BRISTOL CITY 'CLOSE' TO NEW MAN

Bristol City are close to signing a new forward player on loan "who plays in England", according to CEO Mark Ashton.

The Robins are 11th in the Championship, five points off the play-off places.

I reckon it's Piazon from Chelsea.

He’s a c***

I never said he wasn't but it was a decent interview. ;)

Just read MA's quote again and it can't be Piazon as he said the player is English so gawd knows who it is.
Couldn't be solanke could it? Someone on otib that seems to know stuff said that we were in for him before crystal palace sniffed around... And that move fell through I think?

For what it's worth I think he's out of our league but isn't completely unrealistic

Signed for Bournemouth I think.
There are a couple of posters on OTIB talking about Bonatini as well as this mystery Englishman. We'll have to wait and see I guess although I read a mention of Ashley Barnes, a local lad. :pond:

How do wolves fans rate him?

Nothing special but gets the job done, can be prone to errors usually through losing concentration throughout the game. Him and Iorfa were highly rated a couple of years ago under previous management but neither have impressed much since. Think he'll be steady for you but not much else.

Well we are desperate. Anything will do at the moment regarding defence.

Joe Williams any good Bolton/Barnsley fans? Can’t say I’ve ever noticed him as a standout player.

He and Dominic Iorfa were highly rated two to three seasons ago, under Kenny Jackett, but their careers stalled after he left. I was surprised Jackett didn't come back for one of them but - either way - they probably stayed at Molineux for the cash.
Both players are 23 now and you feel that if they haven't made it to the top by that age, it's not likely to happen.
I suspect Hause will be used as back-up for you; he's not going to set the world alight but he'll do the job.... you'll win some, you'll lose some. He'll go with support and applause from Wolves...he's been a loyal if somewhat invisible player. He'll play a couple more seasons in the Championship and then he'll descend the acca coupon gracefully, ending up somewhere like Braintree or Grays.
Look on the bright side though: of all the clubs in the West Midlands, Walsall and Coventry are still below you.

Very good when he was here, one of the very few players in our squad that was worth a damn at this level last season. Bossed the midfield.

Sounds far more promising than anything I’ve read from any Bolton fans. According to Bolton’s end we had a £1m deal agreed last week but an injury he picked up has delayed it a bit, but still expected to go through.

We had a £1million bid turned down last January. Obviously can’t speak for his time at Bolton though.

We don’t want defenders for back up, we are desperate for defenders to come in and tighten us up. I can’t see him not starting tbf, as we are absolutely shocking at the back. Our new keeper didn’t get off to the greatest of starts on Saturday. At the minute I think it’s just a case of anything will do. You’re a smug lot these days :)

So you keep saying. You're a desperate lot these days.
Interesting when the positions of our respective clubs are reversed how the banter plays out. Go back three seasons and look at some of the threads then..... If you look through the threads of Wolves fans now, you don't really see smug..... you see a lot of excitement, and plenty of trolling you, the Baggies and Birmingham who have spent many seasons above us doing what we are doing to you now. (If you're not sure who these other clubs are, look higher up the table) :)

Should suit your style more, been poor for Blackburn according to the plastics I know/ tolerate.

We supposedly tried to get him in the summer.

Probably unfortunate to be behind Dack who’s been on fire this season. I’m not too keen on the signing, liked him at Huddersfield but his last two loans have been pretty uninspiring.

Well, our new manager isn't hanging around culling the squad.

Vito Mannone, Marc McNulty, David Meyler and Paul McShane have all been sent to train with the reserves. Dave Edwards has been sold to Shrewsbury, Josh Sims has been sent back to Southampton and several youth team players have been promoted to the first team. All seems very sudden and perhaps slightly over the top, especially with Mannone who I think has been a steady keeper for us.

Is it just the new manager or has something else happened? Seems really excessive.
