Shocking first half left us too much to do at 3-0 down. The goal before half-time gave us a little bit of impetus though and we played really well second half.

Will Goodwin has been a revelation up front in the last few games and he deserved his brace.

We need to take the fight and battle from tonight into Saturday's game at Vale. Play more like we did in the second half and less like we did in the first and we'll get positive results - of that I'm sure.

It's just nice to see us go for it for a change.

Second half when we switched to Thomas and Uche up top we looked better. Again though you can’t give good sides a head start. I don’t care about injuries, in future I’m begging Crosby to never play Massey at wingback again. Just completely deficient technically.

When looking at our line up before the game with 6 defenders playing, our RWB Sorensen wide right in an attacking 3, i expected a very defensive display.

Charlton started well for first 20 minutes, using the obvious threat from the wingers. No idea what happened with their goal, but seemed to me to be a straightforward claim from Jensen missed.

1-0 down and expected that to be it. However we grew with confidence. Charlton for some reason sat back and let us attack. Bizarre tactic. They looked great for 20 mins and then stopped playing. To be fair, we kept having pops at goal, but didnt look too threatening until we equalised. No idea what Charlton were doing.

Expected Charlton to come out 2nd half and pass us off the park, but there wasn't much of that happening at all. We got wise to the wingers and doubled up and nullified that. Charlton just kept trying the long diagonal and no short kicks from keeper. Very different to the Appleton set up we were used to. We just kept attacking and Charlton had no answer.

Sorensen had 11 shots without finding the net. A ridiculous effort. I didnt expect us to score 3 goals this side of Christmas considering the attacking options out - Mandriou, House, Walker, Hackett-Fairchild, Bishop.

So refreshing to see us playing with desire and felt a sense of freedom with the performance. Amazing what 2 wins can do, but a much better performance from us.

Following on from an excellent second half performance at Pompey, we were dominant tonight, and Burton will feel themselves fortunate to have still been in the game. No idea how they were in front at half time after having so little of the game, but we fully deserved the victory. Perfectly good goal bizarrely disallowed, a penalty denied, an effort cleared off the line... but we got there in the end. On to Cambridge...

Not the best game tonight from an entertainment perspective but was looking like an efficient away performance until Bristol Rovers got a late leveler.

Wasn't a vintage performance but largely kept Rovers quiet, we hadn't created too much before going in front late in the first half, a cross into the box not dealt with by the goalkeeper presented Reid with the chance to make it 1-0 and he made no mistake.

Second half both sides had chances, Rovers had a couple of headers over the bar whilst Hemmings and Piergianni went close to doubling our lead. When the leveler came it was a great piece of execution by Martin who'd spotted Taye off his line, unfortunately there was a missed handball moments earlier that presented Martin with the opportunity, if the referee does his job we end up with 3 points today.

Oh well, an away point not to be sniffed at and probably a draw would have been fair on the balance of play.

Entertaining game at Sixfields.

Orient were pretty decent throughout, and deserved their point, although to concede that late is gutting. After scoring 2 in 3 minutes to turn the game on its head we were the team that looked set to go on and win it, momentum with us, ground rocking and then a stupid stupid off the ball red a couple of minutes from a young loanee puts us completely on the back foot.

One way traffic for the last half hour, team dead on their feet and orient finally knocked the door down.

Best we’ve played at home this season. Totally dominated Burton from start to finish.

I did wonder if it was going to be another typical Carlisle defeat again when they took the lead. They are a big team and defended nearly every across easily. But we kept going, got the goals and got the result we deserved.
We’re still too wasteful in the final third for my liking, and I’d like us to keep a clean sheet one day, but those are issues for another day.

Must build on this now. We don’t want to follow it up with a shit show like we did after beating bolton.

Wow what a performance tonight and a good win!

We dominated that from start to finish and I'm suprised how shit Burton were considering their recent form as they were so open and easy to break down we should have scored more.

There you go hellogregory, we ended a teams good run tonight.

Not a great game tonight. Couldn't get anything going. Cambridge gave everything to stop us and had a couple of decent breaks. Unlucky not to be leading at ht. Hitting the post and Bishops follow up cleared off the line. Unfortunately a bad injury to Ogivile having to change our shape a bit. No fit backup wingers at the moment and Kamara and Lane looking out of their arses. I'll take a draw when you've won the last 7. Need to get some freshness into the match v reading on Saturday

You're going back down to L2 I'm afraid.

Great away win, reading the report we were much the better team in the first half. Both sides hit the woodwork but a much needed 3 points. We are not too far behind a few others above us in the league but have 2 really tough games coming up, still a wins a win

Worrying that as poor a Peterborough side as I can remember beat us without us really laying a glove on their goal.

This 'not going for it' in the first half of games needs to stop. We're a goal down before we wake up. Our midfield is class but is not being helped by those in front or behind.

Ref utter shite again. We got an apology from the league after Saturday for not getting two penalties on Saturday...we'll probably have a similar letter later this week. Getting silly now.

We huffed and puffed second half but 0 goals in 5 games tells it's own story. We're starting to do that possession for possession sake shit that I can't stand.

