well, you're matching them for fouls at least?
Well one more foul for them and we can at least claim the moral victory. Woah! Just had two shots and scored the second, 2-1.

Comeback on

Didn’t last long, 3-2 Wigan. Poor defending allowing a free header

fair result for us sadly, Morecambe played well and should deserve to stay up if they keep playing like that, I've seen far worse in this division.

Another day, another changed line-up, Luke Imp have we managed to put out the same side on consecutive matches this season?

Goalkeeper, Josh Griffiths is out injured and replaced by 18/19? year-old Sam Long who makes his first league start. Defender TJ Eyoma is out and Max Melbourne comes in and no Chris Maguire. Ted Bishop who isn't fully fit is back at right back. A real mismashed defence which won't be able to keep a clean sheet - this score could be anything.

Good to see Marquis start and interesting to see where Cullen plays - looks like attacking midfield? We also have a whopping 6 subs available!
I'd be amazed if we had!

I was like you, to see we'd lost Griffiths, Eyoma and Maguire before the game, you wonder how on earth it's gonna pan out. L1 debut for the young 'keeper, Melbourne is 4th choice CB and 7th choice defender full stop, Bishop having to continue at RB, and that midfield of McGrandles and Fiorini is a bit, er, weird? Not that we can do anything else with it really.

Griffiths is leaving near me this season and I passed it at 2pm and he wasn't there so assumed he was in Plymouth but clearly not!

Great result for us, though. Top effort under the circumstances.

Early days under McKenna but the one touch pass and move he seems to have quickly drilled into the players is a joy to watch and Bolton performance aside it looks out of place in League 1. Three wins from his first four, cannot grumble at that. Plenty still to work on of course, we should have been home and hosed before that 88th minute FK; which our commentators suggested Walton had covered... I'm not so sure.

8 points adrift with 19 to play with Wimbledon, Gillingham and Doncaster coming up. You never know.

Edit: Didn't catch this on iFollow... thought it was straight onto the crossbar. Some save.

Ridiculous result (considering the injury situation). Thats away wins at Sunderland, Plymouth and Wigan that i can remember. If only we could sort out our home form! Such an important result when you see some of the other scorelines at the bottom of the table. Its so tight!

Fantastic finish from Dion Charles today something we have lacked for a while, In Evatt we trust starting to build momentum, soon to be really tested against Sunderland.

Only 15 adrift from 6th with a game in hand, just saying...

Jackson, Walsh, Hopper, Maguire and Eyoma and Bridcutt all due back by mid-February as well.

Doesn't sound like Griffiths injury is anything to write home about and we sent him back to WBA to make sure he wasn't injuring his arm (old injury) further by playing him and it sounds like he's ok to carry on thankfully.

Good win today in front of our first home 10k+ crowd since the pandemic. Done the double over Sheff Wed which is nice and of course it is ex Wednesday player Sam Winnall who gets our winner.

Crewe are the worst side I’ve seen at the abbey this season but we weren’t much better today.

However that’s 9 points from 9 and a big boost and gap from us and the bottom four now.

Was a very poor quality game, between two very poor teams.

Yeah we were poor today. Crewe had a lot of the ball but didn’t create a lot. We look leggy, we look like a side who are having to name four youth team players on the bench. Taking nine points this week from three underserved wins has sorted us out massively.

I can't see beyond a home win for this one.

Our form post covid winter break is patchy, and we're in the midst of overhauling our team for the second time in 6 months. Inconsistency is inevitable and you're one of the top sides in this division with a strong home record.
Glad you were rigjt, however you dominated the first half. You need Tyler Walker to get up to speed fast.

Kamikaze defending from both sides.

How on earth we won, Wednesday should have been out of sight by half time. All of us (including my Wednesday supporting friend sitting with us!) acknowledged it should have been a penalty. Great strike by Bannan who was excellent I thought, a real cut above. He was pulling the strings and we couldn’t get near him.

I felt in large spells we were outplayed, outthought and tactically outdone first half. In reality we could have easily been three down by half time. We went into the break somehow level (how, I will never know!).

Second half we went man for man and took the initiative. Realistically we had no alternative than to go three at the back. I thought at the time we should but didn’t think KR would go for it having not played the system before. To his credit, it worked to great effect.

In the end we probably edged the second half but to say we deserved to win would be a big stretch. We were incredibly clinical and won the game.

