Wouldn't believe that one.

Joao to Reading 5m

£7m with add ons according to reports up here, talented player Joao but very frustrating to watch at times, can be a match winner when in mood but he can soon lose interest during games, especially when gets knocked about a bit.

Money probably means Michael Hector will be joining us before deadline

The Sky reports were up before I said I didn't think it was true - Sky & O'Rourke's reports are just quoting footballinsider247 which is hardly reliable, and he doesn't really fit the mould for signings that we typically make - can't remember the last 29 year old we signed who'll likely have little resale value, especially if we're paying a fee.

Obviously it could be true I just think it's unlikely.

Annoyingly quite at Deepdale, we still need three bringing in and some more loaning out.

You do realise Pete O'Rourke owns FootballInsider and writes all their pieces?

Our local journo has tweeted to say there is substance to it.

Do you follow the same recruitment strategy as Brentford? a variation of moneyball?

Doom reported it's between 5-7M for Joao, if it's anything above 6 we've done pretty well. Rumours that Reading are going to let go of their sell on fee for Hector because we've sold them Joao, meaning we can get him cheaper. We definitely need to replace Joao, a young striker on loan from the Premier League would be interesting, losing Joao means we lose a lot of flair up top, Winnall, Rhodes, Fletcher and Nuhiu while all having qualities, are all pretty limited. Rhodes is looking like he's gone by Thursday too, so all of a sudden our wealth of striking options has been decimated.

Joao has flair about 1 in 6 games, he is such a fucking frustrating player, he struggles to perform if he starts a game then he will look like a world beater. He lacks bottle, the bloke fucking cried on the box after losing a tooth.

Shame - we were after the same guy but sounds like we've missed out to you.

Sounds like Wazza will be confirmed this afternoon. Joins in January as a player/coach.

Never boring at our place, I'll give them that.

That signing has fried my brain.

He'll absolute boss this league, might shove some money on Derby going up.

Joao is £800k upfront with the rest by installments up to £5m. Then some add-ons to take it to £7m. We can't pay anymore this season, due to FFP contraints.

We could also be bringing in Rafael Cabral from Sampdoria. Got a few caps for Brazil. Clearly our on loan GK from Everton is not up to scratch at this stage.

We could also be bringing in Pele (CDM) on loan from Monaco, who was actually on loan at Forest last season.

Ovie Ejaria still being rumoured on loan.

If we get these in, then we should be mid-table way this season.

Brandon Barker being talked about again, Harrop has to get loaned out if we bring him in as well as Green.

They said the same about Terry and Villa didn’t go up that year.

Playoff final heartbreak again I reckon. It’s not in Derby’s DNA to get promoted.

Signed two good defensive players as well though, Dowell in on loan, kept the likes of Lawrence, Waghorn & Marriott. They're a good side and Cocu seems a good appointment.

800k up front? I hope you are taking the piss. Utterly pointless selling him then.

No the fee is £5m but first installment will be 800k per Reading for FFP purposes, not many transfers nowadays are paid up front in full whack

Was going to say the same thing - we pay a lot of ours up front (as it generally means you can lower the fees a little), but then ask for payments in via installments.

Rooney officially confirmed for Derby.

Even if he's not quite at the same level he was, it's a great signing for this league.

Will he? He's done ok in American soccer (in a league that's a lower quality to the Championship) but it's not like he's blown the doors off over there. Bradley Wright Phillips has done better in America than Rooney.
