Did they? I must have missed them.

Your three main chances were gifted to you on a plate by us. The Cook chance you mentioned was the only other half decent one and didn’t make sky’s mini highlights.

I thought you had a bigger budget than that so fair enough. We’ve got lots of our own issues I know that but Bradford under Hughes in the three times I’ve seen you against us have been solid, direct and safety first and I just think you’d probably do better under somebody else.
His header across goal from a CB’s cross was a sitter by his standards, whether it made sky or not. And a penalty and one on one are far from half chances. But we didn’t deserve anymore than we got, but other than for 20 minutes after we scored it wasn’t some sort of attack v defence it was two teams who lacked confidence in front of goal. I think we could do better or a lot worse than Hughes tbh, he’s steadied the ship after some disastrous appointments(Dereks Morecambe had a glorious 1 shot on goal tonight, anything after him feels like a positive step) and I wouldn’t trust or owner or CEO both of who are astute with the business side of things but have little knowledge of football, to make the right appointment. I’d see a director of football come in first who knew what they were doing, but I won’t bore you or anyone else with what I’d change at the club. Our budget isn’t that high as we have high overhead’s and are self sustaining. Our owner hasn’t put a penny in since December 2020.

Mansfield drawing too many games again already? Backed you for promotion this year!
We only drew because of the injuries ,which meant we were forever having to move people about and we should have won it still dont worry your moneys safe if we can get another defender in

When you put it like that it annoys me we haven’t won. Just like at Crewe.

That’s why it’s annoying, we should’ve ran off into the sunset with 3 points again, but here we are only with 1 like crewe.

Stupid goals to concede and too wasteful with chances, hopefully it changes and it needs to.

Concerned about the injuries though, to have 4 players injured in a game isn’t normal - to lose Alfie kilgour possibly for the season is going to be a miss.

I'm going to take a bit of a punt and say Alfie Kilgour is regarded as a top quality player at this level.

Have to be happy with that last night, there's still loads of room for improvement and the first half wasn't great but we played some exceptional football for about 25 minutes after half time and blew Newport away.

Had a look at the Fair Play table and it seems the refs are a bit booking happy.
One point for yellow and 3 points for a red.

A confused and injury hit Stockport team vs a limited and negative Bradford team would be my take on tonight.

Our back three is too small and giving the ball away in dangerous areas and gifting goals and chances to the opposition who never looked like creating any of their own.

Bradford’s back three are all giants but were abused by pace and trickery in wide areas and were never in any danger of giving the ball away because it was hoofed down field quick sharp.

I’d say we looked the better team and played the better football but there is a lot of work to do for both managers and our summer recruitment looks really horrific once again.
I'm not sure limited is fair. Negative, absolutely but I thought you were more limited and one dimensional than us.

You will soon come to realise this but every Mansfield player that gets a knock and is out for a few weeks is one of the best players in Leagues 1 and 2.

That’s a very kind observation that you have of us, i wish i had that confidence.

In reality our defence was built around him, so to lose him probably for the season is a bit of bugger. Especially given our regular left back is also out for the season.

We’ve more cover this season and he’s already said he’ll need to get someone else in. We’ve had a kind start - stockport a week on saturday will be the first decent top side we’ve faced this season - it’s those games which will tell me more about us.

If we can stay six points ahead of Stockport I think we my do well this season.

It's all a bit surreal for me.

Darcy is a bit of a star for me. He will not get the massive plaudits of the goalscorers but the amount of ground he is covering back and forward is tremendous.

That card table, we had 3 players booked in the first game for kicking the ball away at free kicks. If only someone had mentioned this ws going to be thing this season

Elliott Lee. And yes he is sheer quality with the work rate to match.

I'm a big fan of Elliot Lee too. It's not difficult to spot his quality when I've seen Lee play, albeit exclusively on TV. good to hear opposing fans praising players.

The likes of Lee (Wrexham) , Palmer and Bostock (Notts) were way too good for NL last season. All quality midfielders.

A good night overall for The Alex last night, not the greatest 1st half performance but in the 2nd half I thought we played some excellent football. Lot's of credit to Lee Bell who actually might be turning around the ship in quicker fashion than Big Dave. Thought Newport looked ok with some sound players, maybe they tired a bit in the 2nd half but you can never right them off as they seem to have an in built spirit every season we play them.

Fair play to the 200 odd Exiles who made the trip on a Tuesday night, I imagine they had mixed feeling about Mickey D netting twice and getting man of the match, but I also expect they are not overly shocked.

Hearing our victory is subject to investigation due to Bradford fans alerting the FA to the fact Eisa is shite and couldn’t possibly have scored twice last night

Congrats to him, doubled his goal scoring tally from his time with us. Some achievement scoring two years worth of goals in one game.

Yes police escort in from there lol
You are really going round the houses if you're going in that way!! Not exactly the easiest either when getting into Wrexham as you'd be taken right through the town!

Going up the M54, A5, A483 is a lot easier and all bypass till you get to Wrexham and the ground is 1 minute away.

When you lot played us in THAT game, I thought Bostock was miles ahead in terms of quality. We couldn't get near him and that free kick was to perfection.

Lee when on form is absolutely outstanding. First 20 mins he was a little anonymous but once he got going, Warsul didn't have a clue on how to handle him.

Anyone know if Mansfield only dropped points because they have players injured?

The way they’ve started we all wish we had Stockport away this Saturday.
Stockport will improve once they realise the purpose of the frames shrouded by nets at each end are for

Kilgour out for the season is a fucking blow. Just as it looked as though we’d sorted the defence out after 2 years of not having enough depth at all. Only positive is the window is still open and we can get another in but it’s not going to be anyone that will have the presence that Kilgour has had for us.

That’s him and Hewitt pretty much out for the season now.

Having them 2 out is a bloody disaster.

Posting about injury jinx’s are more boring than those who have to read it haha

He’s a lovely lad as well, like the golden boy with the smile and the looks. gutted for him and got us as he was bloody brilliant, such a leader and someone who had everyone onboard with.

I hope he’s alright and makes a recovery, the lads a legend.
