We’ve signed this German chap Tom Krauss on a season long loan. Bit disappointing it’s only a loan and not permanent but he seems well thought of.

He’s also currently injured so he will fit right on in

No need for tears.

Anyway. I was being tongue in cheek about the development fee, it'll never happen. Every loan move plays a part in a player's development, so even though Delap shone at Hull, his time at PNE & Stoke were still valuable in his football education.

So on that basis, it'd be impossible to work out development compensation based on a club's contribution, just the time spent at a club.

It can also be said that Prem clubs are doing us a favour by loaning us their young talent in the first place. We've certainly never paid a significant loan fee for a player.

It's a nice idea but just zero chance of happening.
I’ve suggested on here before that for every 30 days on loan at a club, 1% of the next transfer fee goes to each club that has taken the loan. Wouldn’t be earth shattering money typically, but I look at the Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer, it would equate to around £2-2.5M net for both Luton and Blackpool. Instead Leicester are going to pocket the full £30M minus VAT despite only really being in their team for the last 2 years.

Plus Harvey Blair from Liverpool for £300k, rumoured to be 600k with add ons and a 20% sell on fee.

Looks pretty promising, 20 yrs old, very fast and direct.

Maybe one more player for us before the window closes. I’d like another CB and/or striker before the close of window. A good, experienced Championship CB would be ideal.

Actually quite intrigued now with how Liam Walsh gets on this season. No one seems to have wanted him hence why he was on trial for 3 weeks at Luton. But with our budget, we could’ve identified players far above his level. To quote the Second Tier podcast this week: “What are Luton seeing what we’re not seeing?”

I’m not optimistic about it, but would love to be proven wrong. The process would work perfectly, but I’m not even sure it would be a Moneyball signing.

West Brom supposedly launching a second bid for Keane, a pitiful £500k. We should laugh in their faces.

There's also an odd rumour linking Osmajic to Hull.

Being linked with Tom Cannon from Leicester along with a few other clubs. It comes from that Alan Nixon guy though who i dont think has called a transfer of ours for years

It looks like we are signing Alfie Devine prior to the game on Tuesday night. Not reported yet, but mummers locally. He’s largely underwhelmed on loan, definitely has ability, but we will be hoping that he can put it together this season.

He’s certainly well-liked in the England setup and by Spurs. We have a lack of talent and with budgetary restraints it perhaps makes sense that we bring in someone with a raw ability who has struggled to impose it at a senior level. He’s not long turned 20 so still a very young lad!

He was disappointing for us but didn’t help that for the majority of his loan he was being coached by Ian Foster. He was being played as a number 10 mainly, but in our final game of the season he played in the double pivot in midfield and played well.

Turns out it was bad information, the midfielder was Tawanda Chirewa who has been a long-term target but kept very close to the chest. There was 12 teams in for him (assuming a mix between Championship & League One) but between the constant negotiations and Wolves going through their own issues, it seemed to drag on (story of our summer).

Very much a wildcard but adds a lot of things that we desperately need. He’s a player who has very real aspirations of becoming a regular for Wolves so hopefully he can show it for us.

Ipswich Town are trying to sign both Chieo Ogbene and Tahith Chong before the deadline. Sigh, I hate the transfer window.

The latter looked pretty pissed at being substituted at Preston... barely acknowledging the away supporters when he walked around the pitch.

Not sure how much we'd sell for - if it were me, think I'd be happy with £20M for the pair. Would result significant profit over a 12 month period (Chieo was free from Rotherham).

The Doughty rumours have gone quiet, but he's been off the boil for some time now. But we may be in a position to need to do quite a lot of last minute business for replacements.

Meanwhile, Luton are in for Tom Cannon, perhaps allowing one of Woodrow or Taylor to go out on loan themselves. A fee of £7M mentioned. Think that's expensive, but he's still quite young. Stoke and Sheffield United also interested.

I like both players individually, but to be honest i dont think we have played either in their best positions with Ogbene being forced into RWB and Chong being tried at midfield. We have sort of tried to build this 343 around Chong and thats not really working at the moment too.

As long as we re-invest well, a huge caveat this late in the window, i wouldnt be averse to it.

I see now on Twitter that an initial fee of £8M is being offered by Ipswich. I presume there will be an add on if Ipswich stay up. Snap their hand off for that.

Patrick Roberts is being touted as a replacement. Do wonder if that's a bit of a downgrade.

We were linked with him very early in the summer, think quite a few of those early links were players who were on our list if we stayed up so this strikes me as a good signing.

Clubs obviously seeing a lot of value in Belgium at the moment!
Hopefully although sounds like he will be a squad player at first but then probably won’t take much for him to progress if he is decent.

Sounds like our interest in Conrad Wallem isn't dead. Looks like we've played the long game to get the best possible prices. Looks like he's thrown his toys out of the pram over there and he's been left out of recent squads.

Danger is that someone else may swoop in if the price tag has dropped.

An absolute midget too. Doesnt fit with our usual style of athletic types to suit a high pressing style. Chong and Ogbene arent big but they are athletic, Roberts certainly isnt.

My abiding memory of Roberts is the Play Off semi final (where admitedly he played out of position) where he looked totally overwhelmed by our physicality in the game

Weird situation with Andros Townsend, signed for Antalyaspor in Turkey but cannot be registered with them as they are under a transfer ban

Weird all around as to why we would do business with a club sufficiently known for not paying to the extent they are banned and why Townsend would want to go there given an unstable financial situation plus knowing a ban was imminent.

Yup, cracking player. Can both do the dirty grunt work and pick a mean pass.

We’d have had him back in a second but in fairness he deserves a shot at a higher level.

And unlike most players we get on loan from EPL clubs (who will eventually get binned off and drop to our level anyway) he may have a fair shot at the WHUFC first XI.

So a championship loan makes sense if that’s the plan.

We are being linked with another CB from Belgium this time called Nathan Ngoy

Adding that up with Palace selling 2 centre halves of their own, think that might add up to Mengi being off. Let’s hope for big money at least
Apparently we have backed out of it last minute. In a very on brand situation, he has been on/off injured for a while so perhaps failed a medical.

Us and Hull linked to Josh Bowler.

I'd be happy with this, not only because I rate him, but because the lashers would cry their fucking eyes out. They loved him.

Per the guy who broke the story, sounds like Luton decided they now have enough defenders and now they want to prioritise other areas. Not like throwing around €5M is a big deal at all and our own players are always fully fit…

Reports saying we're favourites for Josh Bowler now. Permanent move. He still has a house in Lancashire.

He's exactly what we need since losing Millar.

I don't think we are interested, we've got better wingers in our sights. Possible he might be a fallback if either of the two main targets doesn't work out.