Dropping like a stone.

I suspect the 4th official at Bristol Rovers was rather busy dealing with Joey Barton and Steve Evans!

aren't you below us?

I'm not just saying it to be a dick or anything as I actually have a bit of a soft spot for Northampton, but it's just a likely fact that you'll go down because you have barely strengthened your squad, you're relying too much on one player and your club is not strong enough financially to survive in this league.

We on the other hand are below you yes, but we are getting new ownership very soon and it will allow us to splash the cash in January to keep us up and push on.

Carver when will you ever learn. Just keep your mouth shut for fuck sake.

One win and you’re acting like we’re kings of League 1.
We’re a third of the way through our season and we’re one of the four worst teams in the league. That’s a fact. We’re only out of the bottom four due to points deductions, AND we’ve played two games more than the teams below us.

There’s absolutely no grounds for you to be saying other teams above us are going to go down but we are on the other hand. As things stand we are heading down unless we improve our form.

We played quite a disruptive game as you say, first half especially. But we played Digby a bit higher in the press which meant I never felt like we were camped on the edge of our box as much as I have seen us against decent sides at times.

Rode our luck a little but then the miss hit that hit the post first half would have been a damn unlucky goal to concede too.

We didn’t create a lot (read: barely anything) going forward but at least we kept it tight and we’d have taken a draw before the game.

I think Portsmouth will probably go up this season playing like that but I was disappointed in them. We are a poor side and they never really took it to us. Percentage football might get you up but it won’t keep you in the Championship, not a patch on Wednesday, Plymouth or Ipswich last season, or for that matter Barnsley this season.

We never seem to throw the kitchen sink at teams. We are a very patient side so far this season who prod and probe. Unfortunately we've a few got a few big squad injuries, most notably no backup wingers of any kind, Pack our strongest midfielder and captain, plus now probably the most consistent LB in the division with some kind of serious ligament issue. Also Saydee looked like he done something aswell. We've not really had everyone fit at the same times as yet. Think we'll be a slow burner and get better as the season goes on and we get a few players back

Both sides will feel they've lost two points tonight, thought we was largly in control of the game after a difficult start and forced the best chances and Northampton for letting a lead slip so late.

That 5mins at the start of the second half we totally lost our heads, Ethan Galbraith struggled I thought after making the error for the first goal.

Red card I didn't see, also couldn't see why Piggotts goal at the corner was chalked off, didn't look handball from where I was.

For the last 30mins we completely dominated the game as you'd expect and eventually managed to find an equaliser against a side who to be fair defended very well and Burge made some very good saves also.

Mixed emotions in the end, take the draw and move on. We need to improve in the final third, managed two goals at least tonight.

Barnsley fully deserved their win tonight although anybody who was at Oakwell tonight could see that it was never a 3-0 scoreline. Won’t read too much into tonight as I never expected us to get anything and we didn’t play too badly on the whole.

Wigan away next which doesn’t get any easier but I’m more hopeful of a point or three for Saturday than I was ahead of tonight.

I missed the Carlisle game tonight, but from what I've read on various social media sites, it was the best performance of the season.
Good to hear our defence was solid and Gibson in amongst the goals again is a massive confidence booster to us.

Wtf, I never said we are the Kings of L1 but come to think of it, there is no team here so far that has beaten us by turning us over. Most of the games we've lost so far have been thanks to silly little individual errors like from that shit loan keeper we have and Mellish. Top teams like Bolton and Portsmouth are nothing special from what we've seen and we easily ended Burtons good run playing them off the park.

This league isn't as tough as we have been made to believe it is and if we can get our hands on one or two quality strikers for this level and a better goalkeeper in January then we'll stay up no problem.

It's actually you who needs to keep your mouth shut always saying we're shit and going down even after a good win.

I just don't know where we go from here really, no goals in 5 games a 2 points in 7, we are not playing bad in general and the general performances are good but we seem to have a massive crisis of confidence, plenty of chances but we seem to be over playing it and just need a goal from somewhere, something to drop for us, every rebound is dropping to an opponent etc, 2 stone wall penalties turned down in 2 games so we just need something to drop.

Its same story week in week out at the moment, plenty of praise from the opposition but for all the good football and good technical performances in the midfield we need goals.

The quicker Uche and Loft can get up to full fitness the better in that aspect but another two long term injuries last night with Balmer (leaving us again down to only 3 centre halves) and Mitch Clark (leaving us no natural fit wing backs!)

I also couldn't tell from the stream why the goal was disallowed, the reaction from all the Northampton players was disappointment, didn't see any of them appealing. Hard to tell from the stream though, will have a look at the highlights soon.

Disappointed at just getting the point, we really need to take our chances, unbelievable how many we don't take when we are well on top. The miss from a yard out by Ruel was a shocker, harder to miss than score.

Entertaining match though, Hoskins did well for the first goal, still had a lot to do after the mistake. Looked a definite penalty to me too. Thought Northampton defended very well that last 30 minutes, we put in a lot of very dangerous crosses and they dealt with them well.
