Is it over yet? No? Oh FFS, alright then....

A mere two fixtures, presumably late rearrangements because of the Tinpot, since Peterborough and ourselves are involved.

Our game amazingly is still of marginal importance to Cambridge, since they can still mathematically go down if they lose both their remaining games and Cheltenham win both of theirs.

I would have said that didn't have a cat in hell's chance of happening once upon a time, but now it's just "unlikely".

Once upon a time, although Posh have had random unpredictable glitches of massive shitness, you'd have thought that they would brush Chelts aside here, but it's as good as given that the PUFC side is going to be an "experimental" one, in order not to risk key players in advance of the upcoming playoffs.

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk...nited-rest-in-the-next-two-away-games-4593854

Similarly, Chelts' final day fixture against Stevenage once looked a much tougher prospect than it does now, with Fatboy having fucked off and Stevenage having nothing to play for.

For our part, although Exeter have made an even more shameful job of this since they currently sit top of the form table, we appear not to understand the concept of "on the beach" and have seemingly left it until the games didn't matter to stumble upon 2 points per game promotion form. :ffs:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we're any great shakes, and most of the recent wins have been against the poorer sides (Vale, Shrews, Carlisle). But the point being, there is no sense that we've given up (the Shrews and Vale results actually mattered to those teams, they didn't to us).

Wycombe on a Tuesday night, what could possibly go wrong? They seem to be in a bit of form but fancy us to get a point and all but confirm our safety.

We’ve got an awful record against Wycombe, definitely a bogey team for us. I’d take the flukiest scrambled draw ever tbh.

Edit: and as svh alludes to, our Tuesday night record is awful too. The only saving grace is it’s at home so we have half a chance. If it was away it’d be a certain defeat.

Didn’t realise Cambridge were still in danger, a loss and Cheltenham win makes it a full on three way battle then.

That said if Cambridge need a result at the weekend well our boys haven’t exactly put in much effort when there was something to play for so even less likely to bust a gut with Benidorm and Crawley away on the mind.

Yeah but misery does enjoy company, so your players may well drag Cambridge down to their level.

That's my hope anyway. I do wonder if Cambridge are losing whether Posh might take their foot off the gas tomorrow night.

Wishful thinking? Absolutely!!

It will probably be quite bouyant at VP in terms of gallows humour, usually in this situation all the old songs come out as we make the best of it.

But yeah no chance we put in a performance. 9 of the 11 couldn't wait to get down the tunnel at full time on Saturday.

Peterborough aren’t going to do us any favours are they? They’d love the relegate us given half the chance, even if it means losing a game.

I think we need to win (or at least get a point) tomorrow and forget about Cheltenham’s result.

I don't think we'll win tomorrow tbh, even if it's against Posh B team. Half our squad is out injured and the other half seem to be playing through injuries. Not a recipe for success against what will be a young team with fresh legs and a chance to impress their manager.

Come on Cheltenham, don't give up. We need you, it can't just be us and Rovers in the South West next season..

If you lot really wanted us here you wouldn't have both beaten us in the last couple of weeks! :dk::gr:

Fuck, tomorrow is going to be horrid.

Worst case scenario sees us wanting the scum to score, and come on that's wank.

I can't work out why I'm so nervous this far ahead of tonight's game. Every time we've needed to win this season we've bottled it, so why should tonight be any different?

I almost just want it over with - but then I can't bring myself to accept it either.

In the (frankly unlikely) event we win tonight, I’ll be looking at adding a prestigious new cup competition to the league, the Dead Rubber Trophy, which goes to the league team that wins the highest number of pointless games in a given season after they can neither get promoted or relegated.

Think Exeter are in the lead so far, but we’ve also got a shot.

Why is it unlikely you'll beat us? You're in good form but the only thing I can hang my coat on is the amount of travelling and away games you've had in a very short space of time. Hopefully it's one game too far for you tonight.

Same for me. Think for me it's because, despite the start we had, it really feels like we should have survived this year but have thrown it away a bit. So many points dropped from winning positions, heaps of bad luck and then horror shows like Carlisle and Rovers recently...all we had to do was maintain our November-February form for a little longer.

Ah well - if we win tonight then we're in for an exciting final day, if not then at least we can finally move on.

I just feel like we’ve had a decent run and it needs to end somewhere, we’re due a half-arsed stinker and this could be it.

For our final day game v Charlton then it’ll be most likely Joe Jacobson’s last ever game in pro football, this is his testimonial season and his 400th game in total, so you’d hope that the players will put a shift in so as not to end on a bum note.

So if there’s ever a game where the players might think, “nah fuck it”, it’s this one as opposed to Saturday.

…and I forgot you had Lyle Taylor up front, who was a flop for us earlier this season on a short-term deal (not his fault, we were expecting him to be Sam Vokes which he never has been).

By reputation though, he sounds like enough of a stroppy dick to want to play out of his skin against us and prove a point - so I would be utterly unsurprised if he scores tonight.

I don't think it will just be us 'moving on' if we lose tonight.

Vale were actually the better team last Tuesday I thought. Any team with a half competent forward line and defence would have put a half arsed Wycombe to the sword.

Safe to say these Peterborough players won't be playing too much part in the playoffs based on this first 20. The keeper is on crack or something

Fucking hell, everyone else in the relegation dogfight should be fuming.

That Posh goalie is making his first start since Feb…when we dicked them 5-2, I can’t remember whether 2 or 3 of the goals were directly his fault, but he had a shocker - not having played for them since tells its own tale.

2-0 but we should have 4 or 5. The last 10 minutes have been worrying though, we've started sitting back and inviting pressure. If we keep doing that, we're not good enough to stop them from scoring.
