OK I made a mistake... big woop. Second season - the point still stands that mid table is still a decent result. I'm not exactly an expert of any club other than my own. What exactly are you expecting this season considering they were just 1 win ahead of relegation last season? The signings don't exactly scream of anything other.
I think this is the view for most outsiders looking in..

But when you factor in we made the worst start from any team EVER in the league before Danny Rohl came in and after making 3 loan signings, picked up more points than 19 other teams, it’s exciting to think what he could do with 8 or 9 “mid table signings”

Don't remember you getting back in the Prem? ps you're making too hard a work of getting back to the Championship
We are not ready for the Championship, as a football team we would have stayed up if we got promotion last season, but it is more than that.
How we play, our finances, the infrastructure etc.
If we had gone up the Championship would have drained the club.........Do we want to be another Wigan, Blackburn, Preston all not being able to compete financially in the Championship
A lot of work is going on at Bolton both on and off the field. Would expect us to be in the Premier league in 5 years if things go as i think they may.

Rohl seemed to perform some miracles last season considering what he walked into. I think some optimism is more then justified

Strange signing given his age but probably relatively cheap. Saw some rumours that Thomas Asante might be off so this might be a pre-emptive replacement.

Think that shows where they are right now in terms of spending ability and recovering from bad ownership. Think Corberan is a great manager though

And how do you expect Bolton to compete with the parachute money clubs in the next 5 years? You got some magic beans?

We cannot under our present owners, but some on the edge have sacks of the stuff
If/when we reach the Championship we would have to be funded like a lot of present Championship clubs
That also applies at present....These bids we are putting in and signings like Collins 750k are funded by outside money. Seeing it is you that asks the question...... All Preston signings are being funded by the Hemmings family and the wages that go with it.
Without someone to back a team you cannot compete

Yeah he did, he instilled something into a squad so low on confidence it was almost hollywood movie storyline, he has a full pre-season and he is bringing in his players s we can be optimistic

Same for any side at this level without parachute money, bar the odd, rare exception.

You'll have a higher income than us if you ever come up but there's still a balancing act of how much you can spend Vs revenue. If it wasn't for that, Stoke would spend £100m a year on transfers.

Why have these foreign guys not already tried to buy the club when the price will no doubt be a lot cheaper than it would be if you were a Championship side?

The foreigners are Swiss based and are led by the Brother of one of FV whites main backers Nick Luckock
The Swiss just see us as a hobby it seems for now. Happy to invest but want nothing to do with the running of the club as most are executives in a major commodities Company
If we are to stay as a hobby we will not get no further than the Championship and the Swiss will have to fund us ongoing alongside FV or they may bring Football into the company that they run which in turn brings many options. The Swiss are now the second biggest shareholding after FV

Tommy Conway could be Burnley bound, with Scott Twine and Luke McNally coming to us.

Odd one.

You’d probably say Burnley have got the better deal, especially when you consider what Liam Delap went for. But Conway is into his last year of contract and has showed no intention of signing another one.

He has been with the u21s in pre season, so it doesn’t look like it’s gone down well.

Asprilla going to Rennes for 25m apparently.

Very good fee but we won’t see any of it spent on players I guess.

Fred Onyedinma on trial at Stoke. Had an amazing debut here but never really kicked on from that and became a bit of a squad player. Needs to go back to a place where they actually play with wingers, and probably down a level to get back playing regularly again so I’d be surprised if he stuck at Stoke. Although this time of the pre season clubs can sign players to fill depth/squad gaps.

You have to be the dodgiest club in second tier history.
I know I’m very bias but It’s clearly a money making/laundering scheme for the Pozzos and if I were a Watford fan I’d be seriously disenchanted with it.

Read somewhere that when Asprila is sold it will be over 200m fees and less than 20m spent on incoming players in the last 4 seasons.

In one sense good business but nothing they do is for the benefit of the club. It’s a collection of sellable talent not a team

We’ve announced the signing of ex-West Brom winger Matt Phillips. Malcolm Ebiowei expected to join on loan from Crystal Palace before the weekend too.

Ebiowei is a strange one, when we got relegated he was probably our brightest spark and he came out of nowhere. He had been dropped by Arsenal, dropped by Rangers and we had him in our U21s until we couldn't sign players and he ended up doing a very good job. I guess in the grand scheme of things he played 16 games and only got one goal, perhaps not the most outstanding return, but he helped a side that shouldn't have stood a chance hold their own.

I always thought he would've benefited by staying on, after bouncing around between clubs prior to us and finally having a bit of success. We were obviously in League One and Palace wanted him, but they already had a deep list of wingers on the books. It was just a reason to grab a cheap asset who they could monetise - unfortunately it looks like the bouncing around from club to club hasn't helped.

Exciting player to watch, though.

Signing ex Newcastle youngster Elias Sorenson from Danish side Elfsberg. Scored 24 goals for them last season. Having to get someone in to replace Colby Bishop who's been diagnosed with a heart condition that needs surgery
He's signed a 3 year deal today

Interested to see how he does, it’s highly unusual to sign a player based on his body of work in the Danish third division. We’ve seen a few players signed from lower European divisions this summer in the Championship

A new one out of the blue being rumoured.

Conrad Wallem, Norwegian LWB/LW from Slavia Prague. Looks like our Nordic contingent could grow.

Edwards sounded quite frustrated in his post game interview after the friendly yesterday.

Seems to me we are having real trouble convincing players to come here as he was talking about those we sign needing too "buy in". I wonder if now we have a bit of money and our now looking at a different calibre of player, the type of personality that brings with it is jarring a bit with our usual ethos.

Rumours that Freddie Woodman wants to move back closer to London and may leave on a free at the end of the season. Was very good in his first year but his form dropped a lot last season, he should land himself another Championship club no problem though.

Emil Riis also out of contract, can't see him signing a new deal either. Absolutely criminal if he leaves on a free, especially considering we rejected £7.5m from Boro for him 2 years ago.

Quite a lot of the squad only have 12 months left, i'd keep Potts, Lindsay, and Keane, less bothered about the rest. Holmes & Brady probably worth an extra year. Ledson, Storey, and Hughes can go.

More talk of Conrad Wallem coming here this morning. £2.1m.

The Zetterstrom saga has been tedious - sounds like we were anticipating him being with us for this week and I guess to start on Friday. However, the Sporting Director of Djurgardens came out and said they wanted him to play in ALL of their european qualifiers, bearing in mind he's had a medical and everything is agreed, so wouldn't be with us until the end of the month (29th August).

Warne made a comment about us potentially looking elsewhere, which seems to have had some effect as it looks as though their replacement will be signed on Wednesday and Zetterstrom is now anticipated to leave after the European game on Thursday. Painful, annoying but looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

More talk about Karamoko Dembele today too - assume he is the attacking midfielder we have been after for a while. He was supposedly available for a free transfer at one point, but has been involved in Brest's friendlies - all over strange.

Linked with Cardiff City defender Mark McGuniness for, wait for it…£10 MILLION.

If we are being quoted those sorts of figures for players I can see why we are struggling to recruit.

Jesus. We had him on loan a couple of years back as he looked to be on his way from them.
