So... we are getting relegated this season.

No strikers, bring in Muskwe as a panic signing, turns out he's a complete fraud. See you in a few years I guess.

He was decent for us at this level a few years back, but not all players work for all teams unless you play to their strengths, god knows we can all name players who've banged them in for other teams but fail to do so once you've brought them in the door as the great white hope.

I was expecting more from Jevani Brown too tbh. Very average

Defending so so poor, fella runs across the box no one sticks a foot in, no desire to close the shot, Burge shouldn’t be beaten front post. But, lovely football before that…
There was an away end POV video in the comments and it looks even worse for the keeper, got to be saving that.

I think I might be correct in saying that Tuesday was the first time we've conceded first and won a game since Appleton's final game against Crewe in April 2022!

And perhaps the only time we won from being behind under Kennedy was against Port Vale (1-0, 1-2, 3-2).

No way the second worst refs on the planet. If you’ve watched regular non league football then you’d realise than believe it or not the refs get even worse the further you go down.

We played long ball and won the league under Beck but we weren’t dirty so I take umbrage with you saying we booted our way out of the league. And the players in that side were to a degree stifled under Beck - I reckon we’d have made the premier league with that side if Beck had let them play.
Long delayed reply .
Second worse refs as apposed to league two who are worse.
As for Cambridge Under Beck , I didnt mean boot as in kick the fudge out of everyone , more the hoofball that you and Wimbledon played. Horrible football , horrible to watch but incredibly effective .
Especially as you unearthed a diamond in Dion Dublin . Like Portvale and Wimbledon at the time with 3 man mountains up front and to a slightly lesser extent Stockport with Kevin Francis. But the whole let the grass grow long down the wings thing and only treat one goal mouth stuff was naughty .
Must have come as a shock when he went to Preston on their plastic pitch.

When did we ever have man mountains up front? In that era it was Martin Foyle and Nicky Cross largely both well under 6ft! The only big striker we had in the 90's was Lee Mills but that was later on (95/98) and was largely with either Foyle and little Tony Naylor.

Nowhere in the rule book does it say that you have to draw your grass like Kew Gardens or play Total Football like the Dutch. The pitches in the early 90s were generally shite and we were incredibly effective away from home where we obviously didn’t prepare the pitch.

Dion was (and is) great but he was one part of that team, the other 20 or so in that squad were as important as him. People forget that John Taylor almost equalled his goal tally in the same period for us, or that we had ball players like Steve Claridge, Lee Philpott, Michael Cheatham and Neil Heaney in that team too.

Anyway, if you want crap refs then you need to go down to the Conference (I imagine below is even worse). Honestly, the standard of refs in League 1 is nothing like the Conference.

I'll still never understand you let us have John Taylor + 100 K for Devon White = Steal of the century.

Yes none of us understood it at the time either, most ridiculous swap ever.

Fortunately we did get Taylor back a few years later and got another promotion with him (alongside Martin Butler and Trevor Benjamin). To say Taylor is considered a legend for us is an understatement.

If we are talking about carthorses - Kevin Francis. Or as Barry fry called him, “Bambi on ice”
And still paid nearly a million for him from Stockport.

Kev Francis was brilliant with us, so much entertainment. Opponents didn't know what he was going to do because he didn't. When on a run he would either end it with something good or he'd run straight off the pitch (especially coming down the slope at the Manor). Also, did the longest header I've ever seen from one wing to the other.

There was a season where us and Stockport were doing well in what is now league 1...I think it was the year we won the Autoglass trophy but lost in the playoffs. I remember Kevin Francis being a real handful against us, mainly because he was so tall! I think he pulled a goal back against us at Wembley and I remember thinking 'please keep the ball away from him'! Always one of those danger players that stood out when we played against him.

Didnt we beat them in the Play Off Semi Finals and then the Autoglass Final at Wembley within about a week so had them 3 times?
