Signed Andre Dozzell who was released by QPR. Replacment for Joe Morrell. No fanfare signing, but has championship experience

Jesus. We had him on loan a couple of years back as he looked to be on his way from them.
Not saying he’s a bad player, seems a good age and all that but that seems a crazy fee to be quoted. Really feel we could be getting better value for money than that but I guess everyone knows we have the parachute payment money and wants a piece.

One of the best young centre halves in the EFL ronnie Edwards got transferred from Peterborough for 3million.

Interesting that Sheffield United, despite lacking bodies, had him on trial and decided against it.

Callum Doyle and Harry Souttar I see making moves, the former too Norwich apparently and the latter to Sheffield United.

Had harboured some faint hope we might be in for one of those given our complete lack of centre halves at the moment. Real headscratcher as to what on earth we are doing this summer tbh

not sure how true, but what I heard Sheff Utd wanted to sign him, but couldnt. I think their squad numbers are high.

Signed Kaine Kesler-Hayden on a season long loan from Villa.

Was at Plymouth last season before being recalled in January and sitting on their bench.

Wingback who can play on either side. It'd be nice if we could make this one permanent if he does well.

Good player - Preston's business has gone under the radar, but definitely have recruited some talent!

We need a permanent LWB and a RCB and I'll be content. It's been a slow process though.

Hopefully we get Wallem from Slavia Prague. Sounds a player.

I think it has been for a lot of teams, it will be a very busy end of the window. I suspect patience will be the key this window, as teams get their houses in order and players suddenly become available. Loan players historically have always made the difference in the Championship - we're still yet to see that market start up properly.

Seems like the loan market has kicked into gear the last 2 days. Callum Doyle, Alfie Gilchrist, Kesler-Hayden, Alex Robertson...

Yep really hoped we would be in on Doyle given our defensive injuries. Few others potentially on the move from City and Chelsea i think - Bashir Humphreys who was at Swansea last season.

Robertson is a permanent deal i believe for about 1m which feels reasonable

Been away from this for a few days… for some reason when I entered the website through the laptop earlier in the week it redirected elsewhere and downloaded something? So I had to do a full security check. Admin?

Anyway, to answer this question…

…I have not got a clue, other than I think the likes of Sheffield Utd are outbidding us on these players. I see that Jeserun Rak-Sakyi is the latest player they’re in for. I’m convinced they have stolen our recruitment list and just deliberately added 20% to everything we’ve offered.

Considering their takeover hasn’t yet been resolved, I say again… is this not against EFL rules?

We wanted Harrison Burrows but obviously parachute money told. We were also rumoured to be in for Alfie Gilchrist on loan but pulled out and he's gone there.

I'm not sure why they're not under embargo either. I know they sold Osula and Jebbison for good money, so maybe that gave them leeway.

Rak-Sakyi is going to Sheffield Utd because they’re paying the entirety of his wages (£250K basic?) plus a £1M loan fee and have put in a recall clause in January. So they are just outspending their competitors.

That's football. The highest bidder wins, usually. When it comes to the loan market, Premier League teams will monetise their assets as best they can. Gone of the days of picking the most suitable team for development.

I see Solanke is potentially off to Spurs from Bournemouth. Pretty concerned that they will target Adebayo as a replacement - fairly similar type players and Bournemouth were all about pressing from the front last year. And that’s Adebayo skill set too

You are absolutely right. What I was getting at was that the deal from a SUFC perspective isn’t exactly a great one and probably why they’re winning the race.

Birmingham are in the same boat. An incoming party cannot act as they are the owners without first actually buying it / completing O&D test.
They have sold players this summer under the old owner which has paid for their incomings, you get yourself hung up on others quite a bit when your club are hardly paragons of virtue in the past.

McAtee officially gone to Bolton.

Bit of a shame he never played for us in anger as was quite excited when he signed for us. Personally would have liked to have seen us move on from Woodrow and give McAtee that sort of role in the side but just never going to happen with Woodrow contract situation I guess.

Barnsley fans are seething that they've not gone back in for him!

Woodrow being linked with Derby now. Extremely curious if so, with McAtee going, Taylor also rumoured to be going away on loan. We must be targeting a forward signing.

Feels like we have enough other priorities to sign without creating another one.

According to Alan Nixon, Luton are targetting two.

If Luton are only looking at signing 2-3 before the window closes, they're prioritising the wrong areas. Just as the likes of Sheffield United are signing the players we should be signing.
