Is that Richard Kone as good as he seems?

Crazy record in non-league.
He still often seems a bit raw and ungainly, and I don't think he's peaked yet, but he won't be with us for much longer if he does add to his game.

Surely Wycombe do, no?
Yeah clearly, they were very good indeed. No idea about Birmingham comparisons because I haven't seen them much, but Wycombe did everything right (though a vaguely coherent opposition would have tested them much better). Their #3 stood out to me for some great marauding runs.

Men against boys.

Wycombe bigger, faster, stronger. Can accept we'll have hard games at this level but the poster who highlighted people like Fiorini as just being fannies are spot on.

Fair play Wycombe. 5 0 didn't flatter them. I'd like to think they could have a good go and challenge. Very sharp team.

That would be Dan Harvie, who the Franchise sneered at us signing from them. Well OK then.
We only triggered the option to see if some mug would pay money for him. Harvie was a top passion merchant, but the last two seasons haven't shone him in the best light.

Cheers Wycombe.

All your front players were rapid, strong with a respectable amount of skill.

Football is a simple game, the above is all you need.

How did Morley play?
Think Wycombe will want to make it permanent in January

Morley has been consistently good for us, and yes, I’m certain we’d try and make him permanent if that’s an option.

Stockport players find fireworks and a proper football challenge scary, can write this one off.

Will Burton ever win a game? Also only 1800 attended, must be pissing money down the drain with crowds like that.

We will win one at some point but by then we will already be relegated
Fans have had enough hence the pitiful gate.
No new manager yet. Rumour is it’s some joey from the Swedish second division.
I’ve given up. If we lose Saturday we are as good as down if we are not already. And we deserved to go down last season make no mistake. We have circled the plug long enough.
Time to go back to league 2. I think it’s been about 7-8 seasons so we have had a good crack.

Well if are right and it’s done for this season it’s all about sorting yourself out and not ending up like Carlisle, relegation to L2 is not the end of the world for Burton.

We will go down again. Like Yeovil. Unless we get the appointment right.
It all went to shit when clough left, so it’s actually all Mansfields fault and I expect a beer bought in honour at the home game between us.

To be fair he was clubless when we appointed him, but I’ll get you a beer if I manage to get a ticket.

Got family in Barton so may go in the home end if not!

Point of order but Yeovil didn't have back to back relegations.
You could have said FGR...

Proper banter club vibes about that result last night. We should be getting more stick really. Not seen any other team get done by 5 yet this season unless I'm missing a result.

Not from me.

I read your forum’s matchday thread and no-one was bigging up your chances beforehand saying you were going to smash us or anything, it’s only funny if people front up with a bunch of swagger first.

Everyone has bad days at the office.

They've had a few shellackings at home this season, didn't Orient randomly beat them 4-0 there too? Blackburn stuck 6 past them as well which can happen away but shouldn't be happening at home.

When it goes wrong for Challinor it goes really wrong doesn't it. Can't get away with anything up here against the decent sides, you have to work hard every second of the game and you need more solid athletic players than you do in League Two.

You are playing as well but is your squad deep. Think Evatt not only messed up with Morley, but Taylor as well
Firino i think has played two games and had two injuries Taylor looked ok when he played last season and thought we may have gone back for him.
We have been ruined this season with injuries [8 currently out] Morley is contracted until 2027. Doubt we would sell him cheap

What concerned me most was actually the second half. First half, hold our hands up got outplayed by a good Wycombe side that looked bang on it. It can happen.

But come out for the second half and you battle to keep the score down, get your foot in, create a few oohs and ah's at the attacking end just to try and lessen the blows. You try and look busy at the very least.

But I actually thought Wycombe showed their dominance physically even more in the second half despite scoring one fewer.

I agree that the second half probably didn't see the kind of clear "they've had a rocket up the arse at half time" reaction that you'd hope for as a side who's gone badly behind, but two things:

1) Challinor was obviously hoping his early subs would have an effect - they didn't
2) Chasing the game obviously makes things harder in that the more you go forward to try and even things up, the more open it leaves you at the back.

With us, we have proven to be leaky at the back as an attack-minded side. So if you score early and put us on the back foot, then you have a chance, because we do leave gaps.

But conversely, if you have to leave gaps yourself because you're chasing the game, then we're likely to punish those gaps.

I couldn't believe your two centre halves were 21 and 22 when I looked them up during the second half. Both looked like 30 plus battle hardened centre halves who had possibly played at a higher level. They were streetwise as well, knew when to hold, when to block off etc.

I know one is on loan but the other I could see you fielding some bids from the Championship if he carries on like that.

Well, the other one is Joe Low who actually did come down from the Championship (Brizl City) but he never got a game for them, he's had a couple of international turnouts for Wales though. We have decent competition at CB as well so the fact that he's made that slot his own says a lot for him.

Getting done by 5 at home is terrible, maybe time for a manager change Stocky ?

Not for me, mate.

You defend Artell after managing a couple of wins. Imagine how much I'll defend Challinor after a couple of promotions.

It working out doesn’t mean that it wasn’t right for all parties to call it a day. He was poor for a large majority of the last 2 seasons.

It seems you’re playing him as an actual left back instead of wide centre back or wing back which suits him more. That’ll be it.
