A last gasp winner, which looked less and less likely as the game went on. Fair play to Mousinho though who went for it by unloading all his attacking options from the bench against an increasingly less ambitious Burton.

Doesn't do much more than stabilise our mid-table position but always nice to win.

I don’t think Bonner is interested in the Prem, whoever said that doesn’t know him well enough. But I can see him ending up as a coach for the FA, either back room for the first team or involved in the youth teams. You’ve got to remember he’s a coach first and a manager second, he was coaching young players for over 15 years prior to becoming Cambridge manager.

I still think he’ll have a great career ultimately, he is an excellent coach. But he’s lost his way this season as a manager, partly due to the limited talent on players we have and partly due to how he’s used them. That’s not poor coaching, it’s just poor management/lack of budget to compete.

I don’t see Evatt going any higher than he goes with Bolton, he’s too abrasive in my opinion.
12 months ago I’d probably have agreed with you but he’s openly said he is working on himself and managing those situations he used to find himself in with opposition managers and refs. I’ve noticed a massive difference in the last 3-6 months with his demeanour on the touchline, the way he speaks in interviews etc. Last season he said we are the best team in the league and it put so much pressure on the team and raised expectation with the fans and we clearly weren’t. It was a big own goal really. He’s much more reserved now in the way he talks up the team now. We’ve just had back to back 5-0s and he’s saying “take it one game at a time…. It’s only 3 points”. I can imagine a year or 2 ago he’d have been saying “see I told you we were the best in the league”.

He’s also developed tactically since he came in. He was a football purist when he started… wanted to outscore the opposition playing with the ball only on the floor… didn’t care about set pieces or the defence. We are now a bit more direct, improving on set pieces whilst still having a lot of possession. We play out from the back a lot but also relieve pressure better by playing to a target man when we have to. We are also much more compact defensively and don’t get caught out anywhere near as much as we used to on the counter. The tactical and squad development since the start of last season has been amazing.

I also kind of hope you are right about him going no higher than with Bolton because we all want him here for as long as possible. He currently has the best win % in our history.

Genuinely baffled how Shrewsbury won 6 in a row before last night with Chey Dunkley in the team? Was utter dreadful, and just lucky we couldn't hit a barn door lately.

We didn't play great last night and a draw was the fair result but we could easily have won that game if Bayliss remembered to pack his shooting boots. How he hit the bar from 6 yards out I'm still not quite sure!

Dunkley didn't have a great game last night but has easily been one of our best players so far this season. We're very blessed in the CB department with Dunkley, Flanagan and Pennington. Just a shame two were missing last night as that affected us immensely. I think if we had Leahy in CM and not CB, we'd have won that last night. We just needed somebody in midfield to take the game by it's bollocks as Exeter were there for the taking as equally as we were.

12-18 months ago I’m sure a Cambridge fan on here said that Bonner would be managing in the prem in 5 years and would have a better career than Evatt etc. It’s amazing how one season can just derail that. Surely he would be your best chance of getting promoted from league 2 again if you do go down. Up until recently he’d done a very good job on a limited budget.
lot of time for Bonner after the way he and Cambridge conducted themselves when we held a tribute for the Burnden Disaster.
In truth it was not only Cambridge fans mocking Evatt but the Majority of people on this forum, be it lge 2
Slated both Bolton and Evatt.........Same clowns are still in lge2 as they have been for most of there history

We were absolutely garbage last night. We played well for about 15 minutes in the first half where we managed get an equaliser. We went in 2 1 down at half time and normally in the second half when your behind you normally have 10 minutes when you put the away team on the back front and I feel we didn't really do that. Barnsley then went up the other end and scored a lucky deflected goal which pretty much finished the match. We then made several subs including bringing Taylor and Harrison on and still we didn't really do much and we're generally hoofing it long or misplacing passed out of play. The only real chance we had that I can think of in the 2nd half was when Harrison scored but was ruled out for offside. We are absolutely shite and deserved to lose.
