We didn’t deserve to lose that tonight. Should have been out of sight in the first half and then should have scored a second a minute or two before Plymouth equalised.

Doesn’t get any easier with a trip to Fratton Park on Saturday but play like we have tonight and we’ll take something I’m sure.

Ridiculous game. Burton time wasting from the 2nd min. Win it in 97th min but we were terrible! Shocking decisions from Evatt until we conceded then he just threw all the attackers on. Papering over some cracks because the last few weeks we’ve been so bad apart from odd 10-15 min spells. We are miles off the top 2/3 in this league atm. We just need to start playing players in their best positions… I never want to see Dapo ag wing back ever again

Frustrating, again we’ve made a big spending side look ordinary but fell just short. We are close to where we want to be and can’t fault the performance. Said it’s a free hit but can’t help feel that’s a dropped point on the day. Deserved one.

Really good effort from Vale. Can definitely hold their heads high on that one. Congrats to Ipswich though, think we made you work for that.

You really did - a timewasting masterclass - but no Wycombe fan can complain about that kind of shit given our record.

We *can* complain about a perfectly good goal being disallowed, and a very strong penalty shout being ignored, though.

Ho hum - Cambridge did play well so it's not worth heading down the path of sour grapes.

Definitely, I didn’t like listening to that game on the radio at all. Very complimentary towards yourselves throughout the whole game

Yeah perfectly good goal by vokes, thought the pen shout was more of a dive myself but hard to see on ifollow.

Given the run we was on I’ll take the win however it comes although I do think we deserved it it the end.

Certainly been along time since we’ve beaten you.

Thought we did alright. It was a bit more even than the stats suggest really but Ipswich were clinical when the chances fell. Our defending was very sloppy too.

We've been in every game against the big boys and have deserved more points.

Thought we probably should have had a penalty second half.

Bad back so watching on iFollow.

Willo milked the "push in the back." He's our master of the dark arts. It was a foul that would often not be given.

The pen wasn't a pen, it was a dive. He should have been booked but we got the goal from the break so :dk:

I would have happily shithoused a draw at Wycombe so to shithouse a win is massively unexpected and welcome. Needed that result so much.

First away of the season I’ve missed. Vale were a pretty decent side, we’d have almost certainly lost that one last season. The referee was poor once again, that looked a nailed on pen for vale and countless wrong decisions.
Huge win for us

We’re awful
You are. We didn't start well (first 30), but with 5 defenders, we are defending like kings. Our game plan worked superbly, soak up the pressure and counter attack. Hit the post after 2 minutes and scored on stroke of half time. Expected more of a fightback from Barnsley 2nd half both on the pitch and off it, but it was a very comfortable game. Really enjoyed the old school stadium, first time at Oakwell. Quietest home support i have heard in some time however. Felt we were pretty vocal and helped see the team over the line. Lovely!

Good result for FGR, very disappointing for Fleetwood, another b... draw. Missed the match so will rely on my mates to give me their thoughts. We simply cannot score goals and unless that can be resolved it's going to be a very long season. Accy at the weekend who are conceding goals like a sieve, they have nothing to fear.....

We were piss poor tonight and can be thankful that Oxford went down to ten men to allow us to pressure them into conceding. I know we've got injuries but this team currently lack any creativity and ideas - it's like going back to the bad old days under Kenny Jackett.

Shrewsbury up next and so we can expect another frustrating game. Cowleys need to have a rethink on how to get this team playing with the current players available.

What a horrible little side Shrewsbury are. I fully understand that game plans are different, not every side will set up to match our expansive football but for a side to feign injury and waste time from minute one was such a killer for the game.

Fortunately justice was served come the end and the only football side on the pitch came out on top.

Enjoy your long, dark and wet trip home Salops.

Decent game overall which we could have got something out of, but credit to Ipswich who look a quality side. Have to say that we gave it a go, and matched them for effort but didnt quite have the quality, but we look as though we will be alright this season.

1,700 plus was a great effort for a tuesday night with the distance involved from Ipswich.

I think what feels good for me is that we're not a full team short. Add 2 or 3 bits of quality to our team and we could be Ipswich in a couple of years. That's the difference at the moment but we're not light years away.

