Early in the game he was doing all the Grant things we know and love (if he’s on your team). Was difficult though for anyone to get a foothold with the wind as it was. Towards the end of the game particularly after we brought on Charsley you could see he hadn’t played a while as was struggling to keep with the running of him and Garrity. I think with more game time he will be a smart signing for them.

Cheers. From a personal level I hope he does well. Might take him a while to get match fit but as you say it could be the signing Scunny need to stay up.

From a Tranmere pov that was just orrible! FGR have often been the pantomime villains at Prenton in the past, but not today as they played us off the park.
Yeah I’m giving up this optimism lark. Forest Green were light years ahead of us today and even felt sorry enough for us to fluff a penalty at the death. Both second half goals were good strikes, while they had decent players, it was the way they played as a team unit that impressed. Up against a resurgent Stevenage next, not hopeful

Predictable result given our current form, wind and conditions made for a poor game overall, Mansfield made their own luck and deserved their win.

First goal was a suspect handball, but we’d been terrible attacking wise until that point. Mansfield made their own luck and took it - something we don’t do.

Offered nothing second half and let another goal in from a set play, Drinan then hits the post to run salt in the wound. Playing poorly with no luck either and it becomes another awful game for us.

The next week will be telling, Jackett under pressure now because we’ve been really bad for a while.

Thank god we had a good start.

Well done Mansfield on their club record.

Our signing of the season has clearly been Rob Edwards, he's getting a real tune out of mostly decent but not star-quality players or reviving late careers like with Jamma. They all seem to like him, like each other and like playing which is a contrast with Mr Cooper.

We average like 2.5pts a game against the bottom half, while we have only taken 2 points from 7 against the top sides.

So in terms of top 3 today isn’t really a huge impact.

Barrow unlucky not to get a point there.

Really hoping that Pask’s injury is a minor one. No coincidence that after he joined we won three on the spin with three clean sheets prior to today. We just are a better team with him at the centre of the defence.

Salford looked really really poor. One tactic which was to lump it to Matt Smith. Should have been more comfortable but it’s a much needed win and we’re handily placed with games in hand.

Obviously very happy with that result. Not what we expected, but it can often work against you when you have a larger home crowd than usual. Hard to bare.

A run of two games a week coming up. Only one youngster added during the window. But it means none of a successful squad is undermined. So hard to question except with hindsight.

What happens from here we don't know. I'd have to concede we have a pretty good set-up. So why change it.

In isolation, you’re right of course. A bit of our dent to our goal difference though, which may prove to be important.

It was an easy 2-0 in the end. Some of the Orient players didn’t seem to want the ball. Would be very disappointed if I was an Orient fan.

Thats utterly frightening that FGR can go away to 2nd place, win 4-0 and still miss a penalty.

Best team in L2 for quite a while, surely?

Agreed they didn’t look up for it in the most part.

The shot that hit the post was such a let off he should be scoring that all day.

As for our game Walsall are awful. We were down to 10 men from 35ish minutes and we still won, limiting them to their first shot on target in the 65th.

We weren't at our best either tbh, this team has a lot of potential but we're still not near our maximum potential.

13/15 points though is superb and we can definitely start to look upwards.

Sutton away, Oldham away and Mansfield home up next though - tough ask, this will really show whether we've got something about us or not.

The way we defended today we never gave ourselves a chance, and we hugely missed Tom Davies at the back.

However, fair play to Forest Green, who were better than us in every area of the pitch and will deservedly go up as champions. The best side I have seen at this level in recent years.

We still have a great chance of automatic promotion, and two winnable games in the next seven days.

We could hardly have timed them first half goals better either to stop crowd then knock the wind out you a bit. Even at three was dreading Kop getting going if you'd scored.

Yes, the timing of the goals was terrible from our point of view. We needed to be stubborn and make life awkward for you, but we never got a proper foothold in the game.

It was a blatant handball for the 1st, which was odd as he literally gave us fuck all.

i’ve moaned about crap refs before like at barrow last week when we got nothing, it’s only fair i comment when we get the rub of the green.

The game changed for me when we got the goal after 40 mins or so with the wind, orient we’re and are a decent side, had they got to 0-0 at half time they’d have had a massive mental lift.

kinda comfortable though

I didn't go today but would compare that performance to our 5-0 win at Newport on a New Year's Day back in the Conference...we scored early, got a second later in the half, scored a third not to long after the break and then added a bit of gloss late on with two more (there is a link to Tranmere in that game too, as Norwood bagged a hat-trick).

Looked to be some exciting games in league 2 today.

Top of the table massacre, Colchester getting a point when down to 9 men, Crawley getting a 95 minute winner!

I was stuck at work. All I had was occasional bbc updates. Forgot myself when Tony Craig won it! Slightly embarrassing screech !

Mate, you really aren’t horrific.
No cutting edge granted, but they work hard and knock it about ok.
A flukey win for vale.

Not sure flukey is the right word. It was ugly sure.

They look like a team which really needs someone who can make the ball stick up top to bring others into play. Then all the willing runners they have become more effective.

We were awful Kieran.
Awful.
A free header first half and that 6 yard box chance for Scunthorpe, whereas I’m struggling to remember anything we did of note… it hit someone on the bollock and hit the post.
What else?
We are struggling with injuries , but my god We look like a terrible team.

Well Wilson should have done a hell of a lot better second half when he had a header at goal. Though will note other than that Wilson is getting back up to his high standards.

Not saying we were good as we weren’t but we were better than them. First half I agree we were terrible particularly keeping the ball. Truth is they look like the almost newly formed squad that they are trying to find a way to work with each other. Not ideal certainly.
