Most alliterative names make bad players.

Jemal Johnson, Paul Parry, Jamie Jones, Steven Smith....

Fuck off Brandon Barker.
Danny Dichio, Keith Keane (as much as I love him)

This is fun. Any more?

I don't really remember much about him playing, just the chant "he gets the ball, he does fuck all, Danny Dichio"

c*** sang that song.

The correct chant was 'he's got no hair but we don't care', he struggled in his first season but he was a class targetman when he settled, Nugent thrived off him.

But anyway... Andreas Arestidou, Clarke Carlisle, Pavel Pergl, Seyfo Soley....

Are we sticking to North End players? Cos I want to use Leon Legge.

Andreas Bjelland confirmed. Very very happy with that signing. Fee seems to be around £1.7m-£2m.

2-3 more signings like that, in a CM, Winger and Striker, and I'd be very confident of repeating last season's efforts!

That is a brilliant signing for us, full Danish International and looks like a real coup.

Also means that we probably have a couple of defenders available. Bjelland and Barbet will definitely be around still as new signings. Can't imagine we'll let Odubajo, Bidwell or Tarkowski go, O'Connell and McCormack will probably stay to give us options, and I'd really like to keep Dean. Thought he was excellent towards the end of the season.

Probably means Craig is out (been linked a lot with Millwall) as well as Calvet and Yennaris.

Can't see Dean staying now tbh, he made it clear last season how he felt when he wasn't playing. He won't be hanging around if it looks like he will be third or fourth in the pecking order all season.

I agree - but think it's a big shame. Don't think he'll ever be Premiership quality, but he's a solid defender at this level, and does have a lot of room to improve.

I think Barbet / Bjelland / O'Connell will take the LCB slot, with O'Connell and Bjelland also able to play Left Back as a back up to Bidwell.

Tarky then takes the RCB slot, with Dean as back up. At the moment we don't have anyone to replace Dean if he does go, so we'd need someone else to come in. This is assuming that we keep our policy of wanting a left footer at LCB and right footer at RCB.

Was very impressed with that Jack O'Connell when he was on loan at Rochdale.

We've supposedly had a £2.5m bid for Harry Maguire rejected

He has looked an absolute donkey everytime I've seen him play. Crazy money to bid for him.

Surely none of these Brentford signings actually exist.

Bjelland is hardly a complete unkown. A full international and he was captain of FC Twente in the Eredivisie.

You lucky bastards. He's shit.
People said the same about Wilbraham when we signed him, less of a risk that being a free admittedly but still. Lots of people said the same about Flint, given his record so far with us I'm inclined to trust Cotterill.

In a back 5 pace isn't everything you need, the above was the same description for Flint, but we play to his strengths, he clears nearly every long ball in and Ayling/Williams next to him are comfortable on the ball. If this story is true I could see Ayling moving out to RWB, given that Little isn't in contact training again yet.

Need to sign a striker desperately though Agard out for 6-8 weeks. From what I've read Brentford want £1m for Grigg, pay that, sign Tavernier (Rotherham supposedly bidding around £600k) and you'd still have around £750k of that £2.5m to play with.

I'd love McGuire to come here, but £2.5m seem steep.

Maguire is a decent player, though that is a lot. I know Wigan fans thought he was very good last season.

Anyway, we've confirmed Paul McShane today, 3 signings this week, crazy!

Maguire is a donkey of a footballer but he's a solid defender, only 22 but the fees being mentioned in this thread are well over the top.

I reckon PNE are getting laughed at with some of the offers we're probably putting in.

I wouldn't expect £2.5m to be upfront, I'd expect £1m-1.5m upfront and the rest in add ons

Going for it if we are willing to spend that sort of money on a defender. Can't see it being true.

Reading sign Paul McShane. He and Quinn are very good freebies for this league.
