Andy Crosby has conducted our press conference today for the Tranmere game so looks like it’s him who’ll be leading the team rather than Flitcroft while DC is away. He always comes across quite impressively too, definitely a future manager if he wants it.

I wonder how many games will be affected by tomorrow's storm? Winds look ridiculous.

Our game on Saturday maybe in doubt if Prenton Park’s fragile main stand roof doesn’t come through the storm. Had a lot of problems with it in recent times.

Away at Carlisle. No way that’ll escape.

Fingers crossed it can go ahead we really don’t need any further backlog though safety comes first of course.

With that said it appears to have gotten around that Norman Smurthwaite is the match sponsor in which case I would be amazed if smart people such as the Palios family would have allowed that to happen. If it’s true it is almost certainly going to kick off.

There are 70mph winds forecast for the Wirral tomorrow. The pitch will be fine, but if there is any damage to the main stand roof it is a definite postponement, as we won't be able to get up there until next week to inspect it.

Smurthwaite is a friend of Palios from his days as an accountant and often attends our games. The Vale fans will see it as provocative, but he is really just an old business associate of Palios.

Our useless lot are away to Harrogate who's form has been up and down, not many wins this year - but their form isn't as rotten as ours and they can at least score goals.

We've had a full week on the training pitch for once and the majority of our injuries are expected to have cleared up apart from the 4 long term ones.

Big week for Jackett, we could be in the bottom 2 by the end of it. I've been told that he was safe in the short term due to our luck with injuries and covid which in his defence haven't been his fault. Bristol R (H) and Carlisle (H) next Saturday followed by Colchester (A) and Stevenage (H) the week after so we have a run of fixtures to get something from.

Lose all 3 this week and I think that will be that. Our players "efforts" since the new year have been shocking, whenever we fall behind we give up and never look like scoring. Every game it seems Aaron Drinan misses chances, the opposition score and our team gives up.

Apathy has well and truly set in with me right now.

Harrogate seem like a terrible side to come up against when your in shocking form, so cue a win maybe? :D

No weather concerns for Sutton at Pools on Saturday, we had our stinking winds last night, might blow you away with our scintillating footy but that's it.

Great win Vs Sutton on Tuesday. Shame we didn’t finish them off as our play deserved, but delighted with the win. Finally we got some luck with the referee as well

So… Rochdale at home…. Game will be on and our players will blow away in the wind like an Alex Perry tackle.

Our game against Walsall should be fine...it is always windy at our ground, it is just the strength that varies!

It’s a strange one, couldn’t imagine us allowing Oyston for example to sponsor a game against Blackpool… but it should at least intensify the away atmosphere… I am surprised he’s got the nuts to even turn up for it considering he managed to get run over by a taxi the day of the protests and disappeared most of the last year or so in charge to avoid the heat.

Will be a tense atmosphere in the hospitality areas with Carol and Kevin that’s for sure! But he’s gone and we are in a far better place now that cancer has been cut out that’s for sure.

Hopefully no issues though and more focus is on supporting DC after his tragedy who deserves the fans efforts rather than wasting it on that waste of space.

The one where he got “run over” always sounded suss. Just like the one where he claimed he got beaten up in the Lorne Street car park because he hadn’t sorted out Pope and Adams contracts. Funnily enough the latter for such a vicious assault never was reported to the police and the former incident was closed very quickly for reasons can only speculate on….

I can only guess that guy is arrogant enough to think all is forgiven now. He is in for a big surprise if so. Not just Carol and Kevin but imagine say Colin Garlick among others whose livelihoods he was messing around with what they will be thinking. Good way to make sure our away support is very fired up for sure.

Imagine the pre match kick off photo's if TC was fit!

Notice one of his staff now works at Tranmere too.

One of his staff is certainly one way of putting it...

Just thinking on it there's only really Conlon, Gibbons and Worrall who are carryovers in the squad from that era offhand.

Incidentally Crosby indicated Gibbo has been back in training and it couldn't be timed better really. Worrall to me given the demands of that position and also I don't think he's been fully fit himself we need to protect him a bit and Gibbo's return allows that.

Plus Smudge of course, but the overhaul is that massive, if you consider the side so poor at Tranmere last January (and for around 25 games either side!) only 2 of that 18 who featured that day will feature tomorrow (Smith and Worrall), the other 15 have all left (apart from Conlon who is injured) along with the whole coaching staff... huge turnover in 12 months (for the better thankfully!)

Gibbo will be massive, may see him tomorrow who knows, as is Proctor's return who may even start, especially with the glut of games coming up, I think with Woz it could be burn out, he plays very high energy came back from Covid straight into a run of fixtures.

Looking forward to this. We always struggle against Sutton, they are so direct and shithousey. They are very good at what they do mind. I think Lee's sides are better setup to deal with oppo like this than under the previous manager.

Beat them, maybe an unlikely play off push on the cards?

Of course Smudge as well. To be honest both of those games last season against Tranmere were perfect examples of just how bad we'd gotten. At Prenton Park Tranmere could and should have stuck 6 or 7 past us such was the gulf in the two teams. The game at VP someone who hadn't watched the game would think 4-3 it was a real thriller but truth be told again we were outplayed for huge parts and that was even before Joyce did his idiotic red card. It was a combination of that 4-3 and the loss to Kings Lynn in the cup where we first spiralled I think.

This game does actually mark just over a year since DC was appointed. Done one hell of a job especially considering the rabble he took over. Even made a tomato can like Zak Mills look somewhat semi-competent at one point.

Think it'll be a little more than a coincidence is the sexman is sponsoring tomorrow's game at Tranmere. As mentioned above also a member of staff over there now was rumoured to have a special relationship with him during their time at the Vale.

Pure provocation if he's there tomorrow. Just glad we don't have to put up with his antics on a weekly basis any longer.

You've done well to spring back from a really poor run.

When we played you in November it was such a comfortable victory that I thought you might struggle. You had Cullen up front, who I quite like but he offered very little threat.

Decent club are Hartlepool, so I'm glad to see that you won't be going back down.

I’m also a fan of Cullen but it’s night and day difference now we have Omar Bogle up front, the bloke is a proper nuisance.

Soup Ladle it seems a bit ridiculous doesn’t it that we could even think about the playoffs, but we’ve certainly had a turn around, win Saturday and who knows!

Would have loved to have played this tomorrow. We have almost a full squad now and the momentum over the last few weeks was building.
Looks like a precaution, but it feels good to know that if you're going to spend a few hours in the stand that its been checked over first.