Shrewsbury we’re embarrassing this evening, time wasting from the 1st minute. Even worse once they went 1-0 up.

Strange because when they went forward they actually created chances, but seemed more focused on running the clock down.

We went 4-4-2 second half and managed to find a way to win, it’s oh so much more sweeter when the opposition have done nothing but time waste all game.

Said on Saturday if we could win against Shrewsbury then it’d of been a good point earned against Rovers. Onto the big one next week against them lot up the road.

We’ve been competitive and shown we belong at this level in recent weeks, we’ve lost six of which four where Portsmouth, Peterborough, Wednesday and Ipswich and the Exeter debacle was with kids thrown in because of injuries and an incomplete squad, and MK was similar.

Now we’ve settled we look decent and it’s key now we take that into a run of more winnable games starting Saturday.

Ipswich have real quality, best side we’ve played by a mile and their fans were a level above anyone else’s so far, they’ll go up with how clinical they were and did the shithousery when needed to see it out, so the fact we are disappointed not to get something shows how well we played tonight.

If we are coming away from playing Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town feeling frustrated we’ve not taken a deserved point it shows how far we’ve come in a couple of years as a club.

Worrall was outstanding tonight. Need to see their goals back before roasting players, felt for their third Stoney cost us at the time parrying out into the middle but may look different on the highlights.

Thought the first goal was just a quick and very incisive move...not much you can do about good play. The second was a bit like Wednesday's goal the other week...99 times out of 100 it goes flying over the stand or hits someone. The 3rd was a good pass in behind but then it was very fortunate to land at the strikers feet. Thought they were superior to anything we'd played so far, so to push them all the way was encouraging. Should have been a draw really.

Feels like we're a moment of luck or a refereeing decision away from getting some points off the big boys. It's a bit of a nearly season so far...bit frustrated because we could and probably should be in the top 10. We've given away a lot of undeserved and cheap points.

I’ve just seen the penalty call and it’s a bad one from the ref that! Stone Waller.

We have given some sloppy points away this season but that’s all part of the learning process for this squad. It is our first season back and as Carol says we never lose games we learn which is fair. Long as we stay up and keep improving as the season goes on I will be happy, we are not too far away but need to address LWB and central midfield in the summer (or Jan!)

Just got home, what a game! Very scrappy for the first 25 mins... missed the Port Vale goal in injury time as one of the stewards noticed I was on SkyBet on my phone and asked me to discuss how I saw the second half going with 3 or 4 other stewards. I also asked where the toilets were and got the response "we do have indoor toilets you know". Both sound made up, absolutely true. Credit to your stewards, decent lads.

Summary... not sure where Vale should be aiming to finish this season but they certainly won't be flirting with relegation. I 100% mean that as a positive, based on tonight and their tight losses to the "bigger" sides in the league it doesn't seem unreasonable to see them in the top 10.

Thought our quality shone through and our subs, as will happen alot this season, steadied us and avoided a frantic closing stages. Any side in this league who marks Vale down as an expected 3 points might be in for a surprise.

Quick Q for Vale fans on here - why is your sellout stand, and most vocal, not positioned behind one of the goals? Granted I haven't been to many L1 grounds over the last few seasons but it seems counter productive? Vale on Trent valefan16 leedsvaliant Buxton Vale kieran_vale

The facilities are awful in the Bycars so fans sit down the sides but in January the stand you were in is to become the home end and then it will likely be. We tested the move in the play off semi final and it was immense atmosphere wise as the away end has the best acoustics.

If you play us next season you’d be in the opposite end. (You’ll go up though)

Fair enough. Can't help but feel the sooner you make that change, the better for your season.

P'boro aside, whilst you've lost the majority of games against the so called big teams in L1, looking back they're all pretty much by a goal either side. You might not be far away. What's the average age of your first team?

I too thought Port Vale as a footballing side were pretty decent. One of the better sides we’ve played this season. I do still think we deserved the three points personally though with you having only had 3 shots on target and two of which being goals.

A decent enough performance from us albeit clearly not at our best. Defensively we were solid again although Harrison being given a free header first half was poor from our point of view. Our first goal was superb though. A sweeping, passing move with pace and precision.
