He’ll be 3rd choice I imagine behind Solly and Oshilaja.
In fairness he can be a top full back, but his hamstrings are made out of straw (probably due to lack of fitness and desire to get fit, certainly when he was with us) and he just didn't give a toss.

He was on loan initially and I was very impressed, the year after he signed on loan again, this time with a view to a permanent and just didn't look interested. He spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch and when he played he was a complete liability.

Bowyer seems to be quite a good judge of character so he probably thinks he can get it out of him, he may well do but in the second season Johnson definitely couldn't.

He’s been training with us for the last couple of weeks and according to our head of recruitment he’s ‘Completely proved his fitness and attitude and deserves his contract’.

Don’t think he’ll feature much but he does bring plenty of experience.

As always with these things though it’s just a case of wait and see.

That seems a pretty mad signing.

Tight Venkys don't pay good wages though.

We have taken Heinz Lindtner on trial. 29 year old goalkeeper who has 22 caps for Austria. If he signs I really hope he's number 57.

Not really sure we need another goalkeeper but I wonder if Lumleys fuck up against Luton has made Warburton think we need to improve here. Kelly doesn't appear to be doing that well with the chances (pre season and cup) games that he has had so I can see Kelly or Lumley leaving, with this bloke being our number one and whoever stays dropping/staying as a number 2.

SoutheySWFC tried messaging on Twitter but couldn't find you, been banned?

Offered Hooper a deal, I'd be happy with that.

Brighton supposedly lining up a £10m bid for Ben Davies. Double it.

Can’t see that being true. They’ve already got Dunk, Duffy, Webster, Burn, Clarke and White in that position.

Why? They're probably anticipating offers for a couple of their defenders, hence why they've been scouting Davies, being prepared for eventual sales. He's one of the best centre backs in the league and will go for big money at some point, hopefully not for a while yet mind.

No idea where we would dig up a replacement.

Quick, ball playing, left footed centre backs are like rocking horse shite. I still think Josh Earl will end up there one day but that injury at Bolton was a big set back and he's still a way off being a regular at this level.

We wouldn't be able to replace him with anybody half as good, the lads quality. It would be another development job, probably Earl like you say but that's a 2/3 year job. He'd be a massive loss and I hope we resist any kind of bid in January.

It's a massive season this for us, if we don't manage to get promoted this year I can see a big exodus in the summer. I can't see us holding onto Pearson, Davies etc for another season.

Because they have 6 defenders that are arguably all better in his position and the only one that will possibly be off is Lewis Dunk.

I know Davies is pretty solid, but I can’t see them being after him as he’d be way down the pecking order there and he won’t come cheap as SF pointed out.

Think we can definitely expect a bid unless he signs an extension, not necessarily from Brighton. Think Newcastle have had him watched a fair bit.

Been their best player this season in fairness. Clearly has improved massively from the player that Fulham released, he’s turned out to be a real solid player.

No player comes cheap anymore and £15-20m is not a lot of money for a premier league team to spend. If they sell Lewis Dunk they'll probably be asking for £35-£40m with the ridiculous prices nowadays.

Somebody at Brighton clearly thinks he's worth a look at, otherwise they wouldn't be watching him.

They’ve only spent £20m on 2 players before though, can’t see them chucking that sort of money at a player who’d be something like 5th choice CB personally. We shall see though.

I’d be surprised if it’s Brighton too but if it is, they spent what was it, £26m on Webster? I’d want at least £20m for Davies from them. Been reported that 5 clubs are interested, Everton, Brighton, Newcastle, Wolves and one other I can’t remember.

About £20m for Webster, there are addons but I don’t know how realistic they actually are.

20M is the new 10M now at this level, wouldn't surprise me if next summer someone goes for 30M out of this league. It's nuts when there's so much quality abroad for a snippet of the price, we've got Julian Borner on a free transfer from Bielefeld this summer who looks one of the best in the league already. Actually our best signings have all been free transfers over the last few years, Westwood, Lees, Hutchinson, Lee, Bannan, Borner, Nuhiu, Fletcher, Harris all freebies. Only players we've signed for good value have probably been Forestieri, Reach, Hooper and Hunt.

Can he play in a back 3 or have a Portuguese grandma?

Yeah, I reckon he'd be sound in a back three.

Rumours we're looking at signing Wilfried Bony on a free to replace Afobe. Not sure if that's a good move or not.

Bony is one of those Africans who's clearly lied about his age, the blokes probably in his 40's now. Would explain his rapid decline.
