We haven’t got a defence, one of them has played once since a 10 month lay off the other 3 aren’t fit. We just need to scrape a win in any circumstances here, get MK out the way and do the same again Tuesday next week. That will leave it in our hands, lose either or the next 2 home games and it’s the play offs.

MK will rip through the defence as it stands.

I agree and like I said Cargill is almost certainly done this season and Brunt is up in the air.

You can tell Flint is not properly fit either. Disasterous. Kilgour, MacDonald, Cargill and Brunt all out :ffs:

I am a bit inclined to think is it worth putting Lewis left back? Bowery was pathetic Saturday and Macca is done. Pretty sure he did well for Newport in that position last season.

I’d try Lewis there, didn’t he get Newports POTS in that position? Tomorrow I’d stick with Williams right back as he’s probably the closest to getting abit of match sharpness but it Bowery has to play then right back it is for me and Macca will have to play on the left, though he’s clearly not 100% either.

You knew we’d lose a centre back the moment Cargill got injured. Cursed we fucking are.

Tomorrow night a loss could go a long way to confirming our relegation from the same division, especially if Colchester get a result. Shows how quick things can go down the shitter, enjoy the good times while you can

Notts don't have a defence tbf and we managed a draw against MK, you'll be fine.

How many are expected to make the trip? From memory, I don't think we've got fans in the upper tier of the away end so you must be expecting over 300.
Well, Alain arranges the away coaches and he said around 300.

Win for us and we've surely put this to bed. Harrogate seem to fluctuate between the sublime and the ridiculous, so hopefully we come up against the latter. Would be great to be able to go to Colchester knowing that we're safe with the opportunity to really Cowley the Cowleys.
Harrogate at home was the first sounding of the alarm bells under DA. We started well, opened up Harrogate with a bit of Artell ball but within 10 minutes Harrogate had worked us out, closed down our routes to play out from the back and outfought and outthought us for the rest of the game. DA had no response.

Be interesting to how DA approaches this and what he’s learnt from the pre-Christmas game.

We're a different beast at home to be fair though. We've won 4 away games since the turn of the year (one of which was Saturday against an awful FGR and another, funnily enough, Mansfield) and our home form has kept us in the automatic race.

I still can't see past Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield getting the autos. It's going to be a bottle job of biblical proportions for either Wrexham or Mansfield to let us past them considering we only have 3 games left. Stockport are up, that's a given. I'd be happyish with the playoffs if we weren't so abjectly crap away from home.

Typical we get ourselves on an impressive unbeaten run and then we don't have a game midweek to keep the momentum going.

Wish our pitch was worse, although the club informs Notts and interested Wrexham fans that the pitch is in desperate need of reconstruction. Both the underlying drainage system and the sub-soil base are starting to fail and require total replacement.

As well as state-of-the-art drainage, which will all but eradicate the threat of waterlogging, a new hybrid SIS pitch will be installed. Darn!!

Plus the club are taking the opportunity to install under soil heating to all but eradicate the threat of a frozen pitch. Drat!!

All this infrastructure investment but how much is it costing the owners I do wonder?

Ok so the current more than above average playing surface for L2 will next season be upgraded to Premier League quality but can we also have a decent solid centre back and goalkeeper pretty please?
They've also spent £900,000 to acquire a unit across from the ground for the fan zone. They're definitely investing for the long run.
We won't just spend money on top price players but will spend a good £250-500k on a new pitch and under soil heating.
They have and are ploughing millions into Notts, can't believe our luck to be honest.

If this mansfield side play at our very best (like very best) there is no side that can stop them, regardless of how well they play.

Unfortunately how frequently and when these displays get put out vary and don’t tend to happen towards the end of the season.

It won’t be one of those displays tomorrow that i can guarantee, you get the early goal and both the players and fans will get nervous, some fans were rather hostile at the end saturday.

If we can get the early goal and a bit of luck i think we’ll be fine, but anyone thinking it’ll be easy is clearly wrong for numerous reasons.

As said when we played you at your place (and one of your fans said it earlier) the 4-9 flattered us and you played some decent stuff.
It's a big one tomorrow. FGR have to win, not winning does nothing for your confidence although take away the drama and a point isn't the end of the world.

I mean it does sound like excuses but we’re literally no defence as the others have said. We’ve had previous chances to also put a clear gap between ourselves and 4th.

There better not be another Stags bottle job , not the season I bet on them to get promoted and finish top 3. Plus we need them out of this divisions so we don't gift them 6 points this season.

Mansfield beat FGR at home and don't lose at fortress MK and it's job done. What a fantastic position to be in with just a few games to go. It's well and truly in their hands.

Was that cost? Wow, that's great. It will be a super addition, guaranteed income and big profit maker every week each and every season for years to come.

Very lucky indeed but it wont appease the shortsighted idiots online who want money spent on players first. Seriously how short are these people's memories?

On the accounts there was a £900,000 capital purchase. I didn't see it but on Notts Mad a poster did. I've just presumed that was it, sounds about right for an industrial unit that size and location.

Exactly...we have to go there and try to win, nothing less, although a point might be considered a good return it won't get us out of the mire!

Only because Williamson had a brain fart and insisted on playing Filip Marschal in goal. If he had left Kelly in I'm sure we wouldn't have let in at least one of those goals.

Ok you have Kelly between the sticks and we have Non League Pep Williams back in the dugout instead of Part Time Stu, then who knows the end result.

If we play like we did at Crewe you won't beat us. It's all about whether we can repeat that level of performance I reckon.
Think you’re over egging your performance. Crewe have won 1 in their last 8 league games and they were rubbish in that win, I know because it was against us. Probably the worst home performance I’ve seen against us this season (obviously still good enough for us).

I don’t want the play-offs because we never get past a semi (5 attempts, all fails, a real problem).

Doncaster v Walsall could be a big match.
I thought there used to be a couple of Donnie fans on here, but maybe they're keeping a low profile so we don't notice that they've won 6 matches in a row. They might need to win their last 5 as well to make the playoffs, and Walsall are another team with matches in hand. Walsall are 4 points ahead, so losing tonight won't be quite the death knell it would be for Doncaster, and anyway Crawley are in form, but if either Barrow or Crewe have a mare in the run-in, I wouldn't count the winner of this DonWal match out.

Still on here, we have to win all our remaining matches to have a chance and even then rely on 4 other teams dropping enough points, it’s very unlikely and given we haven’t won 7 matches in a row since the 1940’s I’m not going to get overly excited.
I’m just hoping we take this form into next season and it allows McCann to get the right players in to add to the squad we already have.

We did play very well in that game, defended solidly and were clinical on the break, plus given how in the other 4 matches we've played around that game we've only managed a combined 1 shot on target, it's the only performance giving us any hope.

Filthy weather here.Rain should have finished by 4 apparently and I wouldn't expect the game to be in doubt but conditions aren't going to be nice.
