and dependable which I like to hear when it comes to full backs.

We were linked with him last year before getting Canos back. Seems decent but I'd imagine he'd cost a reasonable amount

Will be on big wages but presumably the contribution won't be massive with him coming back from injury and being surplus at Celtic. Only a tabloid rumour anyway.

Can't see us making a loan signing like this until we get people off the books.

Ah hadn't seen the loan part - I doubt he'd be on much more than £10k a week, squad players at Celtic don't get huge wages. He'd probably still fit in your or our wage structures, would have thought he'd cost around £2m to buy outright though. Loan would be a good move for you guys.

Gil Dias checking in from Monaco on a SLL, with view to buy. A winger, apparently. Uncle Jorge is his agent

This is Mendes’ world, we just live in it

If true - cracking signing.

It gets harder every year to get out of this league with a tiny budget :(

Walton loan announced. Probably the best business we’ll do all summer.

The George Hirst saga has finally come to an end, after about a year of negotiations he's signed for Belgium second division side OH Leuven, who are conveniently owned by Leicester's owners. Wednesday have well and truely been shafted as very little compensation has to be paid and he'll end up at Leicester for nothing in 12 months time, sad to see two club legends involved in this, Hirst sr and Nigel Pearson.

Been expecting him to leave for months now but the circumstances leave a bitter taste, very little insentive to develop your own players now.

Yeah this move seems very controversial. Heard a lot of good things about Hirst, seems very strange to take a step back and join a 2nd division Belgian side. Theoretically any of the big clubs' owners could use this loophole to go and buy a club on the continent, and use the said club purely to poach young talent without paying much if any compensation and then send the player over to the other team in a year or two.

Are there any grounds for you to appeal this? Like you say it's very controversial that Leicester, a club who have been after Hirst for a while coincidently happen to own the Belgian side he's signed for.

That's the concern, Watford's owners own Grenada and Udinese don't they? I would like to think if there has been any wrong doing then we would get it looked into, but this whole saga has dragged on a long time and become bitter on both sides, with Hirst sr falling out with the club. It feels like a two fingers up to the club and the chairman, problem is we can't justify to pay the wages to a 18/19 year old prospect that they were asking for. Only those in the top flight can, I reckon he'll do a 12 month stint in Belgium, bang goals in for fun and then signed by Leicester for peanuts.

We are set to announce the season long loan of Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea. Excellent signing that and glad to be getting it done so early!

Also looking at Kane Vincent-Young from Colchester after he's confirmed he's leaving the U's despite being offered a new contract.

Yes they did but under different members of the family .

The concern with us was we loaned a lot of players we wouldn't normally buy or get which upset everyone - particularly Ian Holloway who ofcouse actually got Palace promoted against us !

There weren't so many complaints after we signed a lot of said players and came 14th the next season ..

And when we did get promotion most of the attention was on the number of managers we had plus Deeney and Ighalo.

Asked about McManaman and Wildschut on loan. Suspect it’s a matter of either/or depending on who between Sunderland/Norwich subsidies their wages more.

Something similar happened a few years back. I believe we wanted Ritchie from Bournemouth, so in turn they 'leaked' if you like that they were after Russell.

In hindsight, bit annoying that we didn't follow through

Apparently we are going to receive £159,000 at tribunal for George Hirst, well and truely shafted.

Not like Leicester don't have a history of being snidey c***.

In other news our other highly rated striker from Bulgaria has signed a two year deal.

Just goes to prove that it's not the club being unreasonable, considering how many of the other promising young lads have signed long term deals. Hope we an get a few of them out on loan this season to League One and Two clubs.
