Agree and tbh I was pleased that we played well ourselves while still a bit makeshift and having had that wobble, hope this means we're past that then got players to return.

Yeah thought we looked good going forward, especially first half, nice to Collins running at them and his goal was a cracker. Great cross for Matt's goal as well. Thought we were screwed when Jamma was hobbling around first half but he recovered well

McGee will be disappointed with both their goals, especially the second. Thomas back in on Saturday?

On another positive Vale and Colchester are getting closer to being catchable if we can win a few Games, but that looks a long way of right now.

Big game Saturday!

Just got to my break and checked the score and felt a bit sick when I saw the timing of the Carlisle goal, I really hope it was deserved and we haven’t just thrown it away, guess I’d best read back through the last 5 pages of this to find out.
I wouldn't - and avoid Fishy too - it's not pretty reading on there.

Don't think you threw it away... we just got lucky with a chance created at the end.

It's never pretty on there, it's full of a hundred PontoonLew's!

well no sides are getting promoted from the conference north/south so at least there won’t be a “mystery” team in there that no-ones ever heard of.

I spent years thinking we were playing heading and yates only to realise it was infact hayes and yeading

I just don't quite know what to think about the Crawley v Salford game. Ended with us winning 1-0 but in truth it could have been five all !

Salford keeper saved 3 1 on 1s in the first half. Our keeper made two good saves.

In the second half Salford had two (very weak) efforts off the line and one unchallenged header from a yard past the post.

We hit the post, one blocked on the six yard line and Nadersan getting his feet mixed up when running through on goal.

Did I mention we had a goal disallowed and Nadesan stole the ball from the keeper in the six yard box but the ball bounced back to the keeper?

A more inept show of defending and forward play I have never seen but it was entertaining.

Salford will be trying to kick themselves for not getting something from that but will probably miss !

Happy with the result but still a little shocked.

You've already played us twice

, who's shittier than us?
No1 is shittier than you(us) but if you look at our remaining fixtures they are all the least ‘good’ (on paper)sides of the division not that it means anything

We only turned up for half hour tonight and deserved nothing. Bolton are a good side but no better than the other teams at the top.

Results were a mixed bag for teams at the top so not too down about this defeat. Got to go to Oldham Saturday and get a result now and then we can put our feet up midweek.
Your manager has said in one of his post match interviews that we are a level above anything you’ve played against this season. Which I think from 15-60/70mins or so is the best we have played this season. The game changed when we took sarcevic off and brought on Maddison. We lost our control and one of our main runners. I was so excited when we got Maddison but have seen absolutely nothing from him yet. We are a high pressure, high intensity running, possession side and he doesn’t run and always goes for the Hollywood pass. Maybe he needs time to settle and get used to it but he’s not been good enough. Clearly talented but just not the right fit.

Maybe these crap refereeing decisions that keep happening against us are a bit of Karma from the penalty we got at Swindon a couple of years ago that helped keep us up when Harry Cardwell tripped over his own feet outside the box and we got given a pen.
I was more than happy to take that one in our quest for safety back then so I guess we’ve just gotta swallow these crap ones we keep getting now.

A great performance down at Southend and a fully deserved 3 points. We should have been 4/5 up at half time. Credit to Southend for coming at us for the opening 15 mins of the second half but that was all they offered all game. We took our foot off the gas in the second half and didn’t have to work for the win really.

A huge 3 points especially with Cheltenham and Cambridge losing as well as that late goal for Morecambe at Forest Green. We can relax now this weekend as we play Sunderland at Wembley in a game we’re not expected to win so can go out there, enjoy it, give it our all and see what happens!
A big performance and result for us tonight. It was important to quickly demonstrate that we can win without Vaughan and the change of tactics with Lewis as a false nine and Feeney in midfield worked well. We played some lovely stuff and were in complete control.

I am not on the wind up, but Southend looked extremely poor and I can't see them staying up on that showing.

Harrogate, Stevenage and Scunthrope are all top 10 in form over the last 10. Won't be easy.

If Barrow win Friday they are 2 games ahead of us due to Goal Difference.

Effectively means we have 11 games to save ourselves, not 12 if you do win.

Agree, can’t think of a poorer opposition performance in games we’ve played away from home this season.

Really.......You met a good team who mullered you tonight and who are getting better week on week.
8 wins 2 draws from the end of the transfer window.
Lets look at the stats
Possession Bolton 61% CU 39%
Shots 14 6
Shots Target 8 3
Shots o/t 6 3
Corners 8 3

From the 10th min to about the 75th min mark you was chasing shadows.
For once our substitutions made us disjointed and you came into the game last 15

That first half was as good as we have played the last ten years....Still think we may have to settle for a play off place, but dont see us losing more than 2 games out of the last 15
Like you we have no midweek games until Easter.....Some teams are going to be decimated come April

Shit happens!
You beat us at home when we got out of the Conference as well.
Yeah that was our first ever game in non league, it convinced me that we would go on and walk the league that season. Hahaha.

Having watched extended highlights of Southend’s game at FGR, I was needlessly a bit worried about tonight’s game. Having got behind Southend a couple of times in the opening minutes Tranmere ruthlessly went for the kill and Southend thankfully obliged.

Annoyingly as is the way, while it was deserved on their showing it was a bit of a gift from us when we were well placed to see out the couple of minutes left.
What was frustrating is that our players forgot Cooper's golden rule of keeping possession of ball.
For the last ten minutes of game all FGR did was hoof ball away and seconds later it was back in the FGR goal mouth area.
Morecambe deserved their point. I'm disappointed that FGR conceded two points in time added on.

But it was a excellent match to watch, four goals with both teams playing for a win.

If Southend had started the 1st half like the way they set off in the 2nd, it might have been much less comfortable. They hardly made an effort to close us down and if Rovers had a poacher in the box, the score could easily have doubled, with the quality balls heading in that direction. Even when they were more in the game, second half they offered little up front and on this showing wouldn’t hold out much hope of Southend staying up.

It’s crazy how not very good you need to be to get promotion this season.

Every year people say it's a low quality league. I certainly don't think this season is any worse than any others; it's just far more even than I can remember league two being.

I've been impressed with a number of teams this year and a lot more teams seem to be playing technical, possession based football than I can remember in previous lg2 seasons.
Bolton last night were excellent. FGR, Exeter, Cheltenham, Tranmere, Salford and Bradford have all left me thinking they're decent teams.

Even the sides down the bottom played well against us but in most cases lacked a cutting edge - certainly Barrow gave us a really good game at the Abbey and Southend were competent but ineffectual. I've certainly seen far worse sides than this year's relegation battlers (although fans of Grimsby etc will, I'm sure, believe they're the worst team in history).

I'm really enjoying the season, even as it looks like promotion is drifting away from us a bit. It's the most interesting league 2 I can remember since we escaped Non-league.
