To add - lots of these clubs who have “gone for it”, kept their players and racked up debt, don’t even own their own stadiums anymore.

We’re going to see quite a few clubs at this level in trouble over the new few years because they gambled and went for it.

In our case the stadium is still owned by the same bloke who owned it before, same for Derby.

On paper Sheff Utd don't own their ground, nor do Bristol City, Reading and Forest given a cursory glance at their accounts.

I think this selling the ground to the owner business is very very dangerous personally. Suddenly becomes a very sellable asset that is independent to the club and when the going gets tough you don’t know what these owners will do...

You do know that if your club is bought lock stock and barrel by one bloke then he owns your ground don't you? Stripping it into a separate company matters little except on paper.

Looking into the Championship from outside for so long I agree with the Brentford strategy. With respect to them they are a tiny club that are now toe to toe with every Sleeping Giant in the Championship. Theres clubs here or just recently got promted that could, and arguably have been, in the bracket of biggest in the whole country and little Brentford are up there slugging away with them financially.

Yes maybe they could have taken a slightly riskier strategy to keep top players one more year and take a ahot, but as a supporter who nearly lost their club i get the thinking.

Until you have almost lost your club you dont know that feeling. Some of you are maybe blasé and used to challenging for the top. Some of us are still just happy to be at the same table.

Delighted QPR have signed Pugh. Confident Judge will remain with us now.

Would be fucking buzzing with Scott Sinclair.

Won't happen.

Crystal Palace have bid cash plus Sorloth (striker they signed from our sister club in January) for Watkins. Likely to be accepted.

Is Isaac Vassell going to be good enough for this level? L2 is a lot different than the Championship obviously. One goal in 20 games for Birmingham.

Pugh was pretty good at Bournemouth for a long time and will add experience to what seems to be a young team.

Kane has been at Blackburn and Hull on loan so their fans will know a bit but coming from Chelsea you'd hope he would be pretty decent....

Did you go yesterday? - you guys played well and much like the Cup game deserved better than a 1-0 defeat.

No I didn't go to it. Our fans have come away from it feeling pretty confident for the season ahead.

Hugill joins QPR

We are beginning to have a decent looking side. I would like to think we won't be flirting with relegation this year.

Not sure what is happening with Luongo. He didn't come on our pre season tour as he was being linked away (our official site even said that his future lies elsehwere) but no bids have come in, as far as I am aware.

How much cash?
Not certain at the moment. There's a fair amount still to be sorted out - the way the payments are structured is very much in Palace's favour, and there's a disagreement over how much Sorloth is worth (especially given he doesn't immediately slot in to our usual way of playing).

Reckon it'll happen but will take a little while to get sorted out.

I dare say many are looking for a RB right now so hopefully someone were looking at too.

Wages would be the issue. If Sheffield Wednesday are already linked then you’d think that’s us out of the running automatically.

I’d say no but it’s the pool we are able to swim in I guess.

Personally I’m a little disappointed we haven’t looked to take a chance on a few players from leagues 1 and 2 and other lower levels of the game. We had good success getting those sorts of players in before and other clubs at this level have had some success in doing that. Think it would stand us in good stead should we get relegated as well.

Potentially great news for us. Believe we get 20% of any profit beyond the £1.8m Brentford paid for him.

Hopefully, it will be in the region of a £10M fee....Have their been any rumours on the fee?

The problem is that the best players in League 1 are out of our price range too.

Not sure about that given we’ve spent over a million on a keeper already. Think you can get decent value from that level in the 500k-1 million range. We’ve shown already we have the backing for that.

And how much were Stacey, Berry, Collins et al.

Looks almost certain that Gavin Whyte is off to Cardiff then.

Bugger. Means we only have Jamie Mackie left up front now :(

I’m not sure - but didn’t we buy out of the sell on clause a year or so ago?

If it was straight up cash I think we’ve been asking for £14-16m including add ons.