I fancied us to get something out of the game today but Charlton too strong on the day. Excellent wins by Donny and Morecambe, Lincoln getting a good 3 points so not the best of days league wise. Go again on Tuesday with the first of 2 successive home games

Looking very interesting and tight at the bottom of the league. You, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham seemed to start pulling away, now dragged back in. Can't call who will going down.

I watched it on iFollow. Whilst we showed promise in the opening half hour, we never really troubled your keeper which is pretty much the story of much of our season. Once you won back control, there only ever looked like one winner.

The positive is that there are signs of what the Cowley's are trying to achieve in our set-up and play. Constant player overhaul means we're never going to really click this season. Walker looks like exactly what he is. Someone thrown in to the side without any knowledge of how to play off the players around him.

A strong end to the transfer window and there's a slim chance we could find some consistency and attempt a late push to the playoff's. In reality we'll finish somewhere between 8th and 12th.

I'd say you could have won, not should have.

A game last 90 minutes, and over the whole game I suspect both sides would have said a draw was a fair result. We started well, you scored against the early run of play, and then you dominated the rest of the first half. Second half our change to a three at the back (part forced by both centre halves having to go off injured) was the game changer. You never seemed to get to grips with it and as the game went on we became the team finding space and looking the more likely to score. That said, it was a bit like a boxing match, with two fighters slugging it out, real good end to end game, with both sides leaving gaps at the back.

For context we were without a number of regular first choice players and had to make three changes after Friday afternoon, including two on the morning of the game. That line up had never played together before, and in the first half it showed, but we have a lot of character in the squad and as the game went on we adjusted to it.

Barry Bannon is a great player to watch, but I don't think he'd have had as much freedom if Herbie Kane had been available, as he's our Bannon and the player most of our play comes through.

Looking forward to getting everyone back and available, and a couple of new signings, in the week. We'll be in the shake up come the end of the season for sure.

It's probably going to go down to the last couple of games of the season. I still think there will be a team, now reasonably mid table who will start to enter a dreadful run, come Feb/ March and go down. The opposite is true course, look how Burton Albion came back from dead last year. This league not for the faint hearted eh

Dreadful game between two dreadful sides but got the win in the end which is all that matters.

Burstow and Morgan the goal scorers, great day for our academy.

A scrappy performance against Cheltenham but a welcome 1 0 victory.

Smith was lucky with the goal because he appeared to foul his marker but equally unlucky having a good header ruled out for "offside".

Cheltenham played some tidy football but most of it was in their own half thankfully.

N'lundulu should have seen a red card for a late challenge on our keeper in the first half, and Boyle pushed his luck with two more late challenges after his yellow card.

Ladapo was given a start to give him the chance to impress any watching scouts but they can't have been very taken with him..
He strolled about in typical Ladapo fashion, made about two useful contributions in the entire game, before being subbed on 88 minutes.
We need to replace him and move him out even if it's not a great fee.

Contrast him with Smith who worked and battled and scored and carried on covered in blood after a clash with one of Cheltenham's centre halves.
He must look across at Ladapo and think WTF.

Overall it was an off day and apart from a 10- 15 minute spell in the second half 200 odd Cheltenham fans made more noise than our lot.

Away at Plymouth.

In typical Lincoln style we've gone from having options in defence and none up top to options up top and none in defence.

No Walsh, Jackson, Monstma, Bridcutt or Hopper. Bishop has a slight groin issue, which Appleton would ideally like to give him a game off for but with it Rotherham being postponed, he might play him.

Poole and Eyoma likely to start at CB, I'd be amazed if Marquis didn't start up front and I've got a feeling we'll go with what is effectively a front four of Scully, Whittaker, Marquis and Maguire.

For most of the first half of the season we were getting inconsistent performances and poor results but over the last 6 or 7 games, we've got consistent performances but inconsistent result.

Our games against Plymouth recently seem to be quite open and that'll suit us. We'll not keep a clean sheet so will have to score at least two.
Had a really good day out. All the PLymouth folks were pleasant and welcoming. And of course the result helped.

Bloody Hell, that win yesterday was good. That's 2 really good performances against Wigan and Wycombe. It leaves me genuinely optimistic about going to Accy next Saturday and getting a positive result - and genuine optimism against Accy is unheard of for the last 2 decades.

Another great result for us and finally have someone to stick away the numerous chances we create.
A genuine collector's item for us as well, scoring from a corner.
Just need to sort our terrible home form out, 7th best away from home, 23rd at home.
